This is one of my favorite cafes in Barcelona!! This is supposed to be one of the oldest cafes in Barri Gotic and you can feel the history the moment you step in. You feel like you were transported back in time! The decor is the most charming part of this place. I usually come here for my cafe con leche and xocolata amb xurros (2.90 euros), they are made just the way I like!!!! Rico rico!!! Check it out when you are in Barcelona! p.s. - they are closed on Sundays. The place is tiny so not recommended for a big group.

This was one of the first places we stopped to eat at while we were in Barcelona. We had a beer and chorizo bocadillo. It was absolutely delicious! The bread was perfect, nice crunch on the outside and soft inside. The chorizo was nothing like we've had here in the USA, full of flavor and the right amount to hold us over until our next stop. We followed our meal and drinks up with some coffee, small but powerful! I believe we paid less than ten euros for everything. It's a small place, been there for decades and exactly what we were looking for. We were trying to avoid the tourist places and stick to the local authentic spots.

2 bocadillos de chorizo and 2 beers.

Can't beat 2 delicious bocadillo's (Spanish panini type sandwich), two beers, and a nice coffee for less than 10 euros! We had the Spanish chorizo bocadillo. We're used to the Mexican chorizo, this was more like a chorizo flavored pepperoni or something. Delicious!

Currently my favorite Tapas bar anywhere. Simple, small, no menus and no english tourist signage. Great ambiance and near everything. Avoid the tourist junk - come to this restaurant. Extremely friendly staff. However this is not the place to go of you expect english, menus and a rushed experience. Cheap with gorgeous foods and great coffee. I have eaten here many times over the past few months and can't reconcile a review saying it was a tourist trap. I can't help but wonder if somewhere else was being refered to. It's full of locals and doesn't really cater to the tourist market unlike almost everything in the area. Idyllic.

Clams in tomato wine sauce (very good with bread) and sautéed spinach with pine nuts. Both very tasty

Good place to stop by for a drink and small plate snacks. Man behind the bar was gracious with service...ask for the specials and try the sautéed spinach if available, was very good with the heavier sauced items.

Cafe latte with cacao and a croissant, yum!

Ducked in here to warm up and get out of the rain. Coffee latte with cacao was delicious! I will be stopping here again before the end of our trip. Met 2 of the 3 generations of owners, super nice, inviting and friendly. Thank you for making our first stop in Barcelona an unforgettable one!

Very small place with lots of history the family that runs the place is great very warm people and if you come more than once they start treating you like their family the food is very good there is not a real menu pretty much what you see is what you get and if you want anything special just ask for it and then we'll make it happen highly recommended place in Barcelona I will definitely go back again

    RIP OFF!

Quick service and very modestly priced considering the location and the cafe's historic atmosphere. It's tiny but perfectly formed.

Tourist trap. The food is not bad but not worth it for the price. Bacalao was 14 euro, but I only found out after the fact. Avoid.

After a dozen attempts to dial in the pour the staff was honest and upfront about the selection that it couldn't be made to their standards. Wow, love this! Instead of giving me my drink and rushing me out the door, it was all about the quality. Being new to espresso making at home I fully understand the 1:2 ratio in a specific amount of time for making espresso. I took their advice and went with another bean selection. My iced cafe latte was for take away and I thoroughly enjoyed the flavors. One thing to note for any Americans that expect sweetener, there is none here. I wasn't bothered by this but I could see many others might be. Looking back I wish I had bought some beans to bring back home to Cali.

Service was fast - order at the middle kiosk and wait for your drink. They have a few iced drinks available, and you can choose which 3-4 beans to make the drink with. We got the iced latte along with the shakerato. The shakerato had no milk, so you can definitely taste the beans/coffee flavor. As for the iced latte, it was definitely less better and slightly more sweet and creamy due to the milk. You still tasted a bit of the flavor of the coffee.

Caravelle is quaint and modern, and the service is definitely on the more lax side. Note: smaller parties may be seated at the communal table, and this place stays busy! Be prepared for a bit of a wait. I started with a café con leche, and although I'm not usually a sweets-for-breakfast kinda person, the croffle looked too enticing online to pass up. Being a huge egg aficionado, I also ordered a side of eggs à la carte. My coffee arrived quickly, but after waiting 30 minutes, I noticed that guests who had arrived after me were already enjoying their meals... When I checked in with the waiter, it turned out my order hadn't gone through at all. I had to reorder, and while waiting, I asked for another café con leche since I was long overdue for a refill. Unfortunately, that second coffee never came--but on the bright side, my meal eventually did. The croffle was freaking divine. Crispy/flakey on the outside, and soft inside. The cream was sweet, but not overpowering, and the tart of the berries balanced out the meal. As I was getting ready to check out, the waiter asked if I had ever received my second café con leche. Embarrassed for them, I admitted that I hadn't... Realizing they'd made ANOTHER mistake, he apologized profusely and quickly asked the barista to make me one to go. To compensate for my time and patience, he generously comped my entire meal, leaving me to pay only for the initial coffee (2.50 euros). Despite the service hiccups, the food was incredible--truly one of my favorite breakfasts in Spain.
