OMG! Nothing but good things to say about our time at The Lost Tiki last night. Fun atmosphere, great service, and seriously yummy food. I had the new chicken sandwich, hot honey gochujang of course, and it was crunchy outside, tender inside, and with a super tasty sweet/spicy sauce. Quite frankly, it was craveable. Hubby got an assortment of tacos and the pastor egg roll. He enjoyed it all and we even have leftovers to snack on so I can try them too. We both also enjoyed a couple happy hour margaritas. All told, the bill was 620 pesos before tip, incredibly reasonable IMO. We were there in a group of 11. Some had been before and some not, but all discussed going again. There are many more things on the menu we want to try!

So, found this place on a whim...of course in Yelp. So, let's down to the nitty gritty. The drinks? SO DELICIOUS AND ONKY ABOUT $6 EACH!!!!!!! Then the food, weell, we were able to order the bang bang shrimp before the kitchen had to close due to some reason. But they were VERY delicious. If we get a chance to come back before we leave I WILL be coming back here!

Love this place. So cute inside, the staff is friendly, music is awesome, and the food is great. We had fried rice with the chicken, the chow mein, shrimp appetizer, and the pastor egg roll. Everything was so good and yummy. Can't wait to return. I recommend for great drinks.

The best cocktail bar in Playa Del Carmen and the only place with food that tastes like what you get in the USA. I've been coming to PDC for 15 years now. My only frustration and the reason I don't seem to stay more than a month at a time is that I end up missing the food from back home in San Francisco. If you are like me you will notice that just about everything in Mexico that is "American food" or Italian food typically doesn't quite taste the same. It will be 95% there but often something is different. This is often because dairy products are unavailable is my best guess. So typically when I'm in Mexico I try as much as possible to stick to the local places at eat Mexican food. Don Sirloin for example has excellent tacos, or Pime for high end Mexican specialties like suckling pig. But when you really want a taste of home - this bar is just like going to a Tiki bar in the United States. Be it The Golden Tiki in Las Vegas or Trader Vic's in Emeryville, California. I had the tuna as well as the KFC - Korean Fried Chicken as well as a Mezcal Negroni which was properly served with large format ice. Fantastic.

The place was so perfect. Small and quaint so get there early if you have a large group. They were able to accommodate our group of seven (although it was a stretch). But they had live music and great food. I enjoyed having an option different than the typical Mexican food. Drinks were very good I wish I could have tried more. The waiters were friendly and it was just an overall good experience. Would recommend!

Amazing, delicious, so darn good. Do not hesitate, run, don't walk, you won't be disappointed. Being from Chicago and very spoiled with amazing food, this place was right up there with them. The staff was super attentive, inviting, and brought a great vibe to the atmosphere. We had the El Pastor eggroll, bang bang shrimp, pork belly tacos and General Tao and all of the were outstanding. Drinks are also creative and delicious. Just go and see for yourself!

Not impressed. Service was a 5/10 had to keep asking for the same things over & over. They were tripping about not letting customers in because of Covid rules or something. Bang bang shrimp- Nasty, instead of the shrimp coming coated in sauce like I'm used to, it was drizzled on. Had to ask for extra sauce multiple times in order to get it. The shrimp was pretty bland, the sauce made it easier for me to eat. I noticed that the shrimp is either already cooked bagged shrimp, then they fry it. Or they cook the shrimp first and then fry it. Either way that shrimp is cooked before it gets fried which I didn't like. The Korean Taco- definitely not impressed. Very dry, had nothing special about it. The meat didn't taste too seasoned. Honestly I probably won't come here again.

So after last night's disappointment at another local restaurant, we were so pleased we could get a table at The Tiny Hut. Always delicious and consistent ( like my photography!). We enjoyed yummy delicious General Tso's Chicken and Fried Rice with chicken. Thanks to our girl Karl Ik Sgv

This place was an unexpected find. On my second day in PDC I searched restaurants on Yelp and found this spot. Tiny Tiki Hut is a cool & unique restaurant. Me and my boyfriend ordered a few things off the menu. Coconut Curry Roll Street Tacos (beef & pork) Ramen KFC Fried Rice Everything was actually flavorful & delicious. My favorite of everything was the Pork Belly Tacos, I ordered 2! Great presentation... I'm a sucker for food pics. My camera always eats first. For drinks, I ordered the Zombie which was ok, I'm glad I tried because I was eyeing it lol but I'll try something different next time. We also got a round of shots that came on this cute display. For vegetarians & vegans, they have a lot of options to choose from so I will definitely bring my family when they come and visit. Diego was great, he answered all the questions we had about the menu and he was funny. Wonderful service on a rainy Sunday! -Fork n Fly

Delicious food and sinfully delightful drinks!

