Had great experiences at yum yum last week while in playa... during my 5 nights there I went 3 times! lol To be fair my hostel was literally 2 minutes away but... this place is great. I'm going to give them 5 stars mostly because of the food... I had better, more attentive service at other places during my stay but the food here is unreal. Make sure you get the sushi and the potsticker. Wish I had a pic of the potstickers but I do of the sushi! I highly recommend this restaurant and would definitely come back! See below. read more

Food: We ordered yellow chicken curry, tofu pad Thai and papaya salad. Our server brought over yucca chips with a dip on the house. All the dishes were absolutely delicious! The papaya was the perfect balance of lime and the added basil along with other veggies gave it a wonderful freshness and delightful taste in our mouths. The pad Thai was perfection as well. We asked for the curry to be extra spicy and they delivered. We cleared out our plates completely. The Thai food here is wonderful and I highly recommend you stop by. Prices are American but the food is worth it. Service: All the servers were friendly and very helpful. They all helped each other out, unlike some places that leave the section to the assigned server. The service provided was wonderful. They were all very attentive. Ambiance: This establishment is decorated so cute and gives you "high end" vibes. You can elect to eat inside or outside while you observe people walking by. We made reservations, but got there significantly early because, quite frankly, we were starving. The host graciously sat us. We had lots of questions and the servers were so patient and knowledgeable. We were beyond satisfied with everything we ordered. The Thai iced tea: perfect. not too sweet. The Thai sticky wings: also perfect. The Pad See Ew: perfect. The Pad Kaprao: perfect. These were the best prepared shrimp that we had all trip. I still salivate thinking about this meal. Tell me why we were craving Asian food in Mexico, of all places. Well anyways we looked at this menu and their sister menu one door down and decided we wanted this food. My food came out bland and my friend's thai noodle was too salty so we mixed our noodles together and i got a little more sauce and her noodles got a little more diluted to enjoy. We were sat outdoors along the street which was nice if you like dining in the middle of the street of a bustling city. I don't mind it, makes me feel like a city gal. My other friend got the fried fish and we would say that was the best, but mediocre for Thai food. I got the mango sticky rice to go and enjoyed that! Our server was attentive and allowed us to have the space to ourselves but kept our water and needs fulfilled. I am sure there are other better Thai restaurants. read more

This review is for the Yum Yum on 10th and 30th. They did such a good job I wanted to make sure they got the credit. I did a review on TripAdvisor as well. The manager was very nice. I want to take this place home with me. We went here for Christmas Eve. The staff was very friendly and the restaurant is beautiful inside. The gave great recommendations. Everytime I saw food come out I was so excited because each plate was impressive. We had the pineapple fried rice, salmon (amazing), shrimp pad thai (full of flavor), and spring rolls. I'm definitely returning before I leave Playa but please support this place it's worth it. And not expensive. Very reasonable. read more

You want flavour while on holiday? Do you want a notorious chef cooking your food while having two other completely different cuisines in the city? Come to Yum Yum where you'll find Thai flavour in the middle of the Caribbean. The atmosphere is very inviting. Love the aesthetic of the restaurant. There's an exterior and interior seating area. The outside is pleasant for a cool late sunset, be warned because that mosquitos will come so put on some of the mosquito repellent. The ambiance seems very lovely and a bit loads but necessary over the top loud. Now for the food. It's difficult to find these flavour while going out in holiday and trying local food and I feel that Yum Yum does a great job standing out of that crowd of what is common nearby. Everything was so delicious. The Pad citrus and savour flavour is there. The curry was a little watered does but the flavour is there. My favourite was the starter platter with a little bit of everything from the starter list. I love variety so this was perfect. Presentation is a 10/10. Looks so beautiful and well put together I don't even want to eat it. The service really great the majority of the time. Very welcoming and professional. Many vegetarian options. read more

