terrible service and front desk clerk. was shocked by how I was handled and hung up on.

I have been taking my animals to A to Z for about 14 years now. This was the only Vet I trusted, and believe me I tried other vets that were less expensive even took my babies to Seminole because the vet there is a third of the price of A-to-Z costs, even with the drive there and back . But recently, my cats have been diagnosed with roundworms because I rescued a stray recently, and she ended up having worms. I can't get one of my cats to take the medicine and surprisingly I called the vet to see if they could help me and they just gave me the same advice to crush up the pills and put it in water and put it in a syringe and give it to him. Well, I tried to let the girl answer the phone. No I did all of that and I also tried crashing it up and putting it in tuna oil, and I tried putting it in his favorite food. He's not the friendliest cat so he gets very traumatized. Whenever you wrap him in a blanket try to force something down his throat. He will literally bite you and claw you. But that's just his nature, we knew this about him when we rescued him as a little kitten and we just let him be the cat that he wants to be. He doesn't bother us unless we try to pick him up or try to give him any medicine apparently. I called A-to-Z just to have them help me and I was turned down. Roundworms don't just go away on their own. They're fatal and I'm trying to save my animals. I'm very disappointed with this Vet. read more

I have now had 2 separate unpleasant experiences with A to Z Vet. Let me point out that Dr. Jessica has been amazing. Both occurrences have been with the front desk. My first appointment 3 weeks ago was only supposed to be a wellness exam to switch over information to my profile along with an ultrasound. I was informed my dog would need to be about 18-21 days after "possible exposure" when I informed the front desk that she would roughly be about 16 days so I thought it would be a good idea if we moved the appointment out further the lady was persistent that would still be a good window for U/S. I took my dog in, waited about 10-15 minutes standing in line (which I didn't mind since they were extremely busy) when I got to the front the lady informed me of how "late" I was even though I had arrived on time but was standing in line the entire time. Which I did let her know. We proceed with the appointment, my dogs shot records were provided to the tech and they proceeded to give my dog the same vaccines she already had, when bringing this to the front desks attention they disregarded my concern and I still got charged for the vaccines she did not need & they were not told to give her. Also, of course we were informed by the doctor it was a little too soon for the ultrasound so we would have to come in for another visit when she hit the 21+ days mark. Fast forward to the new appointment I'm checking out and as I am walking up to the desk the lady at the front desk yells out a patient name and tells me I'll need to hold on. I patiently wait for her to finish, she then answers the phone after helping the patient then proceeds to look over to her coworkers desk and asks another client if they're needing help (which her coworker was helping) then she proceeds to call me up after. I was informed by the front desk when I made the appointment that the ultrasound would be a certain price total. I go to check out and get a completely different price (higher than what was quoted). Which if the front desk would have scheduled me out for a later date like I had asked for the initial visit all these "new" fees could have been avoided. I asked about the price increase and was told it was a new patient fee and the ultrasound, when I told them I was there a few weeks ago she changed her response to it being the physician fee for seeing dog. In my life as a pet owner I have never EVER been more disappointed in a veterinary clinic staff. I called to see if I could get my Cuban False Chameleon in to see what was going on with her. I explained what was going on (or tried to...was cut off by the person in the phone) when she just stated "we don't have a doctor here today or tomorrow." This was a lizard that I got FROM THEM that was rehabilitated by Dr Todia. You would think they would take an interest. I asked the girl what I was supposed to do? She gave me no suggestions other than call around. To my knowledge, Dr Todia is the only Dr that cares for reptiles in the area. I asked if they could simply make a call to the Dr, explain the situation and maybe call in some meds to try and save her. Her only response was "the doctor would have to be here and we don't have a doctor here." She then started talking to other people and just ignored me while I was still in the phone. She talked to one client and asked if they were checking in and then apparently started chuckling it up with a co-worker and telling her "I told him we didn't have a doctor." She then just hung up on me. Why do I go there and entrust my pets to them if I can't get treatment when we need it most? If they can't help in emergencies, then it just makes them a place to get checkups and shots. Very VERY unprofessional and certainly not very compassionate. Update: I wanted to update my review from yesterday. I received a personal text from Dr. Todia who went above and beyond after finding out about my experience yesterday. She reached out to me while she was out of town to find out how she could help my pet. This is a big deal to me. She mentioned that she would call and inform her tech of what needed to be done so that my pet could be treated. While my experience with staff was very unpleasant yesterday, Dr. Todia (who has always been awesome) redeemed our relationship, and I am very grateful. Don't let one bad experience with staff determine whether or not you use A to Z. read more

