My first time arriving & going out of this airport. I love how small it is! Makes everything easier in my opinion. When we arrived at this airport it was around 3:50pm on a Saturday. Quite a few people but wasn't packed! Plenty of parking outside. We did however had to wait a while to get out daughters car seat, as you can see we literally got off the airplane from outside where the planes land! So that was a really cool experience. Leaving this airport around 2 weeks later however was super annoying. At least when It came to TSA! We had to take every little thing out, that we didn't have to at Oakland Airport!! Like we basically emptied out everything! It was crazy. The guy was kind of a douche too! Other than that, we had a great flight arriving & departing. Staff was friendly other than that one TSA, wish I got his name. I like this airport better than Sky Harbor but the extra 30 mins drive was definitely sucky. Great little regional airport with one larger airline (Allegiant) offering national destinations to other smaller airports. The airport is very clean, laid out well and very easy to navigate. There are car rental options located inside the airport for reservations. The rental lot is a short walk outside of the main airport terminal. Staff seems friendly and willing to help. I believe Uber is not allowed to drop off curbside so you may want to check that out before ordering a ride share service. Lyft may be an option. There's a restaurant on site if you're hungry and stations to grab snacks or magazines. Plenty of seating and easy to keep social distancing during COVID. When I arrived there were less than 10 people in the main airport lobby. I would imagine flight traffic is relatively low during pandemic. The airports web site offers updates on how they are accommodating passengers and visitors during COVID. Make sure to check there as a few things have changed. Allegiant is an interesting airline. Very a la cart and so tickets may seem affordable at first but add up quickly if you want a non-middle seat, want to carry on or check a bag, want a snack, etc. I do like that I can fly into smaller airports and avoid the high traffic places like Chicago it Atlanta. read more

This airport is very easy to maneuver thru. Parking is very affordable at airport. The economy lot is inexpensive as well and a short few minute shuttle drive away. It took less than 15 minutes to get thru security. More than enough seating at gate that's all I need to be completely happy at airport. read more

A smaller regional (or "gateway") airport for flying into Phoenix without flying into Phoenix. Only more minor airlines fly into this airport, like Allegiant, although I think United also flies here. We took a flight with Allegiant and it was fine. Lines are short, people are more friendly, and it felt much less tense than a big international or metropolitan airport. This airport is well-organized and b/c it's MUCH smaller than Sky Harbor, it is much easier to get through security, and to get to your gate. We arrived at night and didn't feel it was unsafe or anything. We got out and b/c we didn't have any baggage to claim, we went straight to the rental car area (right there near the parking lot) and we got checked out with our car and were quickly on our way. On the way home, we arrived a bit later due to traffic and having to gas our rental car back up. However, we still managed to check our rental car back in (which is inconveniently across the main street that leads to the airport, unlike the rental car check out area), and go back across the street to the airport and we went through security pretty quickly and go in line with a little time to spare for boarding our flight. Overall, it is a great airport for those who are closer to East Valley or who have to take a flight with little notice and need to Allegiant since flying Southwest in short order would cost a lot more. And even though it is far from central Phoenix, it is worth a drive if you want a less stressful flying experience. read more

I was surprised at how much I ended up liking this airport. Sure it's no Sky Harbor, but it's less stress and really simple. I highly recommend self parking and taking the free shuttle to the airport from the parking lot. I would NOT come to this airport if you have no one to pick you up/aren't renting a car there. It's really far from everything. The airport was clean, security was fast, everyone was really nice. And the budget airlines that fly out of here are truly a great deal. read more

One of the easiest airports in the country to navigate! Very small, only ten gates and one major carrier (Allegiant), but that's what makes it nice. Not a lot of people to deal with, and in my case it took only ten minutes to get through TSA. They have a great system here and the flow of passengers works well. read more

Food sellers some you get a portion of the menu item description for a expensive price, only to be hungry and disappointed on board while eating what you expected to be a filling and tasty breakfast..So read the menus and ask ?'s so your bag of meal you just paid for, and brought on board is what you expected. If it's not, next flight, buy your bag of meal at a different food place in the concourse. TSA is in need of management KAZA improvements. and a limited array of places for breakfast or lunch. Before you book a flight that lands at this airport, beware of the difficulty of ordering Lyft/Uber from Mesa Getaway, especially late at night. We landed around 10pm on a Friday night and waited more than half an hour to find any rides available with Lyft or Uber. There were none! We then found out that these are pretty scarce and almost impossible to get if it is late. We checked in with the taxis and were informed that getting to Scottsdale would cost us $70 for a 35 min ride! (This was more expensive than my flight ticket!!). We had no choice but to get a taxi. I guess we were lucky because shortly after we got in, there were no more taxis available at the airport. Our taxi driver kept getting notifications that more cars were needed at the airport to pick up stranded passengers. If you do not have a car or somebody to pick you up at the airport, I would reconsider flying in to Mesa Getaway. It is pretty remote and far from Phoenix. Better to pay more money and fly directly into the main airport. If you do have transportation, the airport is small and easy to get around. It also did not feel very crowded. We actually had a great flight with Allegiant. read more

