Eagle Shoe & Boot saved my shoes!…read more Since I am in Great Barrington for a little while, I'm doing my best to patronize the businesses here, but have been frustrated at the lack of great service (so far, both dry cleaners in town have completely screwed me over), so when I ruined one of my shoes, I figured I would have to toss the pair, or take them home to Boston to get repaired there. However, figuring I would give a local merchant ONE LAST TRY, I went into Eagle Shoe and handed over my sad shoe, and the nice guy (who I think is the owner) said it would be no problem and I could pick it up the next day. My shoe was repaired for just $8, no tossing of an expensive pair needed, and my faith in humanity has been restored.

So, I asked my mom where can I get him Red Wings or Thorogood's around here and she said we need to go to Montano's in Saugerties, so off we went. Montano's has been around since 1906, wow that is long time! They provide professional fitting services, Pedorthic care, and specialized inventory targeted to foot health support. Montano's has a variety of high-quality work-boot brands including Red Wing, Chippewa, Thorogood, Danner, Irish Setter, and Timberland. They have a variety of athletic and hiking footwear brands such as Merrell, Keen, Hoka, On Running, and Salomon. There is a selection catered to casual and comfort as well; brands include Dansko, Birkenstock, Blundstone, UGG, and Vionic. Fair warning, it's not cheap to shop here. You are buying pretty much the best-of-the-best with a professional service. Some of these work boots are easily $200+ and the specialty insoles are running $65+ so keep that in mind when shopping. I was able to kill two birds with one stone by buying my stepdad his birthday present and my mom a new pair of shoes for Mother's Day. It wasn't cheap but they are worth it, plus I don't get to see them as much as I would like. The Red Wings he chose were $200, the specialty insoles cost $65 and Mom's shoes were $120. All the items are of high quality and should last them until my next visit, lol. Staff were very friendly and helpful. From the moment we walked in we were treated with respect and one of the associates accommodated both my family members with all of their fitting needs. I just purchased a new pair of Keens recently for work but I was really interested in trying out a pair of Thorogood's. The problem is if I tried them on, I probably would have bought them. I just don't need another pair now but the selection here seems like an excellent choice for a future work boot. I might be back next year once I ware my Keens out. Snarky, rude and poor customer care…read more There is a sales woman with brown long hair and light eyes who was unapologetically rude and ruined her own sale. My husband was carefully replacing a few socks that my daughter (3yo) had disturbed from their place on display. The saleswoman started to wave her hand frustratedly in my daughter's direction, while repeating "could she NOT! Could she NOT!" Lady, she's 3! And it was being refolded and replaced. I hope the owner knows that I walked OUT. I was planning on spending several hundreds of dollars but, because of that poor attitude, why would I support a brand that hires staff like that?!? When my husband told the woman that this was unacceptable and he was replacing the items to their original place and folding them, she proceeded to tell him to "get a grip sir!" Staff training on customer care is lacking and should immediately be addressed!

He went above and beyond to take care of her. He saw she had difficulty getting out of the chair and got her a cushion to make it easier for her to get up. He suggested shoes, got her peds since she doesn't wear socks, put them on her scary feet. He went above and beyond to help her. Although she didn't find any shoes I wouldn't hesitate to go back there again if Jason was there to help. Footprints is lucky to have an employee like him! I wish I could give more than 5 stars!

It's kind of off the beaten path so I hope they get more traffic. It's a cute store and they have a nice selection of shoes for kids. I found a nice pair of new balance sneakers for my daughter as well as socks, a winter hat and gloves. My mom wanted to check out their Clarks selection. I didn't look around too much but would recommend checking them out if on the turnpike. Service was friendly and prices for the items I looked at were reasonable.