office staff is worthless mid conversation answers the other line, then proceeds to tell me to repeat myself, as I do the second time starts laughing (guessing playing grab*** with coworkers is more important). I was calling to be seen for getting second opinion on a canine, been going here for long time and we will never take our animals there again, strongly urge others to find other means as well. especially when they are operating without a vet, this was the little and only information the receptionist gave me. read more

I'm a new patient with A-Z, but I've spent literal years taxing my dogs back and forth to my vet in Lubbock because I'd had such a hard time finding a good vet in Midland. To address some concerns I've seen people have: No, getting an immediate appointment is hard, particularly as a new patient. They are BOOKED. They are for a reason. If you have a time critical need as a new patient, they aren't the people for you. Inconvenient when you're new and in need, but responsible when you realize it's so they can properly care of the patients they have. Yes, there's a smell. That's because this is an exotics vet that houses numerous dumped exotic animals inside the office including reptiles - snakes, bearded dragon, etc - and a porcupine. When they say A-Z, that's because they handle literally any animal, be it exotic, small animal, or large animal. That comes with smells. If that's not something you or your pet handles well, I suggest a different vet. Now, why, with these considerations did I work through the wait? Doctor Vree is fantastic. We brought in our little dog who threw out her back because our previous vet suggested twice a week therapy. He wanted an x-ray, was able to actually downgrade her injury (went from a suspected spinal lesion to a far less worrying 'did something stupid and hurt ourselves, didn't we?'. Still needed the therapy and we've had exactly a *week's* worth and after two weeks of no notable healing while we were waiting, she is taking off like a shot through the house (which is not allowed while she heals, so she's still kennel bound, but it's good to see she CAN be a little misfit again). Then, we had a rash show up on our boxer. They can do basic consults via text in between existing appointments as long as you are an existing patient. We had antibiotics by end of day and the dog never set foot in the clinic. They have the most extensive animal rehabilitation options I've ever seen in a non-specialist office. The adoration their patient's owners have for the place is palpable every time you go in. Numerous people who do rescue and foster work insist on them. Personally, I am a very pleased customer, but I hope this helps spare the time of people who wouldn't be a good fit. read more

I took my dwarf hamster to them for treatment. One of the issues he was having was one of his eyes would get sticky wet then dry and close up on him so I would need to clean it with water daily for him. When I brought him in, his eye was sealed shut so she could see, she forcefully pryed his eye open with her hand first thing when she walked into the room after giving him to her, I was so mad, she could rip his eye doing this, dwarf hamsters are so delicate, that should've told me how unprofessional and how not passionate Dr Jessica was first off and should've walked out. She then ran an Xray on him to get a little more info on what could be the possibility going on inside his body due to a bump protruding on his side. The medication they prescribed, only did him worse off than he was and killed him within 4 days of taking him to get seen. My heart is broken and he suffered 1 whole day in my arms because he wanted to be held as he was dying and I don't live in Midland, where I live he's considered an exotic animal and no vet around here would take him to even euthanize him; just terrible; they are still lives and SHOULD NOT just be WRITTEN OFF as if they are nothing! Just like a Medical Dr for a human, if a vet cannot and is no longer and cannot be passionat/compassionate about their professio, then Get Out Of Your Field and Do Us the Favor so a patient feels good about paying for good services. I brought an injured bird to them and made a generous donation. I called a few days later to see if the bird had lived or died. I was told by the girl on the phone that she couldn't give out that information once an animal had been surrendered to them. They did last time. Therefore, poppycock on whoever made that rule and those who follow it. I really appreciate them taking injured animals, but not giving an update is just a control thing. I sincerely wish the worst on the control freak who instituted this not so laughable rule. read more

