Lots of locals so that was a good sign. Cold beer and delicious enchiladas. Friendly service.

The restaurant seating does give mall food court vibes, but that's ok i wasn't looking for anything fancy. All the wait staff and servers were very friendly and attentive at all times. Food does not take long at all to come out. Overall the food was disappointing. The only taco that was decent and had some flavor was the chicken taco(pechuga). Quite literally everything else was flavorless. The sauces on the side were the saving grace for every item of food I ordered. The ribeye taco was soaked in grease, which made eating it messy. The chuleta taco had no flavor and i would even say tasted bad. I do not recommend it. The food is definitely overpriced, especially considering the area and the amount of taco vendors that sell better tacos. Now what made this experience terrible was my waiter. I ask for the check and the total was $1139. I told him i was paying cash and i put down $1150 cash. He then taps at the receipt saying there's a mandatory tip and service fee. So he added on $100 to the bill right there on the spot. I analyze the receipt he handed to me and none of this is reflected on the receipt. I refused to argue so i put down the extra $100 and asked for the change. Tipping isn't mandatory especially for a table of 2. So i feel the waiter just made this up. I cannot in good conscience recommend this place to anyone. STAY AWAY and save some money. Theres better tasting food at way better prices in the area.

The patio was very inviting, so even though it was a bit chilly we sat outside. Our waiter was great, he was also busy, but we got our orders in and received in a reasonable amount of time. The cocktails were off the charts. Honestly can't remember what they were, we got two with Mayan honey and spices, and they were phenomenal. So fruity and spicy and served in an aesthetically pleasing way. One was the cocktail of the month, Aperol and mezcal, why not? Tasted like a, "fruity fireplace," according to our friend to which we wholeheartedly agreed. They gave us each an elote amuse bouche which was a tasty surprise and got us ready for more tastiness. Had a variety of tacos that we all enjoyed immensely. Cauliflower-both types were equally good. Birria queso was incredibly rich and just saturated with flavor-in the best way possible. Had esquites with blue corn and ham croquettes that we thoroughly enjoyed, especially the side salsas. Definitely had to do some negotiating when divvying them up since all of use could have eaten more. This place is not inexpensive, you will drop some money here, especially since you'll want to keep trying cocktails and tacos, but it's worth it. Name on the door was Maiz y Tinto, so that confused me for a bit.

The setup is very intimate - communal outdoor seating with maybe less than 10 tables total, and you can actually look into the kitchen and watch the chefs work. It has a really cool, almost immersive energy to it. What makes the concept interesting is that there's no menu. It's kind of like an omakase-style flow where dishes are brought out in rounds, and depending on when you arrive, you may or may not get to experience earlier dishes. After each round, the staff checks in with you to see if you'd like to continue or close out. There was about a 2-hour wait, but honestly that gave me time to explore the city and come back, which wasn't too bad. Going in, I had really high expectations, and while the food itself is undeniably high quality and beautifully executed, I did leave a bit underwhelmed overall. A lot of the dishes leaned very veggie and carb forward, which I'm not sure if that's just the nature of the menu or because I came later in the evening and missed some earlier rounds. If I were vegetarian, I think I'd probably rate this an easy 5 stars. But personally, I was hoping for a bit more protein throughout the experience, and that balance just wasn't really there for me. Still a very creative and well-executed concept, just not fully aligned with what I was expecting.
