The new Dr has taken over he is so good at his job!! Very kind and pleasant, felt he really cared! Hope he stays forever!

At one time it was a great clinic. The Vet is semi retired, a new vet came in (she is now gone) and made a mess of things. We took our new puppy for its first visit and there was no temperature taken, did not look at the ears nor was there any lab work done! The support staff was poorly managed. They would answer the phone and place you on hold and not come back , when I would complain they would say they are very busy. They quit giving you itemized receipts saying they had system or printer problems so you couldn't even review before paying. ( this went on for at least a year). We noticed the clinic going from almost always full to maybe 1 or 2 people waiting. We would hear them telling callers to hold and watch them rarely going back even though they were not busy. The support staff blamed everything on them going corporate however it was THEIR behavior that was sabotaging the business! It will be a while before we go back there. read more

I always received great service from Dr. Smetak when she saw my dog. I received great service today from Dr. Crum. He was generous with his time while sharing information I can use to better care for my pet. He is the kind of veterinarian I want and I will go back to MVAC as needed. read more

BEWARE THIS VET WILL CALL ANIMAL CONTROL ON YOUR DOG!!!! CALLED ANIMAL CONTROL ON MY DOG FOR A SCRATCH BREAKING SKIN AND ALMOST PUT HIM DOWN!!!! After his paperwork had his warning signs about being anxious. The assistant insisted for her to put the muzzle on rather than ME. After the incident happened the assistant stepped out and said she'll be back, the appointment continues with the vet and when I went to check out they told me to go back to the room they called animal control. My dog had been going to them since he was 6 months old all the way up to 3 years old!!! read more

Every time I go there, they don't have records for my pet, even though I have been going there for years.

My mom took her dog here to get spayed and ended up dying a few days after the surgery. This is the worst animal clinic in Midland. Save your pets life and go somewhere that cares about your pet. read more

Called to get a new puppy appt a month out and it seems as if the lady doesn't want to even schedule us. Just called someone else instead.

Relatively young and healthy pet came in for stomach pain. She was playful that morning, went on a walk, eating like normal but would vomit shortly after. A vet there administered an anti inflammatory and pain medication. She became drowsy after, they said it was normal. She later passed in her sleep. I believe they over dosed her. Don't risk this happening to your pet. Stay away from this clinic. read more

Linda Smetak and the intern Meagan administered my baby three medications and she died that night. My pet walked and ate that morning and couldn't walk or eat 6 hours after we left. Linda Smetak showed no remorse. Bella was my best friend since I was 12 and they killed her in a single visit to the vet. PLEASE do not trust them with your pets, they do not know what they are doing. This has been a very traumatizing incident. read more

My dog Sugar was hit by a car and broke her front leg. The leg had to be pinned so it required surgery. After a long surgery, the procedure was a success. The staff and Vets were fantastic! I really am thankful that they were able to save Sugars leg. Highly recommended! read more

I'm new to the area and am not familiar with any of the places out here and she refused to give me any suggestions. Excellent Animal Clinic. I picked this place because when I needed to get my new feral kitten checked, they were the only place where I could get in without waiting 1-2 weeks. It was the best decision I ever made. The front staff are great and so are the vet techs and the veterinarians. My kitten has had multiple problems in his younger months where I needed to take him to the vet as an emergency. One problem was with his shots, and the other time he swallowed some ribbon and stopped eating for 5 days. Not only did the vet see my kitten immediately every time, they talked me through what was happening, what I needed to do, and negative signs to look out for. They really cared for the safety and well-being of my cat, and also for my OWN well-being! I have come in there multiple times stressed, scared, and clueless as to what to do about a problem my kitten was having, and they always helped me understand and make me feel a little calmer because I knew they really cared about my cats life. They ALWAYS call me back a couple of days after I bring Permian in to make sure he is doing okay (from a shot, getting fixed, or checking about the ribbon problem). The lady at the front desk called me to make sure the ribbon problem was taken care of and she remembered my kitten and was so glad to hear he was okay. The place is very cute as well because they have cats that live there and just walk around like they own the place. It drives my kitten nuts, but its the cutest thing. You can tell that they all really care about animals and they take their "patients" to heart. We are planning to move to Odessa, but I will drive the distance...we will NOT change vets. Its hard to find an animal clinic that you can truly trust, and I am glad that I found one. read more

