I flew Allegiant from Mesa to Rapid City SD because they were the quickest and cheapest carrier. The flight out was great with no issues. However, the return flight was fraught was frustration and disappointment, including a total of 5 delays for a total of 7h and 29m sequestered to gate 7 in Rapid City's airport. I was pretty frustrated and angry, but once I learned what the company did in attempts to prevent everyone involved from being stranded, I completely understood and am now sympathetic to the cause. I would actually choose Allegiant Air again if their route was the most convenient, even with the possibility of being shipwrecked by them again... because they do try and they do care read more

This particular experience is regarding the purchase of tickets. I recently learned that if you have the opportunity to purchase tickets at the counter, you can save roughly $40 per round trip which is essentially the convenience/admin fee online, but there are specific parameters on how to do so... It has to be during their allotted or scheduled hours for the airport Which is extremely limited and as of this review is from 12:00 - 1:00 pm. Every other day they are considered "closed". I did inquire with the agent if it really was only on Sundays, which she said they can sometimes do it during other hours right before or after a flight, but not guaranteed and depends whose working that day. Secondly, though they have various lines and have signs saying "All Services", you have to go to the very end, along the wall for tickets and oddly enough there is no sign. Because the hours are so limited, travelers will book multiple sets of tickets at once and their system or process is not built around efficiency, We had about 10 or so people ahead of us and were in line for almost an hour. Again, some of these travelers were booking numerous tickets, so it would take longer, but they really don't set anyone up for success and you have to provide all the standard info you need for a flight, but verbally then need to confirm. So as you can imagine, not the quickest process. It would make a lot more sense if they have forms that could be prefilled to help streamline the process. We had three round trip tickets to book so saved about $120 for our hour of time, was it worth it? In this particular case, yes, but time is money too, so one ticket, maybe not, but it's all relative. You do also have to pay for parking, which luckily is not too steep in Mesa and was a few bucks for the hour. I do not quite understand why more work for the staff leads to more affordable or cheaper tickets, but is an option for those traveling and if you have many tickets to book! read more

If you're thinking of flying Allegiant, do yourself a favor: don't. My dad's flight got delayed 2 hours (fine, things happen). Then another hour. Then after sitting at the airport for FOUR HOURS, they casually pushed it until the next morning at 9am. At that point, we cancelled, had him take the FlyAway back to Van Nuys, and rebooked with Southwest--because, you know, actual airlines get planes in the air. Allegiant isn't an airline, it's a time-wasting scam with wings. There's a reason they have a 1.6-star rating. Honestly, I'd give zero stars if Google let me. The only thing Allegiant is on time for is disappointing people. read more

I can not explain how bad my experience I had on my flight was on this airline. I paid for my seat 1c because I can't walk long distances. I get on the plane and they moved me to the middle of the plane by the window. I ended up with bruises on my body trying to get in my seat. I don't like to travel and this experience reinforced that! read more

Wow, there's really no love for this airline I see with the low ratings, like 1.5 stars low, eeks! Thankfully, our experience has been OK. Literally OK. So during the pandemic, we starting flying this airline from SCK to PHX and the flights were not that full, and even when they were fuller, they were on-time and the flights smooth and uneventful. The prices are as low as you can get to fly with a shuttle plane airline. However, they do cost more if you want them to be refundable, but that's true with all airlines. There's a discount of $10 for each roundtrip ticket, so take advantage of that. The flights are quite no non-sense w/no frills, no meals, no beverages/snacks. You can purchase drinks and snacks at exorbitant prices, but yours truly has never done that and have no plans to do so either. We BYO snacks and water bottles. In any case, the flights are usually quite full b/c they try to pack them in and it's a popular route and lots of people go between AZ and CA to see family/friends, vacation, do business, etc. We like that the planes are Airbus and not Boeing planes, after all the scary news about the latter, so that's some level of peace of mind there, but lately, there's been some issues b/c our last flight to PHX was delayed quite a bit and when we were finally able to board, there were these huge aeronautical/space tape that resembled shiny duct tape on the outside of the left side of the plane. I kid you not, I prayed extra hard that flight, and thankfully it was uneventful and even quite and smooth at take off and landing w/not too much turbulence, but you betcha I was praying hard that we'd be safe after seeing that "space duct tape" bandaging the plane's body, eeks! The flight back was something else, we weren't delayed flying from PHX back to SCK, but when we got back, we were stuck on the tarmac for over an hour, it was b/c the power was out at the SCK airport, so that the pilot couldn't let us off for some reason. He tried to let us out the RIGHT side of the plane which is unusual as planes usually deplane passengers on the left side, but he tried that to help things go faster and it didn't work b/c the ramp walkway couldn't go that way, and so we had to wait and wait and wait some more, it got kind of stuffy and warm in the plane, but he did keep the air on, he couldn't turn off all the engines or he'd not be able to get it back on or something like that so eventually the power came back to the airport building to add power to the plane or so, and he was able to let us deplane off the left side, and we got into the airport building just to find out they did NOT get our baggage out of the plane while we were on there waiting, so we had to wait another 40 minutes or so. In all, we were supposed to land just after 9 pm (and we did) in SCK, but the wait ON the plane and then IN the building for our luggage took another 2+hours so that we didn't even get out of the airport and on the road till after 11pm. We were not happy campers. Not completely Allegiant's fault, but I've learned that people really do experience a lot of delays w/this airline and we've just been blessed to have avoided most delays so far. Flight attendants and pilots are generally very friendly, helpful, and with a good sense of humor, but remember, they have to fly back and forth multiple flights a day so they're probably tired out by the end of the day too, so show them some grace, please, and remember, they're a discount airline, so keep your expectations balanced. read more

