Beyond the bed and bathroom (shower only) there was a small coffee table and a mini-fridge with drinks and snacks you could pay for. The mini-fridge came in handy to store some fruit and yogurt. Check-in was easy and the front desk attendant was friendly. Next to the front desk is the Clovelly restaurant, one of the top rated restaurants in Warrnambool. The best part of the Best Western is probably it's closeness to the downtown area. Just a few blocks away is the main downtown area with restaurants, grocery stores, and shopping. The town is very cute so it's worth the stroll over.

We stayed in room #39, and had an entire floor of one of the buildings all to ourselves. Staff was exceptionally pleasant and friendly, and when we asked, steered us to visit the Tower Hill game preserve and Basalt Wines a short distance away. Office manager Raj was as delightful and friendly as could be. We had both breakfast and dinner in their restaurant twice. This is not a luxury hotel, but it is a clean and very pleasant hotel. The staff treats you like kings and queens, and you're smack-dab in the middle of a nice area. Grocery stores are a block away. You can't lose.

After a couple of crummy motels, we were thrilled to find ourselves in a well appointed two-level townhouse with more than enough room for just the two of us that felt just like being at home (if our home was big and awesome). The two person corner spa was simply divine and exactly what we needed to relax on our last stop along the Great Ocean Road. A continental breakfast was also included and served fresh to our door in the morning. Still surprised this turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip.

The Stump ticked every one of these all-important 'old man pub' boxes. We came here twice during our Port Fairy weekend getaway. Once was for an extremely important post-drive pint, and the second was for Friday night drinks. On Friday night The Stump (also called The Caledonian Inn) has live music and I can assure you they are playing all the classics - Fleetwood Mac, Bon Jovi - all the songs you inexplicably know all the words to. Beers on tap are fairly simple, with the most 'crafty' being Fat Yak, but you really shouldn't be drinking that fancy beer in a pub as classic as The Stump. The beer is cold and that's all that matters. While we didn't dine here, the menu looked exactly as you can imagine with the addition of a few variants of the parma. There is also a MAGNIFICENT beer garden as well as seats out the front for people watching. The Stump is by far the best pub in Port Fairy, which is probably why it's been around for so damn long!

I learned more about cricket here than I ever though I would want to know. It's still such a strange game to me haha. The rest of the down town area of Port Fairy is a short walk away, and the beach is not but a block or two further. I hope the Stump is around still on my next trip to Port Fairy.

It is of - no actually it really baffled me - what's going on here. In part it comes across as a typical suburban pub with a sports bar, a small courtyard for the smokers, a bistro, and a room full of pokies, but it is the front bar that is pretty impressive. At night they have live bands, which while they do have a cover charge, if you happen to be in the pub before they set up you can get away with not actually paying. The front bar also has a decent selection of craft beers, which is another thing that I like, though they only offer them in the front bar. They also have a function room upstairs with a skydeck, however when I was here it was closed, which was a little unfortunate since I really do like my rooftop bars (and the courtyard was pretty ordinary). Not a bad place, but there are certainly much better pubs to spend a Saturday night.

The facilities are however quite good and well maintained, I wouldn't agree with their website that they are 'lush', they are pretty standard comparing with the other parks in the area. The pool is indoor and is on the cool side of heated but appears very clean and I liked the tiles. The village is walking distance to town but not to the beach or the awesome Lake Pertobe playground. During my stay there was quite a lot of 'Grey Nomads' who sit around under the awnings wanting to know every bodies business, if your in that age group it might work for you. Next time I stay in Warrnambool I will stay at one of the beach side parks as this one wasn't for me.

The whole place is recently refurbished and looks (+smells) new. There were tradesmen installing new carpet in the stairwell on my first day - thats how new things are! Reception staff very helpful and friendly. The place was booked out both nights I stayed so they must be doing something right ! Happy to give the Quest Warrnambool four Yelp! stars.
