I contacted Baze Vet Clinic regarding my French bulldog, Niko, who was in obvious pain. Initially, I thought his discomfort might be caused by a dog bone. Since I am not a veterinarian, I called the clinic for guidance. They asked several questions--such as whether he was eating and using the bathroom--and after I answered, they scheduled a morning appointment. I took time off work to bring him in. At the appointment, I explained that Niko was experiencing neck pain, was hunched over, and was having difficulty walking and breathing. The clinic performed X-rays and bloodwork. After about 45 minutes, I was told that he had backed-up gas. I specifically asked the doctor about Niko's neck pain and difficulty walking, but he said he was focused on Niko's stomach. I took Niko home and tried to gently rub him to identify the source of his pain. It was clear the pain was coming from his neck. After doing my own research, I suspected he might have IVDD. The following morning at 10:30 a.m., I contacted Baze Vet Clinic again. I was told the doctor would call me back, but no one ever did. When I called again, I was told the doctor was too busy. By the time I got home, Niko had become completely paralyzed. I rushed him back to the clinic, only to be told they couldn't do anything for him. Based on my experience, I strongly recommend not wasting your time or money at Baze Vet Clinic. Niko ended passing away the following day! read more

Absolutely unacceptable level of negligence. In under 30 minutes, this vet clinic made three serious mistakes that could have killed my dog. First, they administered two vaccinations that he wasn't due for until 2027--even though his records clearly showed that right in front of them. They also gave him a rabies vaccination two years in a row, despite it being a 3-year vaccine. After I caught those mistakes and voiced my concern, they swapped technicians and proceeded to give him his ProHeart injection--only to pull me into a room afterward and tell me they had given him four times the proper dose. They didn't even know if it was lethal and were waiting to hear back from poison control. Let that sink in: they overdosed my 9.4 lb dog with nearly five times the amount he was supposed to receive (0.94 ml instead of 0.2 ml), and had the nerve to still charge me $269 for services that should have been declined in the first place. Thank God my dog survived--but the level of incompetence and disregard for safety here is beyond alarming. It genuinely feels like they were trying to run up the bill without caring what happened to my pet. If even one person had been doing their job properly, these mistakes could have been caught before they snowballed. This kind of gross negligence is exactly why people sue. My puppy ate a chicken foot and ended up getting sick. I called this veterinary clinic and they got us right in. Julie was the vet tech and she could not have been sweeter! Truly an angel. They took X-rays right away and luckily everything was clear. The clinic administered some medication and fluids to help with hydration and the vomiting. I cannot recommend this clinic highly enough! They also have a curbside check in which is very convenient and prompt. 10/10 we received absolutely stellar, superb care! read more

I cannot recommend that anyone use Baze - I used to love the vet here, but they have gone downhill recently. A couple examples: 1) I had to put my 15-year old dog to sleep and the staff was laughing and joking right outside the door to the room where I was grieving. I'm not overly sensitive, but other vets will dim the lights so the staff knows someone is saying goodbye to their beloved pet. They also didn't have any sort of tissues in the room - I know it's a small thing but when a grown man is bawling his eyes out you could at least offer him a Kleenex. 2) I took in a dog they said was very sick, too sick to even be allowed in the clinic. They said it was very serious and took blood for a test that should take 5-7 days. After nine days I called and was told I would receive a call right back. Nope. Left a message, no call back. Day ten I called again and was on hold with the receptionist, not even a tech would come to the phone. The results weren't back, and I had to specifically ask them if we should continue any sort of treatment - they would have thought to do nothing for him in the meantime while waiting for the tests. Additionally, not unlike many other doctors, they rarely honor appointment times. Even if you show up politely a few minutes ahead of your appointment so you can check in right on time, expect to be waiting in your vehicle at least a half hour before receiving service. Edit: After posting this review, I did receive a very nice, polite, and informative call that explained the samples were held up by FedEx. Wanted to update my review. I was upset when I gave them a negative review. Just called to get my dog in for an ear infection. Got an appointment for the same day. It is so busy here some vets say it can take a week or more to get an appointment. If you need to get in sooner you have to go to the emergency vet. I got to my appointment and got right in. Everyone was so nice. They seem to really love my dogs which makes my dogs feel better. Everyone was very professional. The place is very clean. When I got there they had just finished mopping the floors. There wasn't that usual smell at veterinarian offices. You definitely see women's touches as they have painted and decorated. I'm glad I didn't change vets. I'm very happy and I will recommend them to anyone looking for a veterinarian. read more

We are not too sure about this place. We never got to talk, see the vet but a friendly staff came out to vehicle to retrieve our pup. The visit was to have our little girl checked for pregnancy. Looking at our pup, she definitely looked as if she was producing milk, 9 months old, hanging as if she were pregnant. The staff brought our girl back, as they had performed an ultrasound. She told us that our girl was not pregnant and I ask why is she hanging, looked pregnant to us. She agreed and I ask why, what would cause this ... the reply was ..they have no idea.... wait, this is a vet? Sorry but this just seems strange to us, so we are taking her for a second opinion. My dogs been here for over 4 years, everything was good till they got a new vet, my German Shepherd got skin problems which was ringworm, the first vet immediately diagnosed the problem and gave right medicine. then second time when the ringworm came back and the new vet didn't notice what was the problem and keep beating around gave so many different medicine which cost a fortune and priced doubled. The manager and staff work there laughed at me when I insisted the vet to give my dog ringworm pills, they looked like my dog's health is not a big deal to them, the vet attitude is good, but she wasted a lot of my money for gave wrong medicine, eventually I insisted and paid high price for ringworm medicine, and my dog's skin healed after the ringworm pills. Be careful this shop could be wasteful, and watch out the poor management. read more