Having been in PDC for almost 2 months now, we have eaten at many places and enjoyed some good food here and there. When we walked into The Tiny Tiki Hut , however, we were not expecting the amazingness that we encountered when dining here. Let's get straight to the point... Atmosphere - This was a Saturday evening with a DJ who was spinning old skool 90's hip hop that could be heard from outside. That already set the right tone for the night. Inside, the place was dimly lit giving a chill, cozy island vibe. The decor added to the nicely designed interior. We must say, the canoes used for bar shelving were pretty rad! Rating - 5/5 Service - Staff was accommodating and friendly. Our server was knowledgeable on different spirits and recommended fabulous drinks. We think it really says something when the owner is present and greets you with a warm smile and kind words. Juan definitely has a passion for what he does and it shows! Rating - 5/5 Food - And the most epic part...the FOOD! Hands down the best meal we've had in PDC. We ordered the KFC Cauliflower, Teriyaki Chicken Wings, Bulgogi Tacos, Chicken Fried Rice and Crispy Wok Beef and multiple drinks. Each dish was well prepared. All of the food was seasoned to perfection and savory! No extra sauce necessary! Great selection of cocktails, especially for those who enjoy a smoky mezcal or tequila. Drinks were delicious and paired well with everything we ordered. Suffice it to say, we left very satisfied! Rating -5/5 In conclusion, The Tiny Tiki Hut offered a very enjoyable experience. It is surprisingly not packed (and it should be!) and offers some exquisite and unique dishes if you tire of the local faire. It is also located away from the very busy 5th Avenida which is a nice change. Overall, we highly recommend this place and will return again!

Pork belly taco. Presentation like a 5 star restaurant.

How is this place not packed? Maybe it gets crowded later at night but this was seriously one of the best meals I've eaten. They have a tapas style menu, with tacos, small plates, or ramen and fried rice bowls. I got the pork belly taco and the Bang Bang shrimp. My son ordered the chicken fried rice, and my husband ordered the KFC chicken, tacos, and spring rolls. Ya'll- these tacos are off the chain. My pork belly taco had this soy and smoky with sesame seeds. I would eat these all day, every day and never tire of them. My son are pretty much all his chicken fried rice and my husband raves about his food. The drinks were delicious and were served in tiki style glasses. The vibe is instagram worthy, right down to the bathrooms. An incredible deal for some incredible food.

We live in the Bay Area where Korean BBQ spots are everywhere, and we've tried a lot of them over…read morethe years. We've also eaten at many places in LA, which is known for having some of the best Korean food. We saw this place had pretty solid reviews, especially on Google, and even saw comments from people claiming they were Korean and from LA saying this place rivaled KBBQ spots there. Because of that, we came in with really high expectations. Unfortunately, we left disappointed. The restaurant is located upstairs, and the elevator ride alone almost made us turn around. It was extremely shaky and honestly felt unsafe at times. There were moments we thought it might actually drop. I would definitely recommend taking the stairs instead. We ordered the mixed combo with beef, chicken, and pork, along with soybean soup and steamed egg. The banchan selection was limited and overall the flavors were pretty underwhelming. The biggest issue though was the meat quality. Most of the meats were chewy, including the pork belly, which should have been much more tender because of the fat content. One thing we've noticed in Mexico compared to the US is that the meat quality in general often isn't quite the same, and this place really highlighted that for us. Honestly, Gen BBQ back in California is much better than this spot. I understand some people love this place because they cook over charcoal, but the cooking process took forever. Each meat took a long time to cook, and they had to replace the coals multiple times during the meal. The one thing that really stood out in a positive way was the steamed egg. It was honestly one of the best steamed eggs we've had. Super fluffy, airy, and cooked perfectly. If you're someone who really loves Korean food or Korean BBQ, I personally wouldn't recommend going out of your way for this place. There are much better options out there worth spending your money on.

This place did not disappoint! I'm from San Diego and we have a lot of authentic ramen, but this place def did a great job to keep the authenticity. Not to mention the value for all the food we got! Worth it compared to the prices we get back at home. They also decorated it really cute, but it was a bit hard to find because the sign is small. But just look for ROOSTER cafe because it's to the right of it. For food we ordered shrimp Gyozas, shumai, chicken karagge, and tempura shrimp baos. My fav was the gyoza hands down, shumai next and then the baos. I thought the chicken karage were like the Japanese style ones but they're actually just wings! Still tasty though. We also ordered the vegetarian ramen and half order size were perfect for us because we also had the appetizers. I'm sure the other ramens would be amazing but I don't eat pork so it was a great veg option for me. We will definitely be back to try some other dishes, the yakisoba looked delicious!

