Great experience from the planning phase to project completion. Our designer, Pat, showed up on day one to view the yard and try to understand what we wanted, but we didn't really know what we wanted other than a pergola. We discussed a turf area for our dog, boulders, brick patio, and xeriscaping. A week later I realized I didn't want pokey, spikey, pain-inducing plants in the yard my dog and grandchildren would be playing in. Pat graciously updated our design to include a second sitting area for a fire table and replaced the xeriscaping with a raised area that includes a desert willow, rosemary, sage, and lavender. The day before the project the materials were delivered, the day of the project a team of apparent experts showed up and finished everything except the pergola before the end of the day. It was amazing. They were fast, friendly, and left everything better than they found it, including the side and front yard! Yes, they used the extra materials to cover the shallow graveled areas of my front and side yard, and leveled them out. They swept the dust from the road and driveway, watered everything and left. The next day the pergola was built with the same customer service and attention to detail. We're are beyond happy with our new yard! We decided to go with Mesquite because we got online and saw the great reviews and figured they must mean something. WRONG!!!!! we have had so many problems with our turf It is sickening. The company has been out over 15+ times and still cannot seem to get the turf part right. When we first met Lynn, we really liked him and honestly still do. we have been happy with the concrete that was done and the other couple landscaping things that were done by Mesquite, but when it comes to turf it has been an absolute nightmare. We really wish that we would've asked around more because that's when we started hearing the horror stories about everybody else's turf problems too. On top of that, we paid extra money so that we could have the fewest amount of seams possible and every time they have come back out they've had to add another piece of turf or 10 and now I couldn't even give you a current count of how many seams are in my backyard, but it would probably be close to 40. It looks like a patchwork quilt. If you decide to meet with Lynn, then ask him what the bosses name and phone number is. If he tries to tell you it's Juan or Jose RUN!!!!They were never willing to tell us who the owner was, and to this day still won't. Second time the city of Mesa came out and told me I had been losing a gallon a minute for the past two weeks...so that water bill should be fun. Also left the Job unfinished after being paid in full, with some promised stump removal never done. read more

Lynn was out a couple days after contacting him for a quote. My wife already had ideas of what she wanted and Lynn had some ideas of his own. The end result was perfect. We are in a new construction development so there are many others getting their yards done. Most of the projects take weeks to complete. Lynn promised 2-3 days and he was right. The crew was fast and kept the job site clean. They left the street cleaner than it was at the beginning. The pergola really turned out great too considering we only had a 2D view. The experience with Mesquite was not everything we hoped for. The product on the outside looks great, but everything underneath is not so good. Their workers are good guys, they are just pushed to hard to finish in a unreal time line. We were told our front and back yard would be a 1 day job. After 50 years in the construction trade I knew there was no way they could complete the work we wanted in 1 day. It took them 2 days, and that was still not enough to do a class A job. This is where the problem is with this company, they try to push everything to hard and end up with loose ends and subpar work. Our sod area was hurried up, old dry sod was used, minimum grading, no soil prep, sod seams had 1/2" to 1" gaps. Paver areas did not have proper amount of gravel base rock under them in areas. They filled our planters with rock and debris from old yard removals. Tried to push a cheap tree on us then over charged us for the install of a tree we supplied. Our driveway looks like a pack of kids went nuts with there sidebysides and left all kinds of wheel marks. And worst of all they tried to charge us for work not completed. I believe this company can do a good job if they take their time, but I think they are pushed to get in and get out. If you chose to use them, keep an eye on them, make sure everything is spelled out in the work order. Ask questions on what you get and don't get. Measure all footages installed and check what was charged. They were not the cheapest price we got, but I used them due to their good reputation and the size of the company. I asked them to price out work on rentals we have before our work was done. We won't be using them again which is sad because I can see the talent they have. Who ever owns this company needs to rethink the unrealistic rush they put on the crews and the loss of return clients and referrals. read more