Now I do hear this place is a good place but if You have insurance on your dog which most of you should do and your Animal gets hurt or injured then you can file claim and the company of the clinic would have to pay or reimbursed. read more

I have never in my life given a review. But I had to with them. I wish could give zero stars. First, walking into the clinic smelled horrible even with their pet candles they sell, my dogs first instinct was to run out of the place and I wish I would've listened. I took my dog in just to get his teeth cleaned. They asked me to drop him off at 8 and pick him up at 4. So I did. I was already nervous because he'd be under anesthesia. I get there right at 4 to pick him up. I'm sitting waiting nervously. I look over to find the vet dragging and choking him with their rope. My stomach drops in anger. I get him and I struggle taking that rope off to put his collar back on. Then I notice poop all over him!!!!! I'm enraged. I look at the vet and ask have y'all taken Him out at all today? She's like uhmm well... I understand he went through a procedure and he's scared and he has to wake up out of being groggy. But check up on your patients! He obviously woke up and needed to go and was ignored. My dog will hold it until he really can't. All the vet says is well I can take him back so one of the techs can Clean him up. I was like no it's fine he's not going back there again, He's scared enough I'll bathe him when we get home. She walks away giving me no information on how my dog did during the procedure, no after care directions. Nothing. I go up to the front desk and ask for that person again since I want to know how things went. She comes to the front desk instead of coming out and speaking to me. And is like yes? I was like sorry I didn't hear you say anything about how his procedure went. She's like it went well, we had to pull a tooth. Then a blank stare. I walked out. I came to this vet because of their good reviews. I DO NOT recommend them. I felt they were unprofessional and without empathy. This is my dog who I see as my child and what we went through was disgusting. read more

Took my dog in for an ear being full of blood, was told it needed surgery, paid $500. 2 weeks later they take out pins and ear fills back up the same day. They give us medicine that makes the dog sick so I take it back in. They try to send my sick dog back home.I demand we figure out what's wrong. They run tests and charge me $300 more dollars to fix what they prescribed. I ask if they were going to fix the ear that I originally paid for and they say I will have to pay for another surgery even though no time has passed. They do not stand behind their work. Poor ethics. Not worried bout your animal, only your money! Now I have paid $800 and the dog has the same issue. To top it off I called to speak with the vet and the lady at the front desk yelled at me how they can't talk on the phone until after 6 and they don't even get to take off for lunch, I have no control over that! read more

I did some research before picking this veterinarian. The reviews were good but after seeing them yesterday, I feel they deserve nothing short of all 5 star reviews. They were amazing. They did a thorough exam of one of my dogs and kept me informed every step of the way. We started our treatment plan yesterday and I feel so comfortable knowing my dog is in good hands. I feel so blessed to have found such an awesome place. The staff was so friendly and patient and knowledgeable. I recommend them to anyone looking for a great veterinarian. read more

I'm so grateful to have found a vet in Midland that cares about the welfare of my dog! I have tried 2 other vets in town and they were not a good fit for me and my dog, but A to Z has stepped up and saved the day. They took him in even though he is a new patient, many places wouldnt even accept him. They treated him with love and care and provided an accurate diagnosis for his condition so that we can make decisions that enable my bullmastiff to live his best life in his senior years. I am one of A to Z's many out of town patients, and for good reason. Sometimes word of mouth is the best advertisement for any local companies and it's no different for A to Z. I would have never found them if it weren't for some very nice strangers who recommended them to me when they noticed Harleys limp I had been trying to get diagnosed at our local vet. Our local vet did nothing to diagnose Harley's limp or offer any tests other than the X-rays they took which they claimed showed nothing. They prescribed pain medicine and sent me home without a follow up plan. So, I requested a copy of the X-Rays and made an appointment with A to Z Veterinary Clinic. I have read some of the negative reviews about the staff and front desk receptionists before I went to the appointment, but I thought I would see for myself. Customer service is a big deal but if the vet is as good as people say it out weighs the customer service. Well, I had no issues with the staff, in fact, it has only taken them one visit to recognize me and Harley, my 1 1/2 year old mastiff mix as soon as we walk in the door. Dr. Jessica Todia was very impressive from the start. She gladly used the x-rays taken from Angel Vet clinic in Odessa and did a thorough physical exam on Harley. She even went as far as taking Harley outside to see her walk and run. She developed a plan to confirm her thoughts on a diagnosis which came back as OCD of her shoulder and elbow. Knowing that surgery is probably not an option due to the very expensive and technical nature of the procedure she went right into researching other treatment options. It seems that thinking out of the box is a highly positive trait she uses when diagnosing and treating her patients. She is currently researching Platelet Rich Plasma injections as a treatment option for Harleys OCD. A combination of great customer service and an awesome veterinarian make this place tremendously recommendable. Don't let the negative reviews impact your decisions to visit this vet especially if you have had a hard time getting a diagnosis and treatment plan as I have at other clinics. read more