Excellent and caring staff! Most recently have taken one of my cats there to be spayed. I couldn't make it there and get to work on time the day of her surgery. The staff allowed me to drop her off the evening before. They feed her and loved on to make sure she felt safe. They didn't even charge me for a night of boarding! The next day after her surgery, she didn't want to eat. The staff tried 2 different foods to find one she liked. When I had to let my dog of 15 years go to sleep, the vets and staff cried right along with me as though it was their dog that had to be put to sleep. I felt like I was among family. At previous vets I have felt like I was just another name on their list but not here. Dr. Walker, Dr. Smetak and staff have been treated me and my pets like I am a personal friend or family member. They great me by name when I walk in and take time to love on my pets to make sure they are well cared for. read more

I'm pretty new to Midland and called many vets in the area trying to get my pets in. Mesa Verde was the only office that got us a timely appt. They are very caring and take a lot of time discussing the treatment plan with owners. Just today, I brought in a stray puppy who had been hit by a car and they didn't hesitate at all in working her into their schedule. I'm so glad I found them. Today I had to lay to rest my companion of 16 years, one of the hardest things Ive ever had to do. On top of already grieving, the veterinarian who euthanized my dog showed no bedside manner or regards to us as a family whatsoever. First turning and positioning my dog away from me. After each injection was aimed unsuccessfully with my baby jerking away she finished and quickly left the room, leaving us to witness the after effects alone. Very poor bedside manner. My dogs small front leg where she continued to miss the vein and then injected the final dose continued to bleed out significantly with no dressing applied, leaving me to use multiple kleenex to hold. Upon her passing, we grieved for an amount of time and then could not locate the vet tech or veterinarian to take our dog from the room. Once we found the tech in the front office we found multiple staff arguing in a hostile environment. I was so thankful my husband came with me to handle the situation throughout. I had to leave out to the car to grieve appropriately. My dog deserved better than this, we deserved better. Our family will not be returning to this clinic nor will recommend. read more

So my husband and I are first time puppy parents and this place has truly been a blessing. We freak out over the littlest of things and we are so grateful for them always fitting us in and taking care of our pup! They have such an amazing boarding program too. Perfect if you have to take off and leave the pups behind. They walk them three times a day, feed them, love them and do an excellent job of babysitting them! Our pup has no problem going into this place to see all the techs and doctors! In fact, she is quit the hit and flirts up a storm and they are good at giving her all the attention in the world. There is no one I would trust more with my pup than Mesa Verde. We have had a couple scares and we always leave there worry-free and knowing our pup was taken care of and is always in good hands! I brought 2 cat to get altered this morning. They were so terrified that they peeded and pooped all over themselves in the time it took me to get from my house to the vet AND they broke the zipper on their carrier and escaped into my truck. I hobbled into the vet holding two terrified cats. The receptionist doesn't even look at me when I tell her my situation and ask for a crate NOW! I banged on a side door for help because I know there's a team of people there. She tells me there's no one back there. I said WELL SOMEONE IS HERE BECAUSE I KNOW YOU AREN'T preforming surgery. At this time their clinic cat and dog are running around (which is unsafe)... so my cats are getting agitated and digging into my shoulder. She keeps helping the guy she's helping and I told her that I though he would understand! She still didn't even call for help. So I plopped my cats (cover in pee) up on her counter to get her attention and she finally called for help. The receptionist begins to whisper to an other older lady who just clocked in. I told her she could at least wait until I leave to start running her mouth. I've just had Sooooo much higher standards at every vet I've ever worked AT OR WITH. Midland IS A JOKE!! A receptionist at a vets JOB is to HELP PEOPLE!! Coming into a vet can be stressful for animals and owners ESPECIALLY if they are juggling several animals. Anyone should be smart enough to know that when someone comes in holding two cats WITH CLAWS and tells you that their carrier broke... they need help NOW!!!! I don't even want to pay that place to take care of my animals, but I need them fixed ASAP. All the vets here are the same. The receptionist are worthless and know nothing about animals or customer service. All the she would've had to do was politely ask the gentleman she was helping to please hold on, pick up her phone and call for help. She refused to help me. BEWARE!! I have been to this vet possibly a hand full of times. The times before this last time were great! No issues with staff or doctors. Made me feel comfortable and like they knew what they were doing. This last time though.... was much worse. I took my pet for the first time to this vet to get his yearly vaccinations. I even had all of his shots before so they knew what to give him. He is a 5lb yorkie. They gave him about 4 shots in the same area on his neck and cleaned his glands. The next day I noticed he hadn't eaten his food and he had vomited. I figured he was just having a reaction to the meds so I left it alone. The days after weren't so bad he ate a little more but still hadn't been his playful self. I called the vet yesterday because I noticed he has a lump on his neck where he was given his shots. The lady at the front desk persisted to tell me it wasn't the shots he received and he must have gotten into something at home, while being pretty rude about it also saying she'd have to double book me cause the vet is very busy today. So I left it and hoped he'd get better. WELL... Today I woke up to him vomiting everywhere and he had diarrhea. I called the vet once again. I was upset so I had a higher pitch voice hoping they understood my concern. AGAIN I was told I was gnna be double booked and that the receptionist is more than positive it wasn't the shots that were given to him. She offered to let me talk to the vet herself and I said yes I would like to talk to her and the receptionist said well you can't cause she's in surgery right now, you're gnna have to wait until your appointment. So after all of my being upset and trying to figure out what could possibly be wrong with my dog I told the receptionist I'm gnna have to take my business elsewhere and sarcastically thanked her for her help and she hung up on me very quickly. WHO WOULD WANT TO TAKE THEIR PET TO A VET WHO WONT EVEN TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR OWN FAULT!! I will be taking my service elsewhere. To greenbelt vet. I have had service with them before for a very very sick animal and they were nothing but kind and helpful through the whole process. So thank you Mesa Verde for helping me make a decision on which vet NOT to use. read more

