The Yum Dum Truck is incredible! I wish you could order the dumplings by the dozen because they are so flavorful and swim in a scrumptious soy sauce mixture that leaves your taste buds begging for more! Service was fast and friendly, if only they had a sit down restaurant, I'd be there every week!

I tried Yum Dum Truck at Taste of chicago, which tainted my experience slightly because I had to wait in the longest line for an hour before I could get my food. However, the fried chicken bao I got was so amazing that I'll overlook the line and give this place 5 stars. I'd buy that bao any day.

    Tofu bao. Tasty and light!

My place of work has food trucks visit us for lunch during the summer months. So for lunch on this day, Yum Dum Truck came to visit us... Nice truck. I got the tofu bao. Very tasty, light, an healthy choice for lunch. I wish the bao were bigger or that they gave you more for the price of two. Nonetheless, I am a fan :-)

The staff is very friendly. I tried the Kincheesy Rice Balls which were pretty good and unique. I do think $4 is too much for them though. I also had the pork and chicken dumplings. I thought they were kind of bland. I have definitely had way better. I did not try the bao sandwiches but they are loaded with meat and veggies. My friends enjoyed the sandwiches. I also like the fork/chop sticks they provide with the meal. I saved it to use at home!

I tried a lot from the Yum Dum Truck and was pretty satisfied with everything I had. The best deal is getting the $10 meal deal as it's basically like getting a drink free. I tried the Yum Dum Truck at the Schaumburg Food Truck Fest and the wait was like thirty minutes. My first advice is follow them on Twitter & find the truck out and about- not at some fest. That way you will avoid the lines as much as you possibly can. What I tried - Kimcheesy Rice Balls $3 ~ Loved these and they had just enough spice to them. Sriracha Pecan Brownie $3 ~ So strange to have a spicy brownie but it was also kinda cool. The brownie itself was actually quite good and I'd recommend it for a little somethin' somethin' different in the dessert department. Pork Belly Baowich & Korean Chili Chicken Baowich $3 each - Both baowiches had very good baos ~ soft and yummy. The ingredients inside were good on both, but I wouldn't go as far as to call them amazing. It is a good lunch time option ~ quick & easy & cheap. Good food, I'd definitely buy from them again (minus all the crazy lines) and excellent service!

Having Yum Dum food truck with Jeff, the owner, handle the food for our outside wedding celebration was a genius idea.

One of my better ideas ever was to have Jeff and his food truck serve lunch at our local wedding celebration. Having Jeff, handling the food, which was perfectly prepared, allowed me to have a relaxing time at our party. Guests loved the idea of ordering their food from the truck and because the food truck staff were so friendly, people enjoyed chatting him up while they briefly waited for their food. I didn't have to deal with plates and the chorks (chopstick-fork combo) added a unique twist to the creative menu. I highly recommend Yum Dum for a party!

Make sure to get the rice balls!!! They're so good on their own, but the dipping sauce takes them over the top. I love the spicy sauce which is a mix of Jalepeno's and Sriracha Mayo. I also had the Siracha brownie. It was just okay. It was a little to dry for me and I'm not sure, but I was expecting a little spicy kick to it. I will definitely be back to try more items!!!

Ordered the sample platter here when the truck was located outside of the Merchandise Mart. Meal was a bit of a mixed bag. The dumplings were fine, nothing special. A few ended up being a bit doughy and stuck to the paper they were sitting on. Ordered the crispy fish and pork belly bao. The pork belly was extremely fatty and not in a good way. The crispy fish was very good, would have that again. The best item was the kimchi rice balls. Nice texture and flavor. If you have option of grabbing a side or a couple of crispy fish or shrimp bao that would work. Everything else seemed just ok.

I was so happy to run into the Yum Dum Truck at the NOSH's Lunch Market today! It's a food truck that makes regular stops at NOSH events and seems to have quite a following judging by the line on the plaza. Words cannot begin to describe the deliciousness that I found at Yum Dum. I went for the $10 lunch and got a great amount of high quality food for $10. I would recommend the pork belly and Korean chicken baowiches with the kimcheesy rice balls on the side. The baowiches are a good size and chock full of sweet and spicy flavors. I don't know if I have ever had anything so delicious as the kimcheesy rice balls. They are balls of sticky rice, smothered in Siracha and cheese, then lightly deep-fried. Pure heaven. I want one of the funny tanks emblazoned with "Get Sum" on the back. Maybe if I order enough $10 lunches they'll give me one? I am certainly up for the challenge! I would encourage anyone and everyone looking to escape their lunch rut to get out to NOSH on the Plaza. Every Thursday and Friday from 11am-2pm a group of food trucks/vendors get together and serve delicious and well priced food at this beautifully sunny plaza. There are even guest DJs spinning during your lunch hour! Make sure to visit Yum Dum first though, fittingly they have the first spot on the plaza too. I know I will be back to try the dumplings and sesame noodles.

Veggie dumplings, cheesy rice balls, and crispy shrimp Bao, Korean chili chicken bao
    Devyn H T.