So disappointed in this clinic. They have such good reviews and good word of mouth reputation. My poor mini schnauzer has hurt his back leg and cannot even walk on it and is in terrible pain. Everyone told me to call this clinic because they are wonderful and very compassionate. I called and the receptionist told me she had no appointments until the second week of August. There is nothing wonderful or compassionate about not seeing my poor puppy. I understand Midland is busy right now and if it was an appointment for his shots I certainly would have understood but to deny a poor dog treatment for an injury is just plain cruel to me. read more

We had to take our little Yorkie in for some allergies problems and Dr Todia and her staff are so nice and caring. We were in and out in a few short minutes. Unfortunately the meds we were first given gave our yorkie an allergic reaction but I called them and they got us back in right away and since Dr Todia was in the middle of another pet's surgery Dr Wilson gave her an allergy shot. They are both awesome, the vet techs are wonderful and they help you get your furbabies fixed back up in no time. We are definitely making A-Z the vet clinic for our current and any future furbabies we have. I highly recommend them! While your in the waiting room they have a few critters you can see such a fish tanks and little birds. This place really cares about your pets. read more

Unfortunately, pets seem to get sick like little children; after hours and on weekends. My wife's Flemish Giant rabbit took a bad turn on a Friday night, developing a case of rabbit tilt. This condition causes disorientation and loss of balance. As a result, the bunny is is pain and stops being able to eat. Saturday morning rolls in and we are on the phone to find a vet who can deal with rabbits. 99% of the calls directed us to A to Z clinic. The problem is they are not open on the weekend! We called the emergency number and were directed back to the vet clinics who directed us to A to Z. After speaking to an exotic animal clinic in McKinney Texas for any palliative care suggestions, we tried everything they offered. The goal was to make it to Monday morning to get her to A to Z. Unfortunately, she expired in my arms late Sunday afternoon. Today my wife, who is understandably upset over lossing her pet of 3 years, called A to Z to ask why the emergency number mis-directs the caller to clinics which cannot help. The B***h on the phone replied that they can't be there every day & that they have lives too. Great, go live your life but I will never trust such self-centered people with the health and well-being of MY pets. read more

