We started with Merryhill fall last year and my grandson has absolutely blossomed! The school takes a whole person view of each child and provides them with social and academic opportunities that invite the entire school and family to participate! It reminds me of the old days of education where the school saw itself as a partner to actually teach. I thought the trauma of his experience at his previous school may take a few grades to erase but in a short time Ms Zapanti saw what he needed the most which with love and patience. He feels safe now and I couldn't be more grateful for Merryhill!! Great job Mrs Y and staff for creating this environment!

My wife and I were really worried she might react the same way here -- but guess what, she's doing so much better at Merryhill! This school truly has empathy and warmth. Ms Gram and Ms Niemand are not just teachers -- they give real mothership. They make my daughter feel secure, trusting, and cared for. My daughter is a highly sensitive child (HSP) -- she feels anxious with too many strangers or changes around her, so it takes time for her to adapt. From day one, both teachers have been incredibly patient and loving. They treat every child equally, with the same care and responsibility. One day my daughter told me about a new boy who cried nonstop during his first week. Every time we came to pick her up, we'd see him closely attached to the teachers -- it was clear he felt safe with them. He literally follows Ms Gram wherever she goes, which says everything about how nurturing they are. Other things I love about this school: parents get monthly reports for their kids, there are regular teacher-parent meetings, and they offer a great variety of lunch options and events for kids to learn and explore. We're so grateful to have found a school that truly understands children and provides such a loving environment.

SVHS is an online high school. It is fully accredited and…read moreNCAA & UC (a-g) approved. Online courses are $125 each (as of August 2022). My 8th grade son is currently taking a Geometry Course through SVHS. Since his current public school does not offer geometry to middle school students it was recommended that we look into an online program. After doing quite a bit of research we came across the following programs that were repeatedly mentioned online (I listed the price per course or per semester) * SVHS ($125) * BYU independent study ($195) * Excel High ($299) * Apex ($380) * EPIC ($399) Based on what other parents posted online it seems like the experience is pretty much the same all across-the-board: * Self paced. There is a recommended schedule for completing each lesson and doing all the assignments but this is entirely up to the student. I believe there's a one-year limit to finish the course. * Learning material consists of videos, written lesson plans/pdfs. Most of the material is not original material created by the school, but rather repurposed material that exists on youtube * Exams consist of multiple-choice quizzes (10 questions each) that give you instant results, unit tests (25 questions each) that give you instant results, and a final exam. * Homework - every "unit" (aka chapter) has an assignment that you must submit which is graded by a real human. They say that it takes 2 to 3 days for someone to grade your work, but our experience has been longer. The amount of homework is significantly less than what you get in a traditional school. They do encourage you to take the quizzes as many times as you like to ensure that you are learning the material. While some of the programs above offer a human tutor that will either respond to your email questions or meet with you over zoom, my impression is that the tutors are hit or miss in terms of quality. Personally I would not choose a program (SVHS or any of the others above) expecting to have a great tutor. In my opinion... SVHS is for: * Self-disciplined and self-motivated students. Or a student with a parent who has the time to ensure that your student is staying on top of things. * Students who learn well asynchronously. Remember, none of the classes are live. Your student will review the material on their own time. * Students who do not have access to a particular course offered at their current school. In our case, geometry is not offered to eighth graders but my son really enjoys math and wanted to challenge himself * Students who need to take an accredited UC A-G approved course that will count towards high school and maybe even college. SVHS is NOT for: * Students who need live teaching and having more interaction with teachers, tutors, and other students. * Students who need structure and who need to be held accountable to attend and complete assignments * Students who need tutoring or hands-on support outside of the classroom * Students who are looking for an amazing learning experience. The material, from our experience, is pretty basic. It feels more like you are doing the minimum to "check the box" rather than to have an enriching learning experience Overall we are pleased because it has met our expectations. But our expectations (getting access to a course that is not offered elsewhere, getting UC A-G credit, flexibility/convenience) might differ from others.

Booking is very simple if you visit the libraries website and search horses 4 heroes. Some pros: All of the staff were very nice. The animals were all very nice too. There were porto potties. Some cons: the milking station was pretty gross. I peeked into the bucket of water (that feeds the udders) and there was a slime/sediment in the bottom of the bucket with mosquito larva swimming around. Not sanitary. The bedding for the goats was entirely made of poop. It must have been weeks since it has been cleaned. Not sanitary. I also think it would be nice to have hand sanitizer or a proper hand washing station directly next to the entrance for the goats for this reason in particular. The water the animals (goats and sheep) had to drink also looked cloudy and had a smell. My last complaint is that it was $10 for a horse ride that lasted maybe 2 minutes? I mean I thought for $10 they could ride a BIT longer. Especially because there was no one else waiting. I will still give this business 4 stars because of how friendly and accommodating they were. Please be aware of sanitary conditions and take proper precautions for you and your family.