Excellent experience with Mesquite Landscaping. I'd definitely use them again and would recommend them. I have used another (highly rated) landscaping company for a previous project and Mesquite's level of service, planning, & execution blew them out of the water. The up front consultative process was excellent and what I expect of a landscaping company. We laid our our vision and Miguel helped fill in the details with recommendations about how to use the space, layout, and plantings (appropriate for space and sunlight). We were then provided with a computer aided rendering of the project, which is super helpful to ensure alignment and execution of the project (the prior company I used did not have this). The project execution was amazing. The project consisted of installing turf in the back yard, building a back yard planter bed, regrading and putting rock on a side yard, installing a paver patio, new paver walkway, new plantings, and removing and re-sodding the front yard. A team descended on our home and knocked out the whole project in 1.5 days. The up front alignment and project plan ensured the team could just arrive and dominate. Spoke to Pat and scheduled an estimate for a partial backyard remodel. After our initial consultation, Pat scheduled a Zoom meeting where we discussed the plans of our remodel. Surprisingly, the plans were very inaccurate and we spent much time going over what we wanted again. I though we had an understanding of what was going to be done and we were given an estimate of around 15K for over 2000 sq/ft of turf, paver work, drip line work and a concrete basketball court slab. The day the workers showed up they got busy and everything started off well. That was until my wife caught one of the workers urinating in our back yard. That was just the beginning of the insanity that I'm STILL going through. Where the basketball court is now I previously had a swing set with sand in it. Pat was specifically told we wanted the sand removed (because who wants a bunch of sand around their b-ball court). We also told Pat that we wanted to keep any left over quarter minus because we could use it to fill in around the b-ball court. Pat said we could have it since we paid for the material, but I'd have to move it myself because it wasn't part of the initial quote. Fair enough. I told him I'd move it myself but I wanted what was left over and he agreed. I was quite surprised when I went out front at the end of the day and all of the left over quarter minus was gone and taken away never to be seen again. However, my neighbor 3 doors down came by to thank me for the quarter minus he got from one of the workers for his horse shoe pit free of charge. WAIT...I'd have to move the product I paid for by myself, but Mesquite moved 8 wheel barrows full of my product to a neighbor 3 doors down free of charge without even asking me?? Apparently so. Once the job was "finished" I was doing a check with Pat and discovered that NOTHING was done with the drip system. Pat assured me that he would have someone fix it the next day, but he had to have final payment tonight. I paid him the final payment and that was the biggest mistake I've ever made. I also noticed a large seam in my turf and when I brought it up to Pat he said that the line was common upon installation, but once everything settled it would fade away after a month or so. So, fast forward almost a year later. My drip lines still haven't been installed properly and every time I call Pat I get the same old line of how he'll get someone out within a day or two but it still hasn't happened. Remember, this has been ongoing for almost a year. The few times that someone has been out to correct something that wasn't done properly, they show up unannounced, don't speak English and have no idea what they are suppose to fix and I'm somehow supposed to explain it to them. I still have a significant gap in my turf where the two seams meet in the middle. I have a ton of sand that was never removed as promised and my drip lines still haven't been fixed. I had a worker piss in my back yard and another worker give away materials I paid for to a neighbor when they wouldn't even move that material inmy backyard for me. I EMPLOR ANYONE TO AVOID THIS COMPANY LIKE THE PLAGUE. They do not honor their word and I'm considering legal action. Complaints will be filed with the ROC and if not rectified then the AG's office. read more

I love the idea that Lynn will create a 3D version of the backyard so you can really see what it'll look like. Each backyard project we've had completed was completed in one day. Came out for a quote then after numerous calls told me it usually takes a week or two for an estimate after I called several times to see what happened to him... my job was completed by another company before they ever returned my numerous calls. I can't imagine what it would be like if they had to come back for anything.. I would seriously look into them before giving them money..and if they are family owned as the flyer suggests they are no where to be found. They should really spend their money on getting reliable help instead of putting flyers out. read more

