Stay far away from this company. First, they messed up the delivery of my cross-country move by delivering my belongings piecemeal. Next, they did $5,000 of damage to artwork and thousands of damage to my flooring. Furthermore, their idea of unpacking (which I paid extra for) entailed their workers not looking at the room where the box was supposed to go and simply turning it upside down wherever they pleased -- including tons of liquids that stained my bedroom carpet and exacerbated an ant situation that the company brought in off its truck. Great experience! They helped move me 2000 miles across the country. Each worker I interacted with, on the phone and in-person, was professional and good-natured. They were very good about contacting me about updates or things that need to be done. Their process of packing, loading, and unloading was very efficient. You essentially don't have to do any packing. But I did organize my things into plastic containers and trash bags to make it easier All packing, packing materials (boxes, tape, packing paper, etc.), and labeling of the boxes are provided by the company. For my particular move, the company estimated that my things will arrive within 2 weeks. Actual arrival was 1.5 weeks: 2-3 days after I moved in. You can coordinate the pack/load dates with move date accordingly. When unloading, they gave me a check list and would call out the number of the labelled box so that I can check it off. This reassured me that none of my things were missing. Very satisfied with everything. I would definitely recommend to everyone. read more

Did not show up in masks (I don't really care one way or the other but other people do). The one guy smoked a couple of times during the move and left a cigarette butt on the drive way of the house I just moved into. Damaged two items and took there time moving things, even took a stop at Kwix Trip for a break then said the time went over 1 hour and 45 minutes. Charged us 300 dollars more then the estimate, did not know we have to pay for the breaks they take, and then when they damaged two items did not even offer to give a discount for the damages after I showed him what was damaged. Would not use again nor suggest anyone else to use them. read more

Be warned: if you are moving to Rochester, make sure to see reviews of the United moving company in your local area. I chose Metcalf due to the high reviews on several websites. Overall, my experience with the Rochester office was excellent. Greg E. was especially helpful. That being said, the local United moving company from my previous local did a terrible job, as several goods were damaged in transit, and were a week late (18 days after packing). Just make sure to do your research. If you are moving out of Rochester, I would highly recommend Metcalf. The same can't be said about their parent company, United. read more

I would not use these movers ever again unless you want your stuff to go MISSING! They do not secure your property and let your property get stolen by the company. I moved out of state and had numerous items missing that were not properly accounted for. This is unacceptable to take people's things. DO NOT USE THEM! They also made me pay for the full estimate rather than adjusting for going under the estimate which is stupid. They give you no timeline on when a refund will be processed. read more

I used Metcalf for a move from 1200 miles away. They packaged all of my items well and nothing arrived damaged except for my foam roller, which ended up being compressed with mild indentations from my other items due to the way it was boxed up. We couldn't be more disappointed. I've moved across the ocean and across the states so this is not my first experience. Not only was our delivery late (weeks beyond the quote), but they had to deliver in two separate shipments because they apparently did not estimate correctly and did not have enough room on the original truck as plan. As a result, our items were sent by courier truck to the local warehouse here. Our furniture was damaged beyond repair - parts to our son's bed, lost; our bed frame, broken in HALF; our desk, drawer completely ripped off. This isn't damage but NEGLIEGENCE. I'm not complaining over some dings and scratches. This is full on damage which was an additional cost on top of the amount we had to spend to purchase items to use while our shipment was delayed for weeks. Additionally, the weight estimate they provided was 1,000 pounds SHORT! How can you be that off? More money we had to spend....To make matters worse, we have tried for months to file a claim. The site never works so we have placed calls and left messages with no response. We have finally given up. The amount this move cost us has been a significant financial burden. This company is truly terrible, unprofessional and they clearly have no regard to the impact they can have on a family. Save yourself the heartache and don't use them or Mayflower which they are contracted with. read more

Rude, rude, rude! I called to inquire about cost and availability for moving service. The lady who answered the phone had a short and condescending tone. I asked about availability and they were busy so i asked about the following weekend ( I called 2guys and a truck prior and they were open) and she huffs that it is Labor Day weekend. I asked about how they charge for their service and she snaps that she doesn't even know where I am moving. I explain and she said that it is a local move... And that is.... Still not sure!