When our waiter finally out to our table, she gave us a bar code to scan for the menu. Due to the pandemic, this is much more hygienic practice to provide contactless menus. However, my cell phone service was super slow, so I had to ask for the wifi password. In fact, they probably should just write the wifi password with the bar code as not everyone has great cellular phone service in the area. The pictures in the menu looked great so I ordered the beef ramen. My friend ordered the seafood ramen. When my beef ramen arrived, I suddenly realized why the ramen was so inexpensive. The portion of the ramen was really tiny. It also was oversaturated with miso flavoring which wasn't ideal. The beef ramen was so so, but not really filling. My friend's pan fried seafood udon looked so much better and much more filling too. My advice is not to get anything that is soup based. The service was slow as many people mentioned in their reviews, but at least they accept credit cards.

Hidden Garden was easily one of my favorite restaurants at Live Aqua and one of the few places we…read moreended up visiting twice during our stay. There's usually a wait to get in, which says a lot considering most of the other restaurants didn't have much of one. We waited about 30 minutes the first night and 15 the second, and after eating here, I can see why it's one of the more popular spots on the property. We started with several appetizers. The samosas were small but really good. The gyoza was fine, just your standard gyoza. The chicken satay was another highlight, with a really flavorful peanut sauce. The dumpling soup was okay and a little different than expected since it included noodles. For entrees, the mixed fried rice was excellent. It had some kind of unique seasoning that I couldn't quite identify, but it worked. The rice had great texture, and they definitely didn't skimp on the shrimp and chicken. The pad thai was pretty good too, although it leaned much sweeter than I expected. It almost reminded me of a really good upscale microwavable pad thai, with more sweet sauce than spice. The THAO was another standout. It's kind of their version of orange chicken, and it was really good. My only complaint is that the portion size felt a little small, so I'd recommend ordering something alongside it. The desserts were surprisingly great across the board. We tried almost all of them except the mango and turmeric dessert. My favorites were the carrot cake and the leche coconut dessert. Both were excellent. They also have a nice selection of signature cocktails. The Sakarita, a sake margarita, was okay. The Geisha was good if you enjoy the smoky flavor of mezcal. My girlfriend really liked the Leche Martini, and my favorite was the Buddha, which felt like their take on an Old Fashioned. Service was consistently good. What really stood out was that when we returned two nights later, our server immediately recognized us, welcomed us back, and genuinely asked how we had enjoyed our first visit. It felt sincere and not scripted, which was a nice touch. The only downside is that the restaurant is entirely outdoors. They do have fans, but on really humid nights it can be rough. The second time we visited, the humidity was intense, and even sitting directly in front of a fan I felt like I was melting. That's more of a weather issue than a restaurant issue, though. Overall, this was one of the best meals we had at the resort. Great food, good drinks, friendly service, and a menu that had several items worth ordering again. If you're only trying a few restaurants at Live Aqua, this should absolutely be one of them.

Came to Hidden Garden for one of our dinner for a special birthday celebration of my friend. The food was great and the ambiance was great. The service from our server was great. It was such a nice special touch for the chef to come out and ask how everything was, and the server brought out a birthday dessert for my friend. 5 stars on all of that. So why 2-stars then? The hostess of this place that evening was rude and out of place. We were all dressed VERY NICE in all black, however, one of the guy in our group's outfit was sleeveless. He was wearing a very nice leather sleeveless vest. Mind you, it wasn't a tank top, it wasn't swim wear, it wasn't athletic wear. It was an expensive leather vest, very fashionable. Nicer than all of the old men wearing shorts and Hawaiian shirts or basic polo shirts. The hostess didn't allow him in until he changed to something that had sleeves. Friend changed and was allowed in. Once inside, he put the vest back on for photos since everyone in our group coordinated to be wearing black fashionably. On our way out of the restaurant, the hostess had the nerve to stop us and say something about it. Lesson here is, do better. We understand that there's dresscode, but know what should be acceptable or not. If it was a tank top, swim wear, or athletic wear, we'd definitely understand. But it was not, it was upscale and fashionable, just without the sleeve. Plus, women are allowed to be sleeveless but not men? What year do you live in? Train your hostess better.
