After leaving "The Groomsmen of Long Island" after an unfortunate and unnecessary experience (of which you can see my review on their page detailing it), I got back on yelp and found this place. The worker was transparent immediately about being appointment based. However he stated if I could possibly give him a few minutes to reach the shop he will take me immediately since I am only getting an undercut done. I would've been fine with just accepting that they're appointment based for the day off the simple fact that when I called someone answered!! He was patient with my request and not dismissive because I didn't have an appointment. The vibe is definitely simple and straight to the point which I like. No sheep in wolves clothing. I waited no longer than the time he asked me to wait and got my cut by a professional who made sure to clean his hands and equipment before event seeing me, with great customer service and to be honest the same amount of talent as the barbers at "the groomsmen of Long Island". So if you ask me, I would rather spend my hard earned money here than anywhere I have to worry about a barber lacking customer service and also becoming threatening to a female. This is my second cut at this shop and nothing but high praise for it. I make an appointment online, you can prepay the cut if you like and it's seem less. There is plenty of street parking,m so have no fear but bring your coins to feed the meter. The shop is very modern it's clean and well lit. They use an app for appointments which charged and booked me for an appointment when no barbers are there. I still haven't got my refund. Then I make appointment with barber directly he was double booked. Just a waste of my time. read more

Just had a horrible experience at Unique Cutz in Lynbrook. I do not recommend this barber shop. I made an appointment during the week to get two teenage boys a haircut. I confirm for 9:30 on Sunday. I dropped the boys off and picked them up an hour later. The gentleman working there had them sit there an hour and waited for me to come back to tell me he would not cut their hair because he did not have any appointment for them. I understand if there is an error in making appointments or miscommunication, but why would you have the two boys sit there an hour and not communicate that to them while they were there waiting. Very inconsiderate and the mismanagement in the shop is not worth the time or the money. read more

I was worried...very worried. Then i found u-nique cuts. Looked them up online, seems this guy Marcel cuts hair all over the world...hmmm, probably going to expensive right? Nope. This review is specifically for the dude in the front with little to no hair that talks a lot. His booth is across Rich's booth. Went to him this past Saturday for a cut and here are the details: - I asked for a low fade, ended up with a high tape up or something of that nature. - Never once asked or attempted to blade with a shape up. Rich, the African brother, the lovely lady next to Rich, has all asked about using a blade, this guy never did. when I walk into a barbershop I always expect to get bladed up. - My cut took about 20 minutes, wasn't a simple cut but he rushed it. - I asked him not to touch my hairline/box, yet he did and pushed my box back. - Asked for a trim of my hair, he literally grabbed all my hair and quickly just put his scissors through it, the whole top came out very uneven and all over the place - He complained about my hair growing differently on different sides or something like that. - For the first time in my life a barber asked me to hold on of my ears down while he cuts.. - One of my sideburns was on the skinny end, while the other one left thicker, while barely trimming down the sideburns, remember I got a fade.. - Have gotten 3 comments already about my haircut being bad Ended up with top 3 worst hair cut I have ever received in my life. Mind you, I had a big fund raiser that night and have 2 huge job interviews this week, and now have to go in with my hair looking like ass. I recommend everyone from stay away from this specific barber. I hate to give the shop a bad review but it really pissed me off that I had to go home and try to fix my hair as best as I could and now have to have a bad haircut for a couple weeks. This place is awesome, and in a pretty decent location. I went at a good time as a walk-in and was taken immediately by Francis. I tried growing out my hair for a while but it didn't work out, so I showed him a different type of undercut that I wanted and he knew exactly what to do. Even trimmed my beard down perfectly. Overall great experience, everyone is super kind and chill, and Francis was beyond professional, making sure I was comfortable at all times and triple checking before he tried anything new. I have to give this place five stars! I went to four different places within a span of two days. All of those places either didn't listen or cut my hair crooked. Those places also had outdated styles or sense of views... so a girl getting a buzz cut probably wasn't ok with them lol. But this place is absolutely amazing! Recently received a haircut from Rich. Service was good. It was my first time. Barber started by asking me questions of the type of haircut I wanted. I requested a Dark Cesar. Barber asked how I'd like my haircut, with or against the grain. Also, how I'd like the back of my hair shaped. I think it's important to get as much information of your clients' preference before providing services. I made an appointment and my haircut pretty much started in a timely manner. I made an appointment through the owner, who's very responsive and courteous. I'm not sure how the logistics would work without an appointment. There's is only one critique I would identify, and this may be more of a demographic issue than anything else. I've never been to a barbershop that separates a haircut from a beard. I initially had trouble understanding this concept. Usually, when I get a haircut the expectation is that you are doing something with the beard, whether you're shaving it, lining it with the sideburns, or trimming it. In my experience, only a kids haircut would not include a beard or if the customer requests that you do absolutely nothing to the beard. This wasn't a major issue for me since I'm starting to grow out my beard. It'll take some adjustment to remember to request that my haircut includes the beard. Overall, you'll enjoy your haircut. Pricing is on the higher side but we live in a capitalistic society. Street parking is available, many are metered. The barbershop is not too loud, pretty quiet compared to other barbershops. * Review is based on one visit. read more