Delicious. Yummy. Awesome. DUMPLINGS: These dumplings were good, I mean veggies dumplings are pretty standard, so it's hard to mess them up. BAOS: The shrimp was better than the chicken, but they were both very good. Next time, I'll try the crispy shrimp and crispy fish BAOS. The bread is very sweet and really compliments the sweet of the shrimp. CHEESY BALLS: Much better than I thought they would be. I mean I thought they would be good, but these were incredible. Absolutely the best part of this meal. Definitely recommend and definitely will return.

Stopped by at Wacker & Adams (Thursday), in which Yum Dum was amongst several other trucks there. So happy to finally try Yum Dum! The line at Yum Dum was by far the longest of all the food trucks. I waited right about 10 minutes and maybe another 5 for my food. I got six dumplings of the pork & chive and the thai chicken (they were out of veggie), which cost $5, as well as one of each of the 4 baowiches (2 for $6). The dumplings were very good and enjoyed them much better than the baos. They were however on the small side. The noodle wrapper was super fresh as were the fillings, especially the pork & chive, which was also super tasty. The baos were good too. I enjoyed the shrimp the most. The pork belly was a little disappointing, as it was dry. However, all of the flavors were spot on and exciting. Prices are about right. Definitely would come back for a pick-me up snack, but making a meal out of here would be too pricy for me as I spent $17 (prefer under $10) to fill me up. The $10 meal sounds like a decent deal, but I would still be left hungry, as it is only 2 baowiches or 6 dumplings with a side and drink.

The place was close to our hotel which was even better after exploring Chicago. When we go here we checked in and were asked to stand on the side and we will be seated. It did take awhile to get seated where other folks who didn't have reservations were getting seated before us. A hostess went to our kids menu on the table and then we waited some more. Finally a male host came and sat us. I think that was like a 15/20 wait. Our waitress was friendly and hospitable. She was cool to talk to and attentive to our needs this evening. We got the crispy rice wagyu and those were delicious. We also got the yuzo ribeye and black cod and those were really good. The kids loved the ribeye!!! I tried to get the lollipops but they sold out but I heard they are a great hit too. The noise level was very loud. It was so loud due to a party next to us who had a large gathering and were drinking heavily. Other parties left and the other side of the restaurant was still full with other folks but none around this loud group. Anyways - food wise and the waitress service was great. My two friends and I ordered the Korean fried chicken baos, two rolls of sushi (Panda Roll and Sake to Me), and Pad Thai to share. The Korean fried chicken baos were my favorite dish. The crispy chicken was glazed in a sweet and flavorful sauce, and each bao was also stuffed with fresh veggies that provided additional crunch. My favorite sushi roll was the Panda Roll because it included shrimp tempura and was drizzled with a combo of sweet and spicy sauces. The Sake to Me roll was also good, but I could have used some soy sauce to mix with the wasabi for additional flavor. The pad Thai had solid flavor, and I appreciated how it did not skimp on the protein. While I thought it would be jarring to consume such a wide variety of cuisines in a single meal, it was actually fun to share and try a little bit of everything.

The food was completely underwhelming, and when we shared our concerns with the staff, nothing was done to address them. The service was equally disappointing. Our server spent much of the time sitting on her phone while we waited for basic service like water refills, being asked about drinks, and receiving the drinks we ordered. We repeatedly had to get up and find someone just to receive attention. As for the food, the gyoza was bland and tasted like unseasoned pork. The lemongrass beef stew curry, which was highly recommended, arrived cold, had an odd texture, and lacked any real flavor. Most shocking of all were the drunken noodles. I've ordered them countless times over the years and always considered them among the best in Chicago. This time, I couldn't get past a single bite. Every dish was left unfinished. We didn't finish a single plate and didn't take any leftovers home--something that never happens for us. Between the poor service and incredibly disappointing food, this was an awful dining experience from start to finish. Unfortunately, after being a longtime customer, I won't be returning.

If you have a party of three then you're kind of forced into buying two of the same dishes. Which is strange. Traditionally most dim sum dishes have three pieces. Rarely see 2 pieces being offered especially for double the price. We ordered their Jiaozi, Char Sui Bao, crab Rangoon, chilly chilli noodles, and their Xiang long Bao. All were great. The chilly chilli noodles is served cold and was very flavorful. The Xiang Kong Bao was amazing. The potstickers was probably my favorite dish and it's mess up char Sui Bao. Sipping on a Highball while watching the food cooking up in the kitchen captured the exact vibe I missed from Japan. The Pork Okonomiyaki was unreal! A taste and quality I never thought I would be able to get back home. Sweet, Savory, Umami, all the flavors that make them so addictive. I can't wait to return and bring friends. They have Hiroshima style with the yakisoba which I also miss from my travels there. We are going to have to order multiple of everything. & MUST try their donuts, they look dangerously good.

Everything is cooked before arriving, so grills are for keeping yakis warm and crispy. They had a…read morespecial Mexican inspired okonomiyaki when we visited that fell flat on flavor. The matcha kakkigori also wasn't shaved fine enough to keep the ice from melting into Hawaiian style shaved ice. The Osaka style beef and traditional Hiroshima style yaki saved the meal enough to enjoy ourselves though, and were very flavorful. The restaurant itself is tucked right behind Morgan station but is so much bigger inside. The furniture and even dishware also felt like they were picked very intentionally to complement the grilling plates. The layout of the restaurant means it can be great for really any kind of occasion or group size.