It is still very Inconvenient to get here from Phoenix, but the airport does have better food options. On a winter afternoon, it is extremely busy with lots of people coming in for spring training, visiting relatives, etc. I see a million grandparents greeting the grandchildren. There are still very few places to sit. Most people are standing around. Parking is still kind of weird with these little tokens you have to take. The price is OK, though. I guess I don't mind coming out here to pick someone up but I probably would not want to fly out of here unless it were absolutely necessary. read more

ALLEGIANT AIR - Disabled Military Spouse, they supposedly changed policies a year ago that we no longer get checked bag or carry on...plus the girl wouldn't even put my bag up on the scale for me and i had to hold my cane and carrying other items ( I felt very discriminated on, my husband always gets courtesy check and yet I'm disabled and can't get once)...I just traveled in October and they never said a word to me about it. Couldn't even do a courtesy checked bag for me this one time cause I didn't know about the policy change BAD BUSINESS. $208 HORRIBLE Only reason I would choose ALLEGIANT AIR is because of the perks, NO LONGER! Plus the girl at the counter snapped at me because I walked up to the counter...she said I had to be called upon. And it wasn't like she had to clean the counter or anything. Not Happy! If my grandparents ran an airport it would be this one. This is a very small and dated airport, but what it lacks in size and technology it's makes up for in charm and cleanliness. The staff here are extremely friendly and willing to help you get from point A to B, even if that trek is only twenty feet. There are ten small gates in this airport and the snacking spots are minimal. So if you're looking to grab that Starbucks or Cinnabon before you depart, sorry my friend, no major corporations have infiltrated this airport... Yet. They seem to keep it stocked with some local premade snacks and beverages. I kinda dig that no corpo feel. There is one eatery here called the Copper Plate that sells burgers and shakes. So if that Zonie enduced hangover has you sweating vodka bullets, belly up to the bar and get your carb on. Great place, cozy feel, and the like mentioned, solid customer service. The next time I book my flight to the Grand Canyon State, I'll try to fly through the Gateway. Peace! read more

This airport is a total diamond in the rough! If you want to avoid the busier Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, you can land or fly out of the Phoenix area from this tiny airport. This airport only flies Allegiant Air, so that is your only option. It does remind me of the Long Beach Airport, where it's very small and you'll enter & exit the airplane from the runway. Like other tiny airports, it's never crowded, security lines are short, and everything is more convenient when you arrive or depart. Everything is faster too. Even though I'm not a big fan of Allegiant Air, I do enjoy this airport. It's a further drive from Phoenix, but it's only about 40 minutes away. Gas is cheaper in AZ and there are less vehicles on the road. It's a lot easier to get around this area, so I don't mind flying out a little further to this airport. read more

Small, quick, friendly, thats it in a nutshell. Didnt take long to get through security, of course they pat me down, all the airports do it to me every time! Is it wrong, I have come so accustomed to it I just automatically step out and raise my arms for them? The airport is small so not a lot of walking and well I like that. They have a lite store and restaurant so you can eat or get a water for the plane ride. I have been through here a lot the past year and I have never had any problems that wasn't my own fault. I have flown Gateway many times, and it always takes a very very long time to get your luggage once you land.

This airport might be the worst business I have ever worked with. I have had three flights just cancelled out of nowhere. The last one I was notified 30 minutes before me and my family had to go home. I was shocked. When I called to see what could be done they offered me the choice of a partial refund or the possibility of another flight 5 days later. Yes you are hearing that right. They told me it was because of weather. Due to the absolute clear sky's and ALL of the other planes arriving and taking off to their destinations just fine I asked what weather they were talking about and they refused to answer. I was very smugly told I could "fill out a form for customer relations online". The partial refund they told me will take 3-4 weeks to get back to me?!? Never ever fly this airline unless you life depended on it. I have given so many chances and never again. Heed my warning people. It cost me thousands in missed work more expensive last minute flights hotel and Ubers. If you think you are saving something you're wrong. I could deal with it before but the planes are also the most uncomfortable I have ever sat in dirty and seem to be out of service (our flight in we were told the plane we were suppose to get on way not "airworthy"). ALLEGIANT are crooks and have the WORST customer service. One of my 1st experiences with Allegiant was I had a brand new hard case suitcase. When I picked it up on the luggage carousel the side had a big scratch/dent and the handle that pulls in and out was broken. I had only used the suitcase once and they wouldn't do anything to reimburse me for any damages. So with the handle broken I could never use it again. There went over $100. NEVER EVER EVER book your CAR rental or HOTEL reservation through Allegiant!!! Maybe I'm the only one that doesn't read the 100'S of lines of fine print, because I don't have all day to book my reservations. I needed to change my car rental and they WON'T give you your money even though I booked over a month ahead. It took me 35 minutes on hold to talk to an agent only to be told I could only get a credit with the airline for future use. USE companies like EXPEDIA! You can cancel car rentals and hotels 24 hours in advance and GET YOUR MONEY BACK. Not a stupid Mother F...ing credit. I didn't by the $75 insurance on my flight tickets, because my tickets were cheaper then that. But caveat emptor! They charge you for every single thing that other airlines don't! I'm surprised they don't charge you to use the restroom and for toilet paper on the flights. So what looks like a good deal in the end it might be worth paying a few more dollars to go else were. You get what you pay for! read more

