I wanted my apartment cleaned. Damnation... there's two of them, and they got less done than the one cleaner I hired previously off the Internet, AND I was charged more. Let's start out with arrival. I was told they'd start at 10:30 AM. No mention of there being "a fudge factor of an hour." They arrived 45 minutes late. I called them and they told me that "they had an hour window to arrive"... that would have been OK had they mentioned it when I signed up, but they didn't. I was told that the cleaners would work until the job was done, 60 to 90 minutes. Fine. They get here, and the first thing the lady in charge tells me is that they are leaving in an hour regardless of how much work was done. Not only that, but no attempt was made to "let me down easy"- she showed no people skills whatsoever. They get to work... They did work? And the bathroom and the kitchen did look better than they did before the crew arrived. However, I'm not entirely sure the lady cleaned the bathtub, something you would think would be a high priority if you are cleaning the bathroom. The kitchen was worse. I think she took a lot of time cleaning the top of the oven? GREAT. Except I hardly use the oven. The sink wasn't cleaned, and neither were the dishes. And all the dirty dishes were piled into the sink- the sink was less usable after they left than before the arrived. All in all, it was a lousy experience. Merry Maids sucks!! They don't do hardly anything. They say they will get your house spotless but anything that actually cleans your house will be $110 an hour! My floors are still filthy anywhere close to the wall! Especially in the bathrooms where they were paid to sanitize everything. It's absolutely unsanitary in there! My house should have been an easy clean because it's empty. On the phone I was told that they would clean an empty house and get it spotless and ready to sell. I had to call them back just to get them to dust! When I called them back out because it was such a mess I asked them to wipe the counter tops because for some reason they couldn't figure out how to remove barbecue sauce. They quoted me $738 to get my house spotless but nothing in my house was made spotless! In my bathroom the dirt didn't get cleaned up an inch away from the edge of the floor. Later my mom came over and asked if they were supposed to do the cabinets. She ended up cleaning the cabinets because Merry Maids did not! There was still barbecue sauce on the cabinet's today when I washed them and nobody has lived in that house for a weeks so it's the barbecue sauce that they did not clean up. They didn't tell me until after the job was done that all they would do is dust, clean the floors and wipe the counter tops. For $738 I would think that they would do those things very well! My mom and I are still working on the house because Merry Maids took my $738 and did not get my house clean. I looked at the paper later and it said that they were supposed to clean the floors. And also said that they would clean the countertop. When they came back they wiped the top of the counter top but did not do the edges at all. They vacuumed the floor but when they were done I could still see you large chunks of dust left in the floor. I tried pointing out some of the mess that they were missing and for some reason they still did not get it. If all they do is dust, mop floors and vacuum for $738 they should have at least done a good job! It was a very horrible experience! I hate with a passion having to call a company back to do their job that they should have done to begin with. I already called them back one and I'm thinking about doing it again because they did not mop the floors behind the toilet in any of my bathrooms. They cleaned one toilet but there are three in my house. They knew I didn't need this stress because I told them that my husband just died. They knew that and still decided not to do the jobs that they were hired to do. I would call them back to finish their work but when I talked to the owner she was so defensive and grumpy that I'm not sure it's worth it! I help people read this and decide not to use Merry Maids for anything ever! They don't do anything! They don't tell the person ahead that they don't actually clean 4 the $738 even though they said that they would get it spotless on the phone. They come out after getting your money and not before! Then if you need cleaning done after paying them to clean your house they charge $110 an hour. One of the things that was on the list that I paid for was sanitizing all of the item is in every bathroom and every fixture. I had to ask a girl to take the light fixtures down because I didn't want her to think forget to clean them. All she did was take them down and put them on the countertop. When they broke my alarm system they took the very dusty piece that was up high so it collected dust a lot and set it on my table right before they left leaving extra dust and extra work for me. If I were capable of doing it myself I would have never hired Merry Maids! I really thought they would get it done. I hope that they read this and realize that they need to improve their company. I also hope that writing this will help other people avoid a cleaning service that will screw you! Especially if you are like me and don't enjoy complaining to a company in order to get them to come back and do the job that they were already paid for. In my opinion any and I mean any cleaning service will do a much much better job! Maybe Merry Maids will see this post and realize that they need to send someone else out to finish cleaning my floors in my bathrooms and everything else they didn't do. Either way I felt the need to warn people about them. If they do not come out and clean my floors in my bathrooms better I'm going to go live to every public place on the internet that I can! Not just to get them to come out and do it but because I don't want anybody else in the world to have the same experience that I had with them! I also used Merry Maids service for 12+ years. I agree they used to be very good. Their service has seriously declined.l experienced a medication theft years ago but that was dealt with to my satisfaction. Over the most recent year pictures were knocked off kilter and not straightened. Cleaning has been haphazard at best. There have been three people in my home at once and they still took 2 hours to clean a small home. I requested the same person clean my home each time but that never happened. Lately they have been consistently 1-2 hours late coming to my home. If you do use their service be very cautious as you could experience theft, broken objects and a substandard clean. read more

I have hired merry maids from this office for 13 years. They have previously been good, but have gone into serious decline due to I guess hiring the wrong people. Right now I'm reporting one of their cleaners for the theft of 600$ in cash from my house during a cleaning. These aren't the kind of people you want in your house! Beware. read more

There are cheaper services out there and they do not treat their employees fairly or with respect. Huge turnover with employees and this greatly affects their service. Check around. read more