When I moved to midland, I did not expect to rescue and raise two puppies from birth. Once I found Max and Pepper (my puppies)I knew I needed to get the veterinary care for shots and etc. But raising two puppies at once is not cheap!! Or so I thought.. Baze Animal Clinic is where I've been taking my two little angels for the past few months because their customer service is outstanding, their prices are the lowest I've found in a long time, and they generally care about how my pets are doing and understand how much they mean to me. I love bringing my animals here, my husband and I recently moved to Midland and finding an animal clinic that we can trust was definitely a priority. I read many reviews before calling Baze Animal Clinic and they got me right in with our 2 Rhodesian Ridgebacks. Immediately our dogs were excited when we got there and the service was great!! They got all their shots and lots of love from the workers. I took my cat in this morning for a check up and since she was a stray to get her all checked out, the treated her so well ( I was super nervous because it was the first trip to the vet for her) and made her feel comfortable and loved. Unethical Practice! Not an opinion, proven! Baze refuses to provide customers with written prescriptions for their pets. This is considered unethical by the AVMA. "AVMA's Principles of Veterinary Medical Ethics states that if a client requests a copy of the prescription, the veterinarian should grant their request, and a majority of states have laws or policies requiring it." Baze is aware of this principal and continues to refuse provide written prescriptions. I have to wonder what other unethical actions they will take in the name of profit. If you take your animal there you will have to pay what ever they decide to charge for your pets prescriptions. You are at their mercy or you have to start over at a different vet. I would like to give this clinic less than one star. My son and daughter-in-law just rushed a puppy to this clinic for urgent help after choking. They were told they would not be seen because they did not have an appointment and informed that they don't deal with emergencies. The puppy died as a result. Borderline unethical. AVMA's Principles of Veterinary Medical Ethics encourages the writing of prescriptions upon request. Baze does NOT follow these guidelines and charges you a $15 fee PER script, PER animal to fulfill elsewhere. But not really where ever you want because there are certain pharmacies they won't approve even after you've paid their "release" fee. They will NOT write you a WRITTEN script either, even after you've paid their ransom. Also, Baze likely will not tell you about this fee until after you've placed an online order that they've denied for reasons that, at the time, are unknown to you. read more

You'll see this exact concern on another post here. I began taking my new puppy to Baze. My biggest disappointment is the fact they will not write a prescription for the medications they provide which would allow me to shop pricing. They forced me to purchase the meds from them. They came up with several excuses, including chewy.com, allivet.com, and pets.com are not reliable sites, they wanted to monitor my puppy (even though they never called or asked how my puppy was doing), I should support small business, and several others. Their drug prices are nearly double what you can by on these reputable online animal pharmacies. I'm new to the area and this is definitely the first time I have experienced this with a vet. I never actually met the vet either because they never came out to the car to discuss my new pet or they were 'in surgery' so it's hard to say my puppy was even examined by the vet. At one point they offered to get closer to the online pricing, but by then their lack of customer service for my request had me concerned for my new family member. Baze is very fast and very affordable. They make their appointments by 15 minute slots so they have plenty of time to tend to every animal that comes in. I have often waited no time to have my pets be seen. The staff is very friendly and helpful with any concerns or questions we have. Our dog loves going there because of how friendly the staff is to her, and they give her a treat (with our permission). Overall super friendly and worth going to. read more

Words will never describe the care this clinic offers. They are so genuine and sweet. They have been there for my pup since the day I got her. We went through a Parvo scare and the clinic got me in ASAP and were able to diagnose and treat the problem at hand and put a puppy smile back on my little ones face. They consistently work with my hectic work schedule to ensure I can get my pup taken care of. They are always so friendly, kind and extremely attentive to the concerns I have and attentive to the well being of my pup. I always walk out with an ease of mind because I know my puppy is in the best hands in midland. Took my dog in because he was throwing up and hadn't eaten in 3 days. The lady gave her a shot and nausea medicine and said she had just eaten something bad. Turns out she had sharp toy that punctured her stomach and she almost died. Glad I took her to another vet the next day. read more

Dr. Hays was there to put my dog to sleep when it was time. He told me exactly what to expect and prepared me for anything out of the ordinary that might happen. The vet techs were also very kind. I was given time alone with my dog both before the injection and after she passed. Obviously this was an emotional experience for me, so I was so grateful that the staff handled everything with such professionalism and respect. read more

You never talk to a vet, the techs lie to you, and you get surprise-charges. This is the second time this happened to us, so this is not a one-off. Everything is relayed through a clueless tech who would rather lie to you than say "I don't know, let me ask". It is curbside, so you feel pressured to make decisions while this teenager is baking in the sun outside of your vehicle. The tech LIED to me about what medication our cat would receive. She said "it is a probiotic with vitamins" but it was just an amino acid supplement- I am concerned that she does not know the difference. They charged me for something I did not want and did not receive. They also gave my cat a vaccine without telling me they were going to do it (yes, it is a required vaccine, but (1) they did not ask if she had it done elsewhere, and (2) YOU HAVE TO TELL CUSTOMERS WHAT YOU ARE DOING TO THEIR ANIMAL and not by a surprise handing them the bill. I repeatedly asked if they received our records from another clinic and the tech again lied to me that they had received it (they did not). The vet made recommendations without seeing her previous records. When I confronted the tech, they finally got the records sent to them. DON'T LIE to your customers. The office manager is sympathetic if you call to complain but that is after you have been bamboozled- too little too late. read more