During my haircut I found out that he is the owner of U-Nique Cutz and was not surprised, because I felt so comfortable sitting in his chair. I could just tell he knew what he was doing! I been a customer at U-nique Cutz for a little over 5 years now even though it feels longer due to the bond the owner (Harold) and I have. I used to go to ordinary around the way barbers in my hometown Brooklyn and get a typical half a*s cut until I literally stumbled across unique-cutz and it's been a life changing experience ever since. The products Harold and the rest of the barbers use are top notch, and each barber goes ABOVE and BEYOND for each customer that comes through the doors. Don't expect a 10 minute haircut when you come here, each barber spends at least 15-20 minutes on each client despite the type of haircut . They're really big on precision and detail which is what makes unique-cutz so successful. They rarely are able to keep appointments. I've scheduled and set appointments online several times over the past 2 years. 9 out of 10 times they reschedule, sometimes 2 hours before my appointment. I have time stamped screenshots and emails of all of their reschedules - Proof that I will post in case of any rebuttal from the shop) I am flying out on a trip in the morning and had scheduled an appointment yesterday morning. I just received a notification that my appointment was rescheduled again, this time 45 mins earlier. Like most of the world who works full time and has children I set appointments at certain times for obvious reasons. I have a full time job and a family. Ill be going to a new barber shop who can keep appointments. I am strongly urging others to find a different shop unless you are ok with hanging out in a dank barber shop for countless hours while you wait for your "appointment". Even when they don't reschedule you, Ive never been cut at my scheduled time. A handful of times I've deliberately just walked in. I've had better luck with that, but usually just have to go to whoever's free. Most of the barbers also wreak of smoke as well. For $30 min price (not including tip) for a haircut there are plenty of other places to go So what is the excuse for all other appointments that have been cancelled before this virus became a pandemic? I recently started coming here within the last 3 months. I was recommended here by a very close friend of mine and honestly I never looked back since. The guys are great at their job and have that perfect balance of professionalism and laid back fun. I drove out to U-nique Cutz from Fresh Meadows looking for a new barber that understood hair and I was not disappointed once I arrived to my appointment with Marcel. Being, personally, from the heart of the city, I had my bias towards barber shops outside of Queens and Brooklyn. To my surprise, Marcel revealed that he's from Queens himself! Marcel knew exactly what I wanted and even gave his own suggestions. Using his own technique, he was able to correct the unevenness caused by the previous "hairstylist" and left me looking fresh and renewed. One slight problem I had while at U-nique Cutz was that Marcel had to handle incoming phone calls to the shop during my haircut. however, my cut was not affected negatively by the small distractions as he would pause to handle the call and not try to multitask unnecessarily. All in all, I recommend this barber shop. It's got the feel of Brooklyn/Queens but in a small village package. read more

Secondly, he gave me the worse haircut , not sure if that was on purpose or what, but overall a terrible experience, never going back to that shop again. Hands down the best place to go for a cut. Every barber in this place has serious skill, prices are unbeatable and they actually take the time to make sure your looking the way you want. I travel 20 min to get my hair cut here and it's always worth it. Bring in a picture of what you want or explain it to your barber and they won't disappoint, I brought in a picture and my barber did a better job then the picture I brought in.
