Over the past year or so I have noticed that there are more fare inspectors, outfitted in neon yellow shirts, however these hasn't proven to be effective in reducing the homeless presence. The majority about 90% have to use the MetroRail en route to the Medical Center. This means that a large portion of Houston's Workforce is at risk every day due to inadequate transportation options. We want Metro to have more Park-n-Rides go directly into the Medical Center without having to transfer to the MetroRail, just like the Woodlands, Conroe, and Katy does. This will ensure safer travels for commuters. MetroRail also DOES NOT take action addressing safety ANY CONCERNS from it's PAYING passengers! Several people including myself have addressed NUMEROUS times incidents such as harassment, verbal assult, physicial assult, fighting, theft, stalking, threats of violence, transients sleeping on trains, panhandling, etc without any protection or care or concern from Metro Police. Passenger's complain to the drivers of the train and they ignore us, they really don't care. The paying customers are the ones that constantly get harrassed going to and form work, it has become a nightmare. Metro harass paying customers while transients ride free all day long and keep constant madness! The MetroRail is dirty, nasty, and always has foul orders of urine and feces smell. On any given day you will see transients eating, sleeping, drinking, or smoking weed on the train, and do you think they get put off?? NO! Everyone turns a blind eye! The cost is minimal ($1.25 for unlimited rides for 3 hours), and you can buy tickets right on your smart phone. On a Saturday afternoon, the red line trains were running every 15 minutes or so. Also something to notice: there are different platforms for trains going south vs trains going north, so need to pay attention to be on the right platform (they are not connected). In our case, we needed to go South so the southern most platform was the right one to be on.

There's multiple departures everyday and it's easy to book a ticket through their website. Upgrades are available to select your seat or pay to have the whole row to yourself. Honestly I wouldn't waste your money on this. Both of my trips were only about half full so it was easy to spread out. Departures were both on time but both arrived a little past the expected arrival time so take that into consideration when trying to plan your day. The bus is clean, has charging outlets at very seat and there's a restroom on board. They are also able to accommodate wheelchairs as there is a lift at the back of the bus. My one complaint is the ride from Houston to Austin had a significant amount of vibrating for the entire ride. Think - that feeling when you first get a flat tire. It was pretty hard to try to nap. Otherwise, no complaints. I would do this again.

And this service is like ride share app, where they will pick you at the door and drop you off at the door. If you have a wheeler or in wheeler, no problems, you will get you in the vehicle safely and secure you safely. You have to qualify for the service and you have to go through an interview at the main building in downtown. I really appreciation the Metro Lift as it let me be independent on going to places in Houston safely and not relying on family or friends all the time. The downtown main building is also the Downtown Transit Center. You can also buy your Metro Lift paper ticket here and get a new ID here. Also getting my lost item back was painless and easy.

I know some would say I would be better off riding the Metrosexual Transit Authority, but I felt comfortable on this bus service too. Not literally comfortable though, because holy lack of suspension, batman. I've had a few bad experiences since the first time I thought Houston buses deserve a 5 star rating, but I'm still very grateful for them every time my car isn't working. Like I said before: Still one of the better bus services in the country. I've ridden NYC, LA, DC, Boston, Miami, and a ton more I can't even think of, and Houston is up there with my favourites. It's not as cheap as I think it should be, but then most bus services in major cities aren't. One of the best features of the Houston Metro is the awesome train that runs from the University area to downtown and if they could expand that to other parts of the city it'd be even better. Also Houston could use a really extensive subway system to ease the loads on its overstuffed highways. Most of the drivers are super friendly (and hit on my friend a lot, but then her pink hair is part of it), most of the buses are on time, and they send text updates to tell you when the bus is going to be along. The bus was clean, there was almost nobody on it and it was fast. Houston, I recommend you start using this before the funding dries up and it goes away. If you work downtown, use it to go to lunch somewhere different. The buses come very quickly (every 6-7 minutes) and it's free!

I know I'm on the fucking 82, you don't have to repeat it 30 million times. Between that, the rattling, windows and the loud mouth thugs sitting in back, the noise is unbearable. The schedules are always fucked up and sometimes you'll wait 30 minutes for a supposed 10 min interval bus followed by 3 or 4 busses minutes apart. For the most part this bus gets you were you need to go but if time allows take the 25 instead.