Seriously not even worth 1 star. This entire office staff, doctors included, were so hateful to me and my pet on the multiple occasions we came. I have a nervous pet that tends to act out during visits and instead of interacting with a knowledgeable caring staff, we got treated like dirt. During vaccinations they would stick my cat wherever they could manage during his episodes instead of sedating him as I suggested. I am now treating my cat at a different vets office for a sarcoma formed from improper vaccinations and I only have this place to blame. I am so unhappy with the services I've received and would hate for any pet parent to experience the same thing. Stay far away!!!! read more

I adopted a puppy from the shelter here in Midland and was having a devil of a time trying to get him into any of the vet clinics out here to get his last round of shots & rabies. I called and explained my situation and they told me to head down and they fit me in. Super nice office staff, with great prices! Recently my dog ate an entire package of laxatives. Call down there two minutes before closing and they took him in! I cannot say enough good things about this clinic and the care my dog and I receive! 10/10 read more

To start off the veterinarian that was assigned to my dog performed a major surgery on a Friday and left my dog alone all weekend. When we went to go check on her that Monday morning the vet informed us that my dog died 15 minutes before we arrived. The vet said that it was her FIRST time checking on her since the surgery that happened 2 days prior, and she couldn't even give us a proper reasoning on why she died. She also went straight to asking if we wanted her cremated or not instead of giving us a moment to grieve. Lastly we wanted to have our dog back not cremated in plans to burry her in our backyard but the same veterinarian that showed my dog no care also didn't give our wishes any regard and had our dog sent off to be cremated anyway. DO NOT come here if you care for your pets and if you do decide to come here do not let the tall, curly headed, light skin veterinarian (can't remember her name) care for your pets. read more

I've long been a client of Mesa Verde, but am seriously considering changing. There has not been a single time the past several months that I was not double booked and sometimes triple booked. Today was no exception. We need to euthanize our sweet cat of 17 years and I was told that I'd have to bring him in, sit in the waiting room with numerous dogs and cats and wait our turn, b/c the doctor is so blessed to have so many new clients. Really? I think the doctor needs to reassess her priorities and consider her existing clients. Isn't there a point where one should consider closing their practice, so that they may serve their clients in a more timely fashion? If nothing else, allowances should be made for those pet parents who are faced with the decision to let their pet children go, without subjecting the feeble animal to a waiting room of noise and activity and the owner being consoled by total strangers during a most emotional time. read more

