It depends on who you ask for help. I came into this location after two phone mishaps. The first time was in November 2017, my son had dropped my phone into water (the toilet) and I was coming in to see the options for phone replacement, since I had the "Metro Back up" insurance. The customer service from the lady that helped me great, and she was really helpful with explaining how things work even though they could not help me in the store, because I was outside of the warranty period. She provided a pamphlet, and explained how I could go online to order the replacement through the third party insurance, and the phone would be shipped to me overnight. I followed her instructions, and everything went smoothly. This weekend I came back to Metro PCS with my dad who has dreads to come into the 21st century and use an Android or IPhone. His existing flip phone was defective because of also being exposed to water (again the toilet). We were trying to see options for replacing the phone because the texting pad does not work well. We brought in old working flip phones so that we could transfer the service from the damaged phone to one of the alternatives, but Metro PCS could not transfer the service from his phone to another older phone, because the flip phones were outdated. The first lady that attempted to help made it seem as though he would have to purchase a new phone. My dad did not want to do that because I had just bought him the replacement about 3 months ago. Another guy came over and asked more probing questions, and ended up helping us find a less expensive solution. Because my dad had had the phone for less than a year, we could replace the phone the same day with an in stock phone (same model) for $30 or have the same model ordered and shipped to the store for $15. Both options were better than purchasing a new phone because even though the flip phones are only $29 the service fees would have made the new transaction cost about $60, because a new phone purchase is considered an "upgrade" (even if it is a flip phone). We did not have to pay the $15 until the new one arrives and my dad was able to keep his existing phone and phone number. The replacement phone will be here in 3-5 days, and my dad will be able to text again.