We had our backyard installed in August. Good pricing and very nice people overall. Low review is due to workmanship and placing blame on our new home builder when their irrigation installation failed and underground leak caused my front landscaping to cave in. Furthermore, we've had a leak in our back yard for months and after a couple trips, Mesquite claimed it was no leak detected, however, we have a puddle that we cannot get rid of despite turning off the water and allowing them to troubleshoot. Leslie and the team were so kind and helpful that it hurts me to write this review but when they deflected blame for their poor workmanship to our home builder and didn't own their mistake is where I lost confidence in them. Do your research Update - the owner never followed through as promised and have someone come rectify the issue. Also, his plea that they would never blame a builder is false because he is the one who blamed them and refused to regrade and correct the burst pipe and sunken lot area. I will be filing a dispute with my bank due to this. Be very careful out there. read more

Our sprinklers messed up on our yard, and Iv been wanting this issue fix but this company does not care to communicate with you after they took your money for the project. They can give you a courtesy call when they head over but choose not to because they know it's not important to them anymore. If your not home they don't care they have sent a worker over to my house on 2 different occasions I asked last time for a courtesy call and got nothing. Watch out for the Dynamic Duo.......Pat and Cris. When I was researching landscapers, I came across Mesquite Landscaping. When I landed on their page, I was reading the reviews (big mistake as it looks like only the good were posted). In any case I decided to give them a try. Pat came out and looked at what needed to be done, looked like he was taking notes and was writing down everything I was asking for. Well then the 30 minute Zoom call came, spent half the time correcting things that were in this "under impressive" 3-D drawing. Then had 15 minutes for questions and was told we needed to end as they are only allowed 30 minutes on a Zoom call. Was then told we could do the rest by e-mail and if everything was not perfect on the drawings we could adjust when they are here to do the work. We set a date and then at 5 am (no advanced notice of when they would be here) in the middle of the dark Pat wanted to go over the 3-D drawing to make sure things were right (mind you I was half asleep not knowing they would be here that early and we were looking what needed to be done with a flashlight). Pat then left and the others got to work. Two hours later I reminded Pat of where the lighting should go as we discussed during the initial walk through. He told me to go tell the landscapers, so I did (BTW, I would think he should maybe tell his workers this, but I did it anyways). They said ok, finished and just left without letting me know or having me check things out. What a horrible job they did. Landscaping lights were not where I wanted them and I could not move them since they did not leave enough wire to move them around. All of the wires were left above ground on top of the rocks. They were putting in new paver steps along with the existing ones and mixed up the pavers so you had a few of the faded mixed in with the new. Then they left coke cans and candy wrappers all over my yard, not just a few. Then I reached out to Cris, apparently Pat and Cris share the same phone and they only communicate through text and dont let you know who you are talking to. I told her about the problem and she said Pat would be out later as he was on another job. She them asked when I was going to pay, mind you this is one hour after the landscapers just left. I told her I would pay once the work was completed. She told me they did the work and I needed to pay and that I was "unethical" for not paying until the items they left were fixed. Anyways Cris got nasty and I told her to have Pat call me. I wish I would have read the other reviews on here and not just their site. Some of the same issues with Pat and Cris. It sounds the other designers at this company are much better to work with. If you get these two, ask to work with others! The job they did was WAY overpriced and very poor-quality work. 4 months later I am having to fix things I had them do. read more

