We were greeted so nicely from the crew there! We felt like family! We met the owner and a couple of her sweet kiddos and she was so gracious to share her family story with us! It's inspiring! It's a great farm and it was cool to see the animals roam freely. We enjoyed seeing the kale, chickens and dogs. We are looking forward to returning next weekend!

They give you a choice of dark meat or white meat and I chose the latter. The chicken was well cooked and mildly spiced, although the breast was slightly dry. As for the spice, for me it was fine, but I suspect it might be on the mild side for lovers of jerk spice. Not so with the bed of red beans and rice it was served on. This is an ample portion and was not only delicious but came with quite a spicy kick. Red beans and rice weren't the only side either, the cabbage the box lunch came with was tender and delicious. Wait is that white bread home made. Yes it is! You just don't see that in even some higher end places. This is a family owned place and I got a chance to talk with them a bit and what a bunch of really nice people. This place is currently nestled between the hotel villages to the West and Southlake mall on the East. There is more than one vacant business or building and the lack of maintenance on the surrounding grounds made me wonder if the restaurant was open for business. I am glad it was. They certainly make up on the inside for what is lacking outside. The interior has ample dining space, is cheerfully decorated in an island theme and they have reggae playing softly in the background. The owners mentioned they are looking at a more welcoming location close by. But if you are looking for an inexpensive but delicious box lunch give this place a try. A Deeply Disappointing Customer-Service Experience…read more Among many wonderful experiences, there are unfortunately times when an experience is simply horrible. That is the only way I can describe the customer service I received at Chuck Wheeler's Vienna Beef Hot Dog Stand in Gary, Indiana. After waiting approximately one hour, I began placing my order with a young lady at the counter. Although I had already told her what I wanted, she asked her coworker to take my order instead. I found this odd, but I remained patient. She then looked at me with what appeared to be disgust and, although she seemed to be hoarse, yelled at me. Surprised by her behavior, I said, "Wow, I waited an hour for these hot dogs, and now I'm not sure I should have waited." She immediately snapped at me and said, "You are not going to disrespect me." She then refused to continue serving me and began taking the order of the person standing behind me while I was still at the counter. I stood there in complete disbelief. The cashier looked at her coworker, then back at me, and finally said, "Ma'am, she is not going to serve you." When I did not respond immediately, she repeated it. I want to be clear: I did not yell, curse, threaten, or disrespect this employee. I was simply shocked by the way I was being treated. If she was not feeling well or was unable to assist customers appropriately that day, she should not have taken her frustration out on me. I am originally from Gary and had returned home for my family reunion. All I wanted was a taste of the past and an opportunity to support a local Gary establishment. Instead, I left feeling embarrassed, disrespected, and deeply disappointed. This establishment is in serious need of improved customer-service training and a reminder that every customer deserves to be treated with courtesy, dignity, and respect. No customer should wait an hour only to be yelled at, ignored, and refused service without justification. I sincerely hope management addresses this situation so that no other customer is treated the way I was.