I have been flying Allegiant for years from Mesa Gateway to Cincinnati Ohio. This is a wonderful direct dlight . 3.5 hours. I personally have not experienced delays and always have my bags at the end of the trip. You do need to purchase food and drinks but I mostly keep a small snack in my purse for emergencies. Please note, you cannot use cash for those purchases. I am very pleased with this Airline. read more

Sure they charge you for everything just short of the air you breath on the flight (don't worry, they'll get there), but it's an inexpensive ticket so they have to make their money somehow. The flight was clean, and left on time. The flight attendants were very nice, and the gate attendants were friendly enough. The plane was of course kind of cramped but it was actually a bit better than South West in my opinion. I live down in Florence and fly back and forth to Springfield Missouri on a regular basis. As far as convenience and cost versus flying a major airline out of Sky Harbor this is hands down the cheapest and most convenient way to go. read more

This is a discount airline. No frills, no perks, nothing free. You pay for everything aside from the flight. There is no WI-FI on board. You pay for snacks and beverages. They have the goofyest boarding system they board from the rear to the front unless you purchase priority boarding for an extra $100. The flight attendants were wonderful. The flight left on time and arrived ahead of schedule. Before disembarking, we had to sit through a sales pitch for an Allegiant credit card. Bottom line, you get what you pay for, and on this airline, you pay for it. read more

I unfortunately have to fly Allegiant because the ONLY thing they have going for them is convenience. But they are an absolute nightmare to work with and to fly with. You will most likely pay more to get your carry on to your destination than to get YOU to the destination (I wish that were a joke), and it's about 50/50 that you will actually get to your destination. It's uncomfortable and the customer service is a nightmare. Any issue is 45 mins on hold and their app is a mess. It's just overall a nightmare. My girlfriend and I went on a flight from Phoenix to Stockton, Ca on 12/12/25. Before the flight left we were told that there was fog and we would attempted to land twice and if we couldn't we would have enough fuel to make it to Oakland, California. WHAT!!! They said this two more times after we were in the air. They couldn't land so the idiot pilot said we SHOULD have enough fuel to get to Oakland which is 60 miles away. We all looked at each other and couldn't believe what he was saying. Even the idiot flight attendant said the same thing. I won't even go into what happened after we landed in Oakland. Tried to travel to my grandpas funeral with my newborn child. I called and even came up to the airport at the Fargo location to ask the front desk if the paperwork I had for my baby was okay as her birth certificate was taking a while from the county. They said it was perfect. (I had flown with her one other time absolutely no issue) checking in for my flight I was told her paperwork did not work and I would have to leave her or pay for her own seat. She's 2 months old and strictly breastfed. I asked why another worker said it was okay I was told "they're all trained differently." I had to MISS my grandpas funeral as I could not afford another $600 round trip flight for my newborn. The workers were rude as I was obviously starting to cry. We fly Allegiant often because they fly direct to Bozeman from AZ. We have paid for upgraded seats for extra legroom on every flight. Tonight was the 4th time they were unable to provide the Allegiant Extra seats which we PAID much more for and they couldn't provide because they'd "changed" planes. This is a complete rip-off. They've done this 4 times to us within 3 months. We fly every 3 weeks. We're going back to flying Delta. They at least give you what we've paid for! read more