I've been here twice, one which was memorable and the other which wasn't memorable. Two different locations as well. I ordered the same thing the Pad See Ew. The first time was fantastic and beyond expectations in everything the flavor the taste. The second time it was probably one of the worst noodles I have had in awhile. I really had high hopes for this place. My kids and I visited a few months ago. We placed our orders and sat for a very long time. My kids were so hungry, I had to ask if they could bring some appetizers. After our appetizers, we sat and waited for our meals. Which never came out. After waiting for an hour, I asked them to cancel our main dishes (noodles, fried rice) You would think that these 2 popular dishes wouldn't take over an hour to make. I mean we sat there watching people come in after us, getting served, and finishing their foods. I was really disappointed in their service. AND it was NOT a busy night. Best Indian and Thai food in PDC! Karen is an amazing hostess. She took such good care of us and suggested dishes we would like based on our preferences. All our food was vegetarian. We ordered Tom Yum soup, Garlic Naan, Dal Makhani and Paneer Angara. Everything was delicious! We requested Tom Yum to be spicy and they were happy to accommodate our request. The Dal Makhani and Paneer Angara were so flavorful and authentic. They both came with rice and the Paneer came with salad and raita as well. The Garlic Naan was very soft and flavorful. The place also has a very nice vibe and different from the touristy places on Quinta Avenida. read more

The server at this restaurant was amazingly attentive & kind. The food sounded good on the menu but was a bit bland. The Lobster & Shrimp Pad Thai had a cool presentation with the whole lobster tail and shell on top of the noodles. There's outdoor seating and the servers do wear masks. We have had some challenges finding good Asian food since we moved here and were actually in the area to try another Thai restaurant that turned out to be closed that day. Since I was already in the mood for Thai, we decided to try Yum Yum. The restaurant is located in a hotel and is very chic looking. The staff were personable and spoke English. The menu is a mix of Thai and Indian food, but we only had the Thai. Overall, I was quite impressed with the quality and flavor of the food. I still want to try the other restaurant, but am happy to have found some good Thai and plan to try the Indian at some point also. read more

Yum? yuck! This was on the top of our list of restaurants! We arrived for lunch and was told the kitchen was closed! Strike 1! The next evening it was packed with a 30 minute wait and we decided to look at other spots, strike 2! We returned and stood at the menu kiosk and a server said they would get a table for us. Then a older American and his family waltz into the restaurant, ignoring the line behind us and gets seated. What!??? Strike 3! We let the second server know, he excused the behavior and said he had a table for us. We ordered then waited and waited. . . .  We had drinks and were so hungry we felt we had to keep waiting for our food. The atmosphere was focused on dark sophistication but the extreme heat and lack of oxygen/air detracted from it. Stuffy was more like it. The food finally arrived and it was a joke. Strikes again!We all love thai but this was ridiculous.  Pad thai was nothing close to the flavor, extremely savory. The pad see ew was unrecognizable little flavor, I had forgotten what we had ordered since it was so unfamiliar.  The other disappointment was the panang- so bland. The two servings of rice were less that 1 cup total. Prices were too high for this amount/lack of flavor. Were we slighted and snubbed for speaking up with bad service and bad food? Or is this a thai place trying to be pretentious? Yum? Yuck!!!! read more

It was my first time in Playa Del Carmen, with all the popular restaurants in downtown it gets really hard to pick. Walking around, we stumbled upon a beautiful restaurant with amazing decor and design and welcomed by really nice employees. We went twice, two nights in a row as this is an asian/indian fusion. First night we did asian and got the Pad Thai, Spring Rolls, Fried Tofu, Shrimp and Beef with Rice. Second night we had indian, she had the vegetable korma and I had the tikka masala with a side of garlic naan. I know this might sound odd, but every single plate served at this restaurant was 10/10 from the appetizers, to entrees, sides and even the peanut sauce on the side. 10/10 design 10/10 food 10/10 service 10/10 would come here again read more

For Playa Del Carmen, this was decent Thai food. It is hard to find good Asian food in this town. It tastes good, but never quite there. I stopped by because a friend said I should check it out. I got some of my favorites togo. I feel like if you order the same things at every Thai place, you can truly compare the quality of the food. So my go-to dishes are always the crispy spring rolls and pad see ew. Sometimes I get larb salad too. This time I did not. The spring rolls were decent. Crispy outside, and typical veggies inside. Again, they were just lacking that authentic flavor. When I opened the box of noodles, I saw snow pea pods. This threw me off as I have never seen this in Pad See Ew. I could even smell them immediately. It was lacking in Chinese broccoli, which is one of my favorite parts. And it was just on the bland side. Not a bad place for PDC; however, I will have to wait to hit the US or Thailand again for really good Thai food. read more

Our saving grace! Not going to lie it's hard finding food if you don't know the language and have a special diet. One thing we are very familiar with is Teriyaki salmon.....can't go wrong with that right! This place did not disappoint. The salmon was cooked perfectly and very tasty.
