Found this on Michelin List as Bib Gourmand; so glad we were able to add this establishment to our dining choices. Be sure to start with a proprietary cocktail, and explore the menu item of the day. The pork and shrimp dumplings were a treat, as well as the overall fusion flair and zest.

This restaurant was very interesting. Despite having Asian inspired mexican dishes, their slogan is "not fusion!" However, I would pretty much describe this place as fusion. Make sure to message them on what's app to get a reservation as they almost always require reservations to get a table at night! Me and my party ordered three birria ramen, the soft shell crab buns, shrimp potstickers, and pibil dumplings. We got the taiyaki for desert. I also got the yuzu tonic. The shrimp potstickers and pibil dumplings were both delicious! A little on the oily side but the sauce was very savory and the meat inside the dumplings were so juicy and flavorful! The soft shell crab buns each contained half of a fried soft shell crab. The soft shell crab itself was crunchy and meaty but the buns weren't that special. The birria ramen was pretty salty and small portioned but tasted exactly like it's called, noodles in birria consome with birria meat, onions, and cilantro. The taiyaki was really yummy! It had a few different flavors going on (fruit purée, egg custard, fruity sorbet). The yuzu tonic was yummy, tasted like a faint orange drinks (yuzu is a citrus fruit). I don't regret my experience here, it was a good to try but a little on the expensive side (compared to other restaurants in the area) and the flavors didn't blow my mind. I recommend trying if you're curious but wouldn't go back again myself except to maybe try the dessert they were out of: the Thai coconut raspado.

By far the best restaurant in Tulum. We have been to Tulum a few times now and always find ourselves eating here multiple times. The service and food always blows us away. We have been to similar restaurants such as Arca as well, however Mestixa will always be our favorite time and time again

Just off the main intersection as you roll into Tulum is Mestixa. It's is a funky and eclectic little restaurant that is gaining cult popularity status. As a few Yelpers have mentioned their motto is "It's Not Fusion", but I have to agree that it is. Doesn't matter, the food is AMAZING. They seamlessly blend the flavours of Asia with Mexican flare. I found the combinations to be thoughtful and well executed. We tried the Pibil dumplings, skirt steak bowl and the pumpkin and yam red curry. All were super delicious. We eyed up the Birria ramen but will save that for the next visit. The waiter Vincente said it was us absolute favourite dish. All the staff were attentive and friendly and also I met the head chef who is actually from Toronto. There is also a location in Playa Del Carmen. I had a chance to meet some staff from there as well as they were at the Tulum location for a quick visit before their dinner service in PDC. We will likely try that location at some point soon as well. Apparently they have a more Korean style BBQ set up there. Overall I would highly recommend Mestixa. You won't find anything really like it in the area. It's becoming a "hotspot" so I recommend making reservations if you're coming after 7pm.

This was incredible -- we had high expectations and it easily blew past them. We started with a pretty big order and then added on more because the first few dishes were so amazing. In all, we got the soft shell crab buns, karaage sando, chochinita pibil dumplings, birria ramen, fish aguachile, and skirt steak al pastor. Every single bite was amazing, and I'd happily order all of these things again. The crab buns came out first, and we loved these, but they make actually have been my least favorite. The dumplings came out next and were flat out incredible -- some of the best dumplings I've ever eaten. The aguachile was also amazing (especially with the squid ink tapioca cracker that comes with it), as was the birria ramen, although my wife wished we had gotten it without cilantro. The skirt steak al pastor was probably my favorite dish of the night -- it would be hard to make a better rice dish, and this is the thing I'll be dreaming about until next time we come. We also loved the karaage sando, which was a late add and we were basically already full by the time it came, but it was so perfect that we happily shoved it down anyway. I expect this place to be far more hyped by the next time we come to Tulum, and rightfully so. It is an absolute gem.

They were open in a different location before, closed for a while, and opened again at 15th and 8, across from the Palacio Municipal. The restaurant is nice, comfortable and covered in pin up girl art. Service was friendly and our server spoke English well. The menu is mostly different Asian dishes-Thai, Vietnamese, Indian-with a couple of European options thrown in. My group all ordered appetizers to share and Asian entrees (Thai curry, curry noodles, Pad Thai), and everyone was happy. My favorite appetizer was the dumplings, but the samosas and satay were also good. My entree was red curry noodles with chicken. The regular size was a lot of food, with very tasty sauce and well cooked chicken and veggies. The grilled pineapple was a nice addition. The spice level was hot enough for me, but the addition of their house habanero sauce kicked it up nicely. The premium margaritas were also good. I would definitely go again and will enjoy the leftovers.

The menu is focused on their specialty, HOMEMADE noodles! So delicious. We ordered 4 different dishes, all were scrumptious. The friendly server made great recommendations. The pad thai was a bit more savory but tasty, it was my favorite.  The garlic peanut noodles had a thick sauce and was good. The other favorite was the green curry noodles, light and flavorful! The best place to enjoy a yummy meal. We ate outdoors with a view of the Christmas decorations in the city Square and inside there was a vibrant d.j. with muted dance music, excellent vibes! Excellent service, food and ambiance.

The biggest thing that they could improve immediately would be the rice. The rice is almost inedible. How is it crunchy and lumpy at the same time? The texture made me gag multiple times. I believe good sushi doesn't need soy sauce. Well this sushi needed Diet Coke with every bite. The service was nice and enthusiastic about the menu. I couldn't tell her the truth about the food so when we got to the last roll and literally couldn't stomach more I said wed eaten too much and I'd just pay the uneaten roll charge. Some introspection in the kitchen could go a long way for this place mostly starting with the rice but literally none of the food was very good and all of it was overcooked. The mussels were chewy and gross. If you insist on trying this place do a single nigiri a la carte before you commit to the ayce. You'll thank me for saving your stomach and your wallet. To be clear, none of the food made me sick after eating it but it was physically difficult to eat while I was there.

The sushi itself was average & overpriced - but it was still tasty & visually appealing & a good choice for a meal on a super hot day. The server was very enthusiastic & very involved in our meal. We also tried a peach sake which was delicious but once I realized it tasted like peach Burnett's ... It was over. Cozumel Dreaming is located in a nice central location which makes it a handy option for a quick meal. I would probably choose other restaurant options before this one, but if you have a hankering for sushi specifically, then this is definitely the place to go. I wish them the best in their new location!
