When returning my rental on 4/23/22, I immediately notified the dock master Tom Clark at the…read moreStafford Marina that I seem to have struck a log causing possible damage to the propeller, I then raised the Mercury Outboard motor to show him and he stated, don't worry it's just the propeller that was damaged and "it's a quick fix" I'll replace it and put back into service no problem and that was it. The three days later I receive a call from Brenden Dean calling me to state that they discovered damage to the boat that I rented, that's when I became alarmed and upset by this statement and replied, how did you discovered something that I already disclosed to the dock master in Stafford? Like if I was not truthful in disclosing this right after returning my rental. At that moment he changed his demeanor and tone, "oh okay I may have of misunderstood, but anyway it occurred damage to the prop and the lower unit, I was totally surprise to hear about anything about the lower unit, since this was the first time I heard of this, he went on to say that he will be in touch with me at a later date about the charges and will also provide a report along with some photos. Two weeks later Brenden Dean called me to inform me the cost of replacing both parts and labor was estimated over $6000. (Propeller with labor was $300, Skeg part is $5800+labor). But because this is my first major incident this year, my insurance deductible will only be $2500, Again I was totally caught off guard with what he stated, I requested when I be provided with the report and photos as promised, I also wanted to hold off on paying the $2,500 charge till I get a chance to review the report and photos, he stated no problem. The following week a $2,500 amount was charged to my credit card, but still no report of the damaged (just the text in the email) and no photos. I immediately called Freedom Boat Club of Woodbridge, VA, spoke to the office manager (Arlene Scott), explained to her the reason for my call and my request, she replied that someone will get back to me. The next day I received a call from Nancy Dean, the Owner/Director of Accounting and apparently there was a total disconnect with my request, from the office manager, to Nancy, but I again requested the report of the incident and photos of the damages. The next day I only received another email explaining the damage but never received an actual damage report describing the damage and the photos. Once I saw the first photo, I recognized it with the damage to the propeller that occurred that day, but not photo's 2 & 3, I never saw that damage to the skeg torn and shaved off like that, the last time I saw the outboard, it had the skeg fully intact and to the motor. After two local reputable Marina mechanics from two separate shops in Woodbridge reviewed the photos, they both confirmed that the motors in each of the photos are clearly not the same motors, the damage to the skeg seems to been caused by being towed and the skeg scraping on a concert road or blacktop for it to sustain that type of damage, sand or a rock in the water will not ever cause such a straight scrap like that, a bent should of resulted instead, again not a clean straight shave scrape like in those photos. I would like corporate to investigate & monitor such criminal activity from their franchises so they can stop victimizing their members through fraud and deception practices for additional profit. I am requesting a full refund of all the money paid to & collected by Freedom Boat Club of Woodbridge VA to be returned as this was not the reason I became member of the club, I joined to become a Long-Life member, not a victim of a crime.

Came here with a group for kayaking. Only they ran out of kayaks before noon. So some of us had to…read morerent standup paddle boards instead. There is a slightly more expensive pricing for folks not residing in Fairfax, Loudon, Alexandria, or Arlington counties. But they don't really verify...so as long as you put down an address within those counties on your waiver, then you are good to go. See my pics for the pricing as of Aug 2023. The Sat I came, they seemed very short staffed with only two people managing the rental payments and forms and then another 2 manning all the boats/boards. So we pretty much ended up having to launch and bring back our vessels ourselves. They have very limited 2 person kayaks and they require kids under 12 to be in a boat with another adult so be prepared. In addition to kayaks they have jon boats and stand up paddle boards. You can bring your own vessel but there are launch prices. The lake is quite large so 1 hour is still not enough to explore its entirety even if you were powering through. The boat rental process is this: 1) Each person needs to fill out a waiver (just one page), you need to keep the yellow paper on you and return it when you come back. 2) Payments can be done per person or by group and they accept Apple Pay 3) Go down to the dock, hand them your form 4) They will tell you which vessel you can pick and hand you life vests and paddle(s) 5) Go have fun 6) Return the vessel 7) Bring back the yellow form to the rental house Not sure why we need to keep a piece of paper on us while out on the water. I've rented boats in many other places and all they needed was the vessel back. I guess to prevent theft...but they log the number assigned to the vessel on the form prior to you renting so...But at least there isn't an entrance fee to this park and there isn't really much else to do besides activities around the water front. There is a trail that leads to Bull Run, but there isn't say a playground, picnic area, or sports fields. Parking is pretty limited but you can park along the side of the road.

One of my dogs favorite hiking spots. The bike trails are good too, although this park is nestled…read moreway out of suburban NOVA areas like FFX.