I understand that Allegiant is a low-cost, no-frills airline but my experience has been ridiculous and I haven't even flown yet! When I went to the Allegiant website to check in and get a boarding pass, it told me I needed to verify my information, which I did and exactly nothing happened. So I tried again and again. Finally, I called and after a 40-minute wait on hold, the agent told me that they were having problems with the system and I should just come to the airport to get my boarding pass. They wouldn't charge me the usual $5. Couldn't you have noted this problem on your website? Is it fair to make customers wait 40 minutes on hold when it's your system's problem? This doesn't reflect any respect for your customers at all. I am disappointed in Allegiant but after reading the other reviews here, I suspect that Allegiant doesn't care. read more

Allegiant is a no-nonsense, budget airline that will get you where you need to go - period. Nothing fancy with these folks, which helps to keep airfare prices down. I recently flew to Memphis and back, and had no issues at all. The seats aren't the most comfortable, but like I said, Allegiant isn't fancy. I have an Allegiant credit card, which among other things will get you a free soda per flight. I ended up getting charged for a soda on this last trip, but I think it was just an honest mistake. The ticketing agents and flight crew are friendly, at least in my limited experience. Give 'em a try! Happy flying! read more

I flew Allegiant in May 2025. What a wonderful group of people!! I have COPD and I needed special attention. What a professional response. They helped me get on the plane, and helped me into my seat. When the flight was over, they helped me out of my seat, got me a special wheelchair, took all of my carryon bags to my ride, and wished me well. I've never been treated better!! I'm flying back in Oct 2025 and I'm really looking forward to dealing with these exceptional people again. read more

Terrible company had to change my outbound flight because my mother took a turn for the worse on her death bed. I moved my flight up by two days and was charged for a complete new flight. Allegiant airlines screwed me over so bad just a few minutes ago. I have not seen my son in over a year. As you can see from the photos, I had a flyfishing trip planned with my son in Kalispell today and all weekend. The gate agent when he checked me in a boarding pass that sent me to the wrong gate. When I went to board, they did not have me listed on the flight. My flight departed 20 minutes earlier. They admitted to their mistake. They said they were sorry and the gate agent supervisor. Channing said she could get me out on a later flight to Missoula. What the hell good does Missoula Montana do to me. By the time I son drives Missoula pick me up and we get to our camp spot. Warning! Allegiant Airlines is terrible! They cancelled my 96 y.o. mother's flight home. I tried to call customer service. It is nonexistent! You can hold for hours or leave a message to be called back. Left message 3 times. Never called back. Finally talked to "customer service" via messenger. They ask you to download a money transfer app to be "verified". That screams scam. I booked her another ticket and one of these agents cancelled it, but did not refund. He then basically blackmailed me to be verified using transfer app. I ended up buying her another ticket so I am now out $480.00, but she is home. BUYER BEWARE - THIS AIRLINE WEBSITE IS DECEPTIVE. I'm pretty good with technology, but somehow I purchased a bonus package. I kept trying to go back and remove it before buying the tickets because I couldn't figure out why the ticket got so expensive, but I couldn't change anything. I couldn't even see the breakdown of charges to see what was making it so much higher. I purchased the tickets thinking it must be all the extra taxes, flight fees etc. Once the tickets were purchased, I got the breakdown, which showed the "bonus package", which was more than the airline tickets! I did a chat with support after, and they said that there was nothing they could do. The bonus package even includes their "flex" which lets you make changes to your flight without a fee, but they still wouldn't let me make the change to not have the bonus. Booked a flight, flex travel in case I had to change the ticket because of my father's illness. He passed, needed to change the flight and because I didn't meet the exact rules, they wouldn't refund. Prior to this, and I screen shot the times on my phone, I called their customer service number, 55 minutes the first time, never spoke to anyone, 65 second time, never spoke to anyone, 45 minutes the third time, never spoke to anyone so had to go to the ticket counter. Call me stupid, after that fiasco I had to purchase a ticket for my daughter and her newborn. I did so and within minutes realized I had booked my daughter's ticket under her maiden name. Same scenario as above. Never spoke to a person, their chat does not work as they claim. And all I needed to do was change the name to her married name. Crazy! If they are cutting corners on service, where else are they cutting corners. My bad, I should have known better after the last time. And oh yeah, I forgot the agent at the ticket counter told me it was my fault, they couldn't do anything about my father passing and therefor it wasn't their fault so I got stuck with the ticket. This airline needs to be cancelled ASAP. Like wow, I didn't know a company could be ran so poorly. The night before Thanksgiving my boyfriend and I attempted to go see family, but were denied due to our dog that followed the guidelines listed online. They are so disorganized. We flew with the same dog, same carrier, same plane in April and it was completely fine. The excuse was changing every time we asked why we were denied. Beware!!! For reference the carrier was 13.8"L x 8.7"W x 8.7"H and the dog is 13 pounds. Jena would not provide her badge number or last name, and was told we could call customer service to get a refund. After 45 minutes on hold, we were informed that the $850 would be considered "forfeited funds." There were no more flights out of the airport and we had to uber home and still pay for the hotel and rental car. Not worth saving the extra money flying with them. Stay FAR FAR away. read more

