As to be expected the surrounding area had a very high traffic of tourists and some pretty good restaurants ranging in prices. I even found a Jollibee nearby. Unfortunately, the fare gate was very slow in processing my credit card. One time, it even stopped working for everyone. They had to open a door to let us through.

The station opened in 1955 and is one of the original stations of the line. It's in the core of the tourist areas of the city, near the Imperial forums, Trajan's Market and Trajan's Forum. The station is in a convenient location for tourists who are heading to the Colosseum and Roman Forum. There is work to make this an Interchange Station however this is not complete yet and the works are currently expected to take until 2025. Like the Colosseum, a lot of scammers seem to circulate within the station and just outside, and do be aware of pickpockets which seem to target this stop in particular on the Rome Metro, I did find the concourse to be quite busy and I did notice a lack of seats throughout the station for demand. I would also advise purchasing tickets beforehand for the same reason, as the ticket hall can be so crowded with queues for the machines, especially when a ticket machine is out of order. If you do have to use a ticket machine, there is an English language option. The platform area seems really worse for wear as well, and it just felt like a letdown compared to metro systems in other cities in particular such as Lisbon and Stockholm. No escalators - steps only! 3* - The location is great for tourists, but the station its-self requires a lot of work.

Piazza dei Cinquecento is the large plaza in front of the station, containing a parking lot and bus stands, a tourist info booth. There is an extended length of ruins of an early 4th century BC Roman Servian Wall (a defensive wall encircling the earliest city boundaries) preserved just outside the station. It's viewable directly adjacent on the north edge of the street leaving the station. The design of station with floor-to-ceiling glass panels with a wave pattern allows commuters inside to admire the ruins from inside. Within the station, 29 train platforms mean plenty of train service, making Rome reachable from most major cities in Italy, and cities across Europe. The entrance hall is filled with restaurants, shops, a couple train lounges and a food court upstairs, car rental offices, post office, railway ticket office, and a tourist info desk. In the basement level has more shops including a grocery store, luggage holding service, and bathrooms. To access the platforms, you need to scan your ticket thru the turnstiles or scanned by the security attendants. The departure/arrivals locations and times are listed on the signs at the head of each platform. I purchased my tickets online in advance so only interaction was scanning my ticket which was quick and easy. It feels less like a standard train station and more like a mega-mall that happens to have tracks attached. The selection of stores, cafes, and markets here is fantastic--you can easily kill an hour shopping or grabbing a great bite to eat while waiting for a departure. Just a heads-up: give yourself plenty of extra time to reach your train. The platforms here are incredibly long, and if your train is assigned to one of the regional tracks or a high-speed engine waiting far down the line, it can be a massive, unexpected walk to get to your carriage. Keep your eyes on the departure boards and don't linger at the shops too long.

They have a decent selection of restaurants in a good size food hall. The only issue I had was how packed it was! It's extremely busy, so trying to find a table to eat at was a challenge. There is a restroom in the back, but it's for paying customers only. They will check for a receipt, so don't throw it away! The rail system in Rome hits all the major attractions, and goes out to the coast! It's an easy and affordable way to see Rome!

I mean, the food options are so diverse! Go with a group and share as many items as possible. Just do it!!

I believe from the beginning of him picking us up, to the end of him dropping us off at the airport that the service was beyond excellent. My opinion of the taxi service in Amsterdam and Belgium has not been the best. So when we actually came across a taxi cab that was honest, professional and polite I wanted to say thumbs up man, finally, I get a taxi cab that is on point.