I was not impressed. The office was so hot and not even fans. The smell was so terrible, it almost knocked me down coming through the front door. Assistant not very knowledgeable and I didn't get to speak with the vet. She in and out so fast. I thought she was coming back, but nope. Not very friendly on the phone and the lady up front was not very nice either. I asked her how soon they recommend getting puppies spayed and neutered? Her response was... Don't you think you should get all their shots before you think about surgery? Wow, really! Don't look in the nasty fish tank up front. I couldn't believe the fish were still alive. I have lived in many different cities including L.A., Long Beach, and Dallas and this is the BEST vets office ( and I can say with no hesitation) that I have ever visited. Read on if you want to know why- it's worth it. I recently relocated and have visited 2 of the most popular vets in Midland and felt I received mediocre to fair customer service and diagnosis. Within the last couple if months I lost one of my best friends and lovely cat to lymphoma. I let these other 2 vets know this and they said my remaining cat was in perfect health- just suffering from depression & maybe beginning phases of renal problems. I stayed vigilant Bc I believed it was more and after continued weight lost I knew I needed another opinion & luckily I read good reviews on Yelp & found A to Z. I told them on the phone Monday morning about the situation and just wanting another opinion. They got me in later that same day. I brought my cat in, explained the symptoms, handed over all the blood work and through a wonderfully thorough yet efficient exam Dr. Todia felt a mass and immediately did an X-ray. A large mass was discovered and he was in surgery to have it removed 16 hours later. He is now in recovery and she believes we got it all. I stayed the whole morning for the procedure and was given consistent updates on his progress. The ENTIRE staff was unbelievably compassionate and so sensitive to my cat and me. I also got to see him twice after recovery including a room set aside for my cat and me. I was supposed to have a follow up exam with one of the other vets in November to see how my cats 'renal problems' were shaping up w a diet change (dr Todia didn't feel like he had that problem) but I am absolutely not going to see anyone but her or her staff. She was incredibly competent & compassionate - a rare combination I've found- plus a wonderful diagnostician. I believe she saved my cats life when other vets missed this mass that would have killed my only cat in no time. I feel grateful to have found her and this incredible team of people. After a horrible experience with another vet in town, where they implied that I hurt my cat, this vet took the time to figure what was actually wrong with him, and assured me that I did not hurt him. Not only that, she cleaned out his ears and checked his entire body. She did not make me feel rushed and she had a ton of compassion for me and my cat. The staff at the desk were very friendly, as well as the vet's technician. Everyone was wonderful. I feel like my kitten will be very well taken care of here and I will definitely be using this vet from now on. read more

I called to get my iguana seen because she was very sick and not very active so I called to see if I can bring her because I live in Monahans and the lady had told me it would be better if I brought her in the morning the next morning I told her I didn't think she was going to make it and she told me well it takes more testing to be done on them so it would be better if I brought her in the morning even though I told her I don't think she'll be alive by morning if I don't bring her now this lady could careless my iguana is now died cause of her cause if she would have let me bring her in she could of made it and wouldn't have suffered all night read more

I would like to praise the prompt and professional way in which Dr. Todia responded to our family's veterinarian needs. After a recent procedure performed on some rescued animals resulted in higher than anticipated costs, she clarified and explained each aspect of the treatment and even waived some of the fees to reduce the costs associated with finding homes for these animals. This is the worst vet's office and receptionist named Rachel, I have EVER seen. My Chihuahua is making a choking sound, I called and called because the line was busy for 40 minutes, and a girl answered and put me on hold after I told her what was going on, then Rachel, who I have talked to before ( with a very bad outcome) gets on the phone finally and says their first appointment for Roxie would be NOVEMBER 20, 2017!!! I already had had a problem with Rachel when I called about my dog Sadie who was going to die soon, and had been being seen by Dr. Todia for a long time, and I called to ask, when that time came in the next few days could I just bring her in? She said I would have TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT to put my darling dog down!! And they could do it on Thursday. That would have been 5 days later, and I wasn't going to know exactly when, and didn't want to walk around my house with an executioner's appointment so to speak, I wanted to be normal with my precious 14 year old dog. I called the Emergency Clinic about her, and they said bring her in when you are ready. I let Dr. Todia know about my experience with this dumb receptionist and now a new dog and almost a year later, she still has this idiot. Dr. Todia will have many clients and never have to worry, however, it is outrageous what I have had to put up with. My closest friend told me about them 2-3 years ago, and I called her, and if she needed in with her dogs, they just told her to come right in there!! Obviously, I will never go there again or ever recommend her. She doesn't need my business, but I will continue to tell everyone about her horrible ridiculous help. read more

I went to order my dogs heart guard prevention on 1800 pet meds. A to Z denied my request saying I HAD to get heart guard from them (which is significantly higher in price!) My dog is 7, we've moved a lot and had several different vets. I've NEVER had this issue. Its always been approved with no issue! It's no different than 1800 contacts!
