This is a great small airport clean, easy to navigate, and stress-free. I really like how it keeps the classic Arizona desert style throughout the terminal, which gives it a unique local feel. Everything feels simple and efficient compared to larger airports, making travel much more enjoyable. Definitely a convenient and pleasant airport to fly out of.

I love coming to this airport, sitting at the picnic tables and watching the airplanes takeoff and land. There's a nice area right by the tarmac that has picnic tables and a few shade trees. There is also a large covered area with picnic tables as well. It's nice, quiet and relaxing. Some days I see fighter jets, commercial aircraft, small Cessna's and private jets. Air Force One has even landed here.

Really nice little airport, however, there aren't many restaurants or shops airside so I'd recommend eating before you arrive if possible. I love that the car rental desks are right next to the baggage claim, which makes it really convenient upon landing. TSA is also fast here and I've never had an issue on the 3 times I've flow out of here so far.

Arrived alive it a great but very hot city!

Airport was super clean, bathrooms well stocked and sinks wiped down. Staff were friendly and smiling and willing to guild us lost folds in the correct direction! Well lit signs and easy directions to follow! Thanks, Mesa! O and TSA- enjoy that 4.1 oz of body butter a-holes

If you're looking for inexpensive flights to get out of town, this is the airport to go to. Although it's a long drive to get to it it's worth it for the price if you are watching prices. We always use allegiant airline. They have long-term and short term parking as well. The airport is small so there's honestly only about 10 gates so you don't have to fight with as many people When you're trying to catch your flight.

Very small, only ten gates and one major carrier (Allegiant), but that's what makes it nice.

It's definitely more…read moreadvanced than other airports in the US, with their easy to navigate terminal map and TSA process. Lines move fairly quickly when most people act like it's not their first day on earth, and you rarely have to take out your electronics and put them in separate bins. I had the experience of taking the Sky Train to my assigned terminal recently, and it was super easy to go from the valley metro rail stop to the sky train stop (just go up the escalator that very obviously says To Sky Train). Saves me a lot of money by not needing to use rideshare anymore. The food options are pretty random - not as many chains as other airports - but I appreciate the chick fil a every now and then. For their Starbucks, I highly reccommend using the order ahead feature so that you don't have to wait in line - it's almost always long.

Now, I know it is not Atlanta because Atlanta is in a league of its own, but Phoenix is no joke either. This airport is not for the weak, so be prepared to walk! Your airline may use gates in different concourses, so you could land near Gate A2 and have to walk all the way to B26. Thankfully, they have moving walkways, but it can still be quite a hike. There are tons of restaurants and shops throughout the airport, but like most airports, the prices will rob you blind! That is why I always say BYOFS, bring your own food and snacks! Of course, liquids are restricted through security, so I also bring an empty reusable water bottle and fill it at one of the water stations after I get through TSA. That can save you some money because these airport prices are ridiculous. If you have a long travel day, TSA generally allows completely frozen drinks through security, but they must still be completely frozen when inspected, not melted or slushy. I have done it many times, but always check the current rules before traveling. The airport does have employees and transportation assistance available if you need help getting to your gate, which is a plus. However, I have noticed that many airport gate areas seem to be getting smaller, with everyone packed together while waiting to board. If you have to connect through Phoenix, give yourself plenty of time. I would not recommend booking a short layover at an airport this large because you may not reach your next gate in time. Personally, I would want a layover of at least two hours so I would not have to run through the airport or worry about missing my flight. Phoenix Sky Harbor will get you where you need to go, but wear comfortable shoes, bring your own snacks, and be prepared to WALK!

However, the return flight was fraught was frustration and disappointment, including a total of 5 delays for a total of 7h and 29m sequestered to gate 7 in Rapid City's airport. I was pretty frustrated and angry, but once I learned what the company did in attempts to prevent everyone involved from being stranded, I completely understood and am now sympathetic to the cause. I recently learned that if you…read morehave the opportunity to purchase tickets at the counter, you can save roughly $40 per round trip which is essentially the convenience/admin fee online, but there are specific parameters on how to do so... It has to be during their allotted or scheduled hours for the airport Which is extremely limited and as of this review is from 12:00 - 1:00 pm. Every other day they are considered "closed". I did inquire with the agent if it really was only on Sundays, which she said they can sometimes do it during other hours right before or after a flight, but not guaranteed and depends whose working that day. Secondly, though they have various lines and have signs saying "All Services", you have to go to the very end, along the wall for tickets and oddly enough there is no sign. Because the hours are so limited, travelers will book multiple sets of tickets at once and their system or process is not built around efficiency, We had about 10 or so people ahead of us and were in line for almost an hour. Again, some of these travelers were booking numerous tickets, so it would take longer, but they really don't set anyone up for success and you have to provide all the standard info you need for a flight, but verbally then need to confirm. So as you can imagine, not the quickest process. It would make a lot more sense if they have forms that could be prefilled to help streamline the process. We had three round trip tickets to book so saved about $120 for our hour of time, was it worth it? In this particular case, yes, but time is money too, so one ticket, maybe not, but it's all relative. You do also have to pay for parking, which luckily is not too steep in Mesa and was a few bucks for the hour. I do not quite understand why more work for the staff leads to more affordable or cheaper tickets, but is an option for those traveling and if you have many tickets to book!

Both times, we flew Southwest and ended up at the exact same gates, so we got a pretty consistent experience. The gates were in a convenient location, especially since they were close to the restrooms. There were also plenty of food options nearby, which is always nice when you have time to kill before a flight. I noticed information booths throughout the airport where you could ask questions and get help figuring out where you needed to go, which would be especially helpful if you're unfamiliar with the airport. Pickup was a little confusing outside. Our friend who was picking us up accidentally ended up on the Uber side instead of the area where she was supposed to meet us. Thankfully, it wasn't particularly busy, so it wasn't a huge issue, but I could see it being more frustrating during a busy time. One downside was that the chairs at our gates didn't have charging ports, which would have been nice while we were waiting to board. That seems like such a small thing, but when you're traveling, having somewhere to charge your phone can make a big difference. Overall, Phoenix Sky Harbor was a clean airport with plenty of food options and helpful resources throughout. We had a pretty easy experience both times, and since we were flying Southwest, we found our way around without too much trouble.
