I wanted something difficult. I needed accountability. And I longed for strength. Being one month in, I'm so grateful for this space. All of the trainers are absolutely wonderful. They accept my novice position within the CrossFit community, while not settling for me to give up. They want me to do hard things for myself, and not for the workout, and I know this due to the way they treat me. They've paid close attention to me from an encouragement, teaching and commitment standpoint without making me feel incapable and incompetent. For the first time in my nearly four decades on the planet, I'm craving my next day at the gym after leaving yet another strenuous one. We selected this day for my first time (read: I am super out-of-shape, do not go to the gym, etc.) because it was low on cardio, focused on different stations of strength-based work, and easy to be modified. For example, if you move to a station where you are to lift weights, you could select 10 pound weights or 30 (or whatever) that is best suited for your needs. I wasn't nervous about coming because I've been to gyms of similar formats before. I was weary of embarrassing my friend in front of her other friends and coaches due to my lack of physical ability, but she assured me that no one would be judgmental and everyone would be encouraging. She was exactly right. Even better, no one seemed to give a rat's ass about what I was doing. And I mean that in a positive way. How nice to be able to work out and not feel like anyone is looking at you. That said, the coaches did keep an eye on me, to make sure I was doing the correct format or to offer me tips and modifications when it was obvious I needed it. I really enjoyed training at F45 this week, and I wish I lived in town so I could go back more often. I might want to check with the facility to see if they offer packages where you can purchase like a 10-class pass or something, because then I could join my friend when I visit from out of town or am home for holidays. I highly encourage anyone in Mount Pleasant or who lives in the area of an F45 to try out a class. You will not regret it!

TRAMP(oline) builds your quads, supporting muscles around ankles, butt, etc to improve your cardio, stability, and agility for the one-legged jumps. STEP is always excellent for building leg muscles and improving cardio. DANCE is a way to improve your cardio and agility all while having fun learning dance routines. The staff is AMAZING! After relocating to Johns Island, I needed a new place to work out. This was the first, and last gym that I toured. It's immediately apparent after walking in that cleanliness and friendliness are two of the top priorities of this facility. The equipment is incredibly varied and you should be able to find everything you need for a good workout. When you enter there is a small table and sitting area to the left where you can sign up for a membership or chill out. The gym offers a wide open space with really good distancing in between machines so it never feels too crowded. The back of the gym has a small area with cubbies where you can leave your bags, personal items, and anything you don't want to carry around with you. The entire facility is accessed through a key fob and their are security cameras scattered throughout the building. You really don't get the feeling that anyone is going to steal anything because of the community vibe of the gym. There are bathrooms and showers on site for gym members, and a small refrigerator with drinks that uses the honor system for payment. WIFI is available and the connection has been great from all corners of the gym. Most notably, the staff and trainers always have positive attitudes and say hello when you walk in. A special shout out to Mackenzie for always helping out members when it's needed and for always having an infectious smile that makes you feel welcome.