Miguel and team did both our front yard and backyard of our new home. We had received multiple bids on both and in both scenarios his team beat everyone else on price and timelines. In both yards he got them done in ONE DAY TOTAL!!!! not only was this amazing to have it done and completed beautifully but our neighbors were in shock as they were waiting 1-4 wks for completion and the run around from their chosen companies. We'd definitely refer everyone to use Miguel and team for all landscaping needs we've been more than impressed. Our front yard we chose pretty basic to meet HOA guidelines but our back we did rock, travertine, synthetic grass, and a fire pit that we ABSOLUTELY LOVE!!!! Mesquite landscaping just finished our landscape project in Gilbert Arizona. My boyfriend and I could not be happier. Lynn, our designer was wonderful to work with. On our first appointment with Lynn he came out to our home, listened to our ideas and had some wonderful feed back and suggestions to add to our project. He went over every detail of the project and the amount of knowledge he brought to the table was not matched even close by the other companies we interviewed. Three or four days had passed and Lynn called to say he had finished our design in 3D and wanted to come by and show it to us. My boyfriend and I were blown away by the level of detail. Lynn was able to show us our entire project from every angle including from inside the house windows so we could see exactly what our landscape would look like. Lynn was also able to show us with the landscape would look like at night with the lighting and it looks exactly like the 3D renderings he showed us. The installation crew were some of the nicest people we had ever met. They all seemed to really enjoy what they were doing and they were done in less than a day. We had artificial turf installed as well as gravel, plants and trees. We also had a paver patio installed as well as pavers over our existing concrete patio. The difference was night and day. When the crew finished they knocked at the door to see if everything was to our satisfaction and if there was anything else we needed. They cleaned everything immaculate, including the street. We gave him our ideas and he gave us some great ideas - and seeing it all put to life was exactly what we needed before making a purchase! Miguel was so helpful and creative with his ideas. We have a smaller backyard - and they were able to complete the yard in ONE day. It was so nice to not have to do this over a long extended period of time like most landscaping companies. 0 stars for sure. German knocked on our door and quoted me $75 to trim both our low palm trees. Awesome. I told him to come back the next day when my husband was home and I had cash. They showed up on time and did a great job. We asked for a quote to put in sprinklers and lay sod. They quoted 1200 and again, hired on the spot told to come back the following Monday. They asked for $400 in advance for supplies. They showed up and went straight to work. German asked if we would mind paying the entire amount and we obliged. After all, they'd proven themselves.... He put off coming back for a few days saying he couldn't find sod in stock anywhere. (Not cool or believable). When he finally came back they only had enough to do less than half the job saying that's all that was in stock and would come back when he found more. Needless to say he never returned. We ultimately had to order our own sod and finish the job ourselves and paid $500. (P.s. that process was quick and easy so there's no reason they couldn't've done the same) We tried and tried to get ahold of German and finally weeks later his son called saying his dad didn't understand our messages. Once we told him they stole from us and never finished the job he hung up and of course we never heard back. Yes, shame on us, huge shame on us for fronting payment, but unfortunately we thought they were a good, honest, hardworking people read more

We had Mesquite do our back yard even though they were not the cheapest but I that Juan gave us some suggestion that we didn't think about but liked. So he said it will take couple of days to finish. I was like wow okay. Well, it took 2 weeks but that was okay because there were some cement works to be done and it's a big yard with few tree trunks to be taken out and etc. Weird thing was they first dug out the backyard so it was clean slate then they started to put the pavers and gravels and flagstones. They didn't put the irrigation for our two fruit trees that was in the back. When everything was done it was beautiful. I was so happy. But I didn't see irrigation for our trees and when I asked Juan he said don't worry then they dug the gravels and put the irrigation on. I was like what??? Don't they do this before putting in the stuff. Now our gravels which was perfect was dirty with our red soil. He said all the irrigation for the back is cut off and only the new irrigation for the trees were working. Then they left. Well the next day we notice our backyard started to pool water in some parts of paved areas and gravel areas and flagstone areas. We called and Juan told me to send him some photos of the yard where there was problem. So I did, and he said they will come tomorrow. Well he didn't come and no phone calls. I waited the whole day and called him back the next. He sent one guy and again he dug up the gravels and did stuff and said for sure this time everything is off except for the trees. So first time they said this was a lie? Anyway this was so stressful unlike our front yard project which was no stress just easy. The next day I saw one of our flagstone looked wet. I turned off all irrigation to dry for 3 days. But it didn't dry and our dogs didn't pee there because they don't pee on flagstones or pavers. They like gravel for bathroom duty. So I called Juan and left voice message. Also took a picture of the flagstone that looked wet and took it again after 3 days to prove that it didn't dry. It had same pattern of wetness for 3 days. I text him many times no reply and no phone calls. I have text proving he didn't respond and I text him politely for help. Well after the stress we searched website and found that sometime flagstones can get stains and it could be that if the wet pattern doesn't change at all. I am happy with the looks of the backyard but if I had to do it again I would have gone with Urias for sure. I did not like this stress. I will have to say if you do go with Mesquite don't pay them full until one week of finished work just in case there is problem. I wish I did. read more