If your like me and really don't like big airports. Count your blessing with this gem that we have here in Phoenix- Mesa! I always check to see if my flight route will go out of this airport prior to looking at Phoenix Sky Harbor simply because it easier... 1. Security is breeze.. smaller airport means less crowded which equals getting through faster! 2. Fewer gates.. If your plane get switched to another gate you do not have to get on terminal taxi to get to another terminal flying down breezeway to get to your gate. 3. There is always a bar to grab a adult drink that's is less crowded. 4. 90% chance your flight will leave on time due to boarding starting on time. 5. Perfect facility for getting to smaller airports in the Midwest. Everyone was very accommodating but check in early as it gets hectic closer to departure time. The only negative I have is the baggage claim area can take a lot of time Remote parking is only $11 a day, you can't take a shuttle from my house in Peoria and back for the deal u get at this parking facility. read more

Honestly, not the absolute best airport I've been too, but honestly it gets the job done very well! From my understanding only Allegiant flies out of here, and Allegiant is relatively cheap if you don't want snacks, overhead bags, or water of any sorts, so make sure to pack snacks and bring a reusable bottle! Parking is alright, I've had to park my car for a few hours there and nothing was taken or stolen. Cramped areas, and especially with COVID-19 it can cause some problems in that area. Baggage check is easy, same as everywhere else, and the real only problem I had was the attendants not always being nice. I don't give it 5/5, but it's definitely one of the better and smaller airports that I've been too. If you want to fly cheap, Allegiant is a good place to do so. read more

Small airports are the best. I love SNA, BUR, LGA and found that I could save $200 flying Allegiant out of this airport vs any other airline at PHX. That alone is amazing. I flew on a Tuesday morning so virtually no people - 2 flights departing from the 7 gates available. There are two food options - one looks like a legit restaurant with full bar. I got a breakfast sandwich and giant ice tea to go from the cafe and it was only $8. The menu was extensive and had some tasty kids options like grilled cheese which I can't even find at LAX. read more

We use this airport and airline to take direct flights (non stop) to multiple destinations. It use to be a small hole in the wall airport, but over the years they have built it up to a pretty nice spot to fly from. Come early it builds up fast. read more

I travel through Gateway about 3-4 times a year for allegiant air. Airport is easy to navigate and small. It has always been clean. There are two dining options inside security--a grill type place and a Paradise bakery. Also a few gift shops. TSA here is hit and miss- sometimes I fly through it- sometimes it takes 2 hours... I'm not sure what the deal is. I try to get here early due to a scary (almost missed flight experience) once. I always park in the economy lot $7/day and catch the shuttle to airport-about 3 minute drive. I've rarely had to wait for the shuttle more than 5 minutes. read more

I am incredibly disappointed in the Customer Service of Allegiant Airlines. My sister had traveled here to visit our brother who had recently suffered from a major stroke. Because of a final visit with him, before her return flight home, we misjudged the after-work traffic between the medical facility and the airport so we arrived one hour late. I am a frequent flyer (not with Allegiant) so I am acutely aware of the request to arrive at the airport 2 hours before a flight. I have often thought that was somewhat of an overkill, because this airport is small enough to easily check bags and get through the TSA check point, besides the fact that all gates are less than a 5 minute walk from TSA. She took her bags to the ticket counter exactly 63 minutes prior to departure, and was told she was too late. They refused to check her bags and told her because of her tardiness, she could not board this flight. Because of her need to get home, I had to purchase a one-way ticket for two days later, costing $331.00. I tried many, many times to contact Customer Service to speak with someone, explaining that it was not only a family medical emergency but also unforeseen traffic delays. After several days, I contacted Allegiant by e-mail, and just today, 10 days later, they have informed me that I cannot get a credit voucher and all funds are forfeited due to a "missed" flight. I want everyone to know that this was NOT a missed flight. Yes, she arrived late to the airport, but there certainly should be some leniency to the customers who may have unexpected delay issues. My family and I will never fly Allegiant Airlines again. read more