We love this place!! And are so thankful that we took the recommendation from Beth at Lone Star Pet Sanctuary...The staff and doctor were really, amazing!! I had to get surgery done on one of my cats and I've never had to go through with something like that before. They made the process so easy and actually worked with my husband and myself...they had follow up calls and made sure we had clear instructions! Which was so helpful...which convinced us to take our other cat to get neutered and it was nothing less than we expected.....great service! So this will forever be our pets clinic! Took my pup here for the first time today. The office appears to be a little older, and maybe not state of the art, but I was very impressed. The ladies at the front desk were super friendly, and got all the paperwork taken care of quickly. The vet saw us quickly, was knowledgable, and gave us different options for treating our fur baby. Mesa Verde Animal Clinic - Time for a checkup at Mesa Verde - Veterinarians Near Me - Midland, Texas

This is the place to bring your pets. Great staff that go out of their way to insure that your animal family members are well taken care of.

Avoid taking your pet to this place. The office staff seems nice enough. But, the Vet has no right operating on any pet, ever. Smetck was given the task of a simple ACL repair on my 8 year old goldlen/mix Gracie. She said she would draw blood prior to surgery to make sure she had good numbers. She drew blood, discovered unfavorable numbers, liver issues came up, and decided after leaving 2 phone messages all within 1 hour to go ahead and operate without discussing the consequences. Any pet that has a liver issue is not 100% healthy and should never be put through any surgery. Gracie's body did not react well to the surgery and for 5 days they kept her under the pretense of making sure she could walk again after the ACL surgery. No mention of her looking like death and being extremely weak. I picked her up 5 days later in the afternoon, she looked terrible. Jaundice, very weak, she barely recognized me. Blood shot yellow eyes. I was told she woke up from a nap and that's why she looked that way. Please do not bring your pets here. Anyways, I brought her home, carried her inside my room and for three hours she was panting very loud and grasping for air and died a few feet away from me three hours after being discharged. She couldn't stand on her own, drink water, let alone eat anything. She was so drugged, so far removed from recognizing anyone. She died after a simple ACL surgery that should never have happened based on her blood work. Why do blood work and discover problems and still go ahead and do surgery without contacting me? Why? What's the point of bloodwork if your not going to adjust and adhere to unfavorable blood work? After the surgery, and prior to being discharged Smetck did say that we would have to address Gracie's liver problem but meanwhile to make sure she gets plenty of rest, continues taking the meds that made her look like death, and try to make sure she eats to help get her strength back. Instead of Smetck ignoring the blood work results, she should have postponed the surgery. We could have brought Gracie home, addressed her liver issues and had the surgery at a later time when she would be stronger. The surgery wasn't a matter of life and death, ( she actually was running fine on three strong legs, the back leg appeared to be no issue from stopping her running around the yard) although it did turn out to be her cause of death. read more

just a little information on this veterinarian my friend has had her cat since she was in college and my friend is now 35 years old so that should tell you she's a very old cat . this morning she woke up and her cat was having seizures and dying in her arms she called me crying hysterically asking me what to do the huge animal lover I am didn't want it suffering . I called this vet Mesa Verde in midland TX because it was closest to her house the woman that answered was very nice and sweet but quickly let me know that the veterinarian said that they would not take the cat knowing it was dying and suffering because it was not a patient there .... nothing more said I feel that it show a lot about the integrity of this facility to sit back knowing a animal is dying and do absolutely nothing for it.... its very sad the cat die shorty after and we called pets at peace so be careful who you trust to take care of youre babies I don't recommend this vet 07/07/2020 read more

Let me just start off by saying our four legged babies are part of our family! After the way my Sugar baby ( 17lb Boston Terrier) was sent home today after her surgery I will NEVER return to these people for care of any of my 4 furry family members! When I went in to drop her off for her surgery I was handed a piece of paper with all kinds of services such as blood test and the fees I asked if the fees for all this were included in the surgery total the front desk girl ( Lucy extremely rude and very unprofessional) abruptly answered No! I said okay well if we are interested can we pay half of the cost now and the other half in payments? She again responded rudely No we do not accept payment arrangements! Mind you I have had all 3 of my dogs seen at this vet and have always paid my bill in full before leaving! I said okay then just do the surgery! Next Morning I go to pick up my dog and the bill is $100 more than I was told it would be and I am basically given no reason why just that's what it is! I wait for my baby girl to be brought out to me and was not told anything about her surgery or if she had eaten or has already been given her pain med or ANYTHING! I will defiantly not be taking my furry family back and I will not recommend them to anyone! read more