To cut to the chase, we are extremely happy with the final outcome of our backyard landscaping done by Mesquite Landscaping! It was by chance that we happened upon this company and decided to give them a call to see what they might be able to do with our dirt lot. Leslie answered the call and met at our house for the initial consultation. We were fairly specific in what we were looking for without trying to micro manage the process too much. The goal was to have a low maintenance, but inviting space that would feel nice and comfortable year 'round. Of the weeks, we went back and forth on some of the design aspects, making sure that it fit our needs and our budget. Leslie was absolutely great about taking all of our input and helped us consider some alternatives that we needed when we found out that some of the choices weren't readily available. Originally we had chosen native Mesquites, but after careful consideration we decided that it would be best to consider something else. Instead we chose a Mastic tree and a fruitless olive tree. Unfortunately the olive tree wasn't available in the shape we wanted, so Leslie recommended the Acacia Mulga. The backyard is now a miniature desert oasis and a delight to spend time in. Btw, the construction crew of eight (including the company owner Juan) were absolutely fantastic to deal with during the construction process. They were able to put it all together in about 12 hrs total. Bottom line is that we can highly recommend this company for your landscaping needs. read more

My experience with Mesquite Landscaping wasn't as pleasant as I had hoped. The 3 star rating is NOT directed at the installation crew, they were great!! My design/project manager Leslie G. needs to improve on communicating and response times with her customers, and following through with customer requests. It seemed once I had committed by depositing half down, she faded away. It almost always took 2-3 requests via voice messages, emails or texts to get the information I requested. I had one big concern during the planning that the design be within my HOA's guidelines. The initial design was not and I requested some minor changes. These changes were not adhered to, due to the installation crew not being provided the most current information!! I'm now concerned I may have compliance issues later. The product list was revised twice during the planning. When the rock delivery arrived they had the original rock list, she did not provide them with the most current product list!!. She was on site for 15-20 min, if that long, the morning the crew arrived to start, then vanished. She was not there through ANY of the installation, did not respond to any calls or texts of mine during the installation. I had to reach her by asking one of the installation crew members to contact her. She was very prompt and arrived within 30 min. after the crew left to be paid the remaining amount due. It's a shame but no future references from me. read more

We found Mesquite through our neighbor who used them to do their pavers and artificial turf. I was really impressed with how responsive the company is. We worked with Miguel to come up with some ideas. He came and drew everything out in our backyard with spray paint so we could really understand how our space would be used. He gave a few suggestions that we incorporated into our plan. I ended up changing up a few things and had him come back out three times to redraw my ideas. He was very patient with my indecisiveness. I had consultations from two other companies and both took a long time to get back to me. The other companies also said that our project would take as long as three weeks to finish! I know from past experience that having workers at your home for many days can be frustrating. Mesquite landscaping finished my whole backyard and frontyard in four days. They have a large crew working from 6-4:30 every day. They worked so hard and only took breaks for lunch. They even planted shrubs and had irrigation running to plants that I had purchased on my own through Home Depot. Our project included natural grass, gravel, pavers, tree and shrub planting, landscape lighting, a propane fire pit, and retaining walls. It's only been a week and I already have gotten compliments. I even see people stop in front of my house to take a look at the improvements. The price was very reasonable. I am happy with their customer service, prices, work ethic, and responsiveness. I would highly recommend them to others. read more