I hate to complain about airlines, especially low price airlines because you do get what you pay for after all. WOW! - I need to change my rating for Allegiant. Make that Negative 25 stars! We just wasted an entire day waiting for a flight to leave. It kept getting delayed by an hour or two at a time due to "weather". Finally 7 hours later it was cancelled! We checked other airlines going in to SLC or Provo airport that day, and all other flights were fine. Now we had to book a flight for $400 one way and will have to be flying on the day of a snowstorm. Nice job Allegiant. I've given you so many chances but it just keeps getting worse. The price for the flight is great! If you don't need to travel with luggage, then this is the airline for you. It's similar to Frontier or other discount airlines. You pay for a carry on (other than a purse or small backpack) and you pay for a checked bag. You pay for snacks and beverages on the plane (if you want them). The flight crew is friendly but as they say "they are the cleanup crew" on the plane and you can tell...because it's not clean. Our pilot had superb flying skills and landed smoothly on an icy and windy runway. The biggest complaint is the luggage. It takes them at least 30 minutes to get the checked bags out onto the carousel. We waited for over an hour for our luggage when we landed. The check in process is online but if you are checking a bag, you have to go to the teller and there are no computerized tellers to check you in and print your luggage tag. It takes a while so be sure to add about 20-30 min of extra time if you are checking a bag. read more

After canceling a flight from Phoenix to Cincinnati that I was there for only 11 hours.They would not give me a voucher. Then canceled the flight til the next afternoon. They finally gave vouchers. I went to use it and would not accept on the website. 2 separate hours on hold to no avail I still could not get a response. I find out today a flight I had booked was never in there system ( confirm with a number ) the bundle I booked no longer valid. They changed there comp system. They absolutely are the worst . I wish I could give a no star review. We rented a car through Alligent for 8 days for our trip. My family told me to cancel because they would loan me a car when we arrived. So after waiting 4 hours on the phone to talk to a Alligent customer care representative they said if I cancel they would only get a refund credit towards future flights with them. On Monday, July 08, 2024, at approximately 0650-0700, my elderly mother and I arrived at the Allegiant Air ticket counter at Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport (AZA). Upon our arrival, the ticket agents denied boarding to my 81-year-old mother because she arrived within 45 minutes of the departure time (0740). They insisted there wasn't sufficient time to complete her check-in, baggage processing, and TSA clearance before the gate closed. The agent repeatedly emphasized that passengers must arrive no less than two (2) hours before their flight since check-in ceases 45 minutes prior to departure. She attempted to draw a parallel between AZA and Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX), suggesting a necessity to arrive 2-3 hours in advance at that airport. This comparison is utterly unrealistic and misleading, as PHX is at least four times the size of AZA, which is a single-terminal, 10-gate, small airport. Had the ticket agent exerted more effort in assisting my mother with her check-in rather than "educating" and debating with me about terms and conditions and indulging in trivial Instagram and/or Twitter posts of her followers, my mother would now be in Rockford, IL, relishing her 3-week vacation instead of me penning this review. The ticket agent could have easily contacted the gate agent to inform him of my mother's delayed arrival. Thankfully, we managed to rebook my mother on the next available flight scheduled for Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at 0700. However, this came at an additional cost of $131.00 and immense frustration due to an outrageous hold time of over one (1) hour to reach customer service, which brings me to my second grievance. Who in their right mind has an hour or more to waste on hold? Is Allegiant Air's call center severely understaffed, or does the airline grapple with such a multitude of customer service and flight-related issues that it results in a one-hour (1-hr) hold time? THIS IS ABSURD! Additionally, the call center agent exhibited extreme rudeness when I attempted to convey my dissatisfaction and frustration regarding the unaccommodating nature of the ticket agent, even threatening to disconnect the call. It was evident that he had a superiority complex, leveraging the excessive hold time against me. Despite my calm and respectful, yet stern, demeanor, I had to restrain myself to avoid call disconnection. I was merely being assertive, expressing my frustration over the ordeal my mother and I endured at the airport, yet the Customer Service Agent displayed blatant indifference.
