It's €14 per person, which we purchased online. There is a mini-groups discounted fare- 4 tickets in a single transaction for €40. There was 3 of us (€42), so it was kind of annoying we couldn't do the discounted fare.

We headed to the Leonardo Express platform to catch the Leonardo Express to Fiumicino Airport. The next train was leaving a couple of minutes later. We tried to tap our credit cards on the automatic machines on the platform but they were not working. We asked a Trenitalia employee and a controller, who were talking to each other at the entrance of the train, if it was ok to pay on board, and they said yes, so we decided to board the train immediately. After we found seats on the train, I pulled out my cell phone and purchased tickets online. I saw that we needed to purchase only two tickets since each adult could be accompanied by one child (please see attached copy of the tickets). Just before arriving to Fiumicino Airport, the same controller we had seen when we boarded the train asked for our tickets. I showed her the tickets on my phone and she said "I do not see tickets here". At first I did not understand what she was saying, so I asked her to repeat and explain what the problem was. That is when I realized that, in the rush, I made the mistake of purchasing tickets from Fiumicino to Termini, instead of from Termini to Fiumicino. This is my mistake, I admit it. I tried to explain to the controller that we were not going to use the tickets I had bought (we live in the USA and have no plan to travel back to Rome soon) but she was very rude and made no effort to try and understand that this was just an honest mistake. She then said I had to purchase new tickets and that the cost of each ticket, when purchased on board, is 64 euros per ticket. I was so shocked that I first refused. The controller then threatened to call the airport police if I refused to pay. Having no choice, I paid, using my American Express card to pay the exorbitant amount of 128 euros (please see attached copy of that receipt). This was a total scam. The controller never informed us that purchasing tickets on board cost the astronomical amount of 64 euros per ticket. The controller was rude and discourteous and made no effort at understanding the situation. We were just tourists trying to make our way to the airport, not delinquants trying to get a free ride, but we were treated as if we had deliberately tried to break the law. I complained at the station at the airport and was given an email address to send my complaint. Needless to say, I never received a reply.

Lots of seating and dining options including some surprisingly inexpensive choices. I got a plate of sliced porchetta, just the meat, for just over €5. Very satisfying. The environment in T3, especially the upper dining floor, is cool, airy with lots of space, and surprisingly subdued in tone despite the volume of people. Relaxing, even! It's a little nerve wracking that the gates are announced so late, 30-45 minutes before boarding, but it's not much of a gauntlet to get to one's gate. T1 and T3 are easily accessible from the train. If you're looking for a last minute postcard drop, there are mailboxes inside T1 at the main departures level, just ask the person at the info booth. Check-in both times went smoothly and the service was courteous. Would appreciate this kind of service in North America. You can given bring up to 2L of liquids through security, gasp! Great airport. Can't wait to visit again!

WiFi is only available in the lobby, but if you request rooms 1-4, some service may "bleed" into your room. There is a breakfast offering downstairs. Some room rates get you access. Think yogurt, rolls, cold cuts and cheese, hot coffee/tea, and fruit and syrup. Can come in handy if you're a budget traveler. Like most major city hotels, the rooms are small... basically dorm-sized (100-300sq ft) to use a US-based comparison. Perfect for solo travelers and couples, but I wouldn't recommend going with friends or platonic business partners as it may be a bit cramped. There's a 24 hour front desk so you don't have to worry about late check in which is great for piece of mind. My front desk experience had someone speaking English, so check In was smooth for me. That said, that's nothing a Italian phrase book can't fix. In the mornings there's a street bazaar that occurs right outside and down the block. Clothes, gifts, electronics and food are offered during the day. Good for souvenirs that just don't say "Rome" on em.

Metro Colosseo is the main metro station serving the Colosseum in Rome, it is located on Line B of…read morethe Rome Metro and opened in 1955. The station is in a convenient location for tourists who are heading to the Colosseum and Roman Forum. There is work to make this an Interchange Station however this is not complete yet and the works are currently expected to take until 2025. Like the Colosseum, a lot of scammers seem to circulate within the station and just outside, and do be aware of pickpockets which seem to target this stop in particular on the Rome Metro, I did find the concourse to be quite busy and I did notice a lack of seats throughout the station for demand. I would also advise purchasing tickets beforehand for the same reason, as the ticket hall can be so crowded with queues for the machines, especially when a ticket machine is out of order. If you do have to use a ticket machine, there is an English language option. The platform area seems really worse for wear as well, and it just felt like a letdown compared to metro systems in other cities in particular such as Lisbon and Stockholm. No escalators - steps only! 3* - The location is great for tourists, but the station its-self requires a lot of work.

I still think this is the right place. * * * The trouble with ruins is that they are ... well ... ruined. The actual ruins when they were alive would have had painted sculpture, furniture, wall hangings, and everything would have been complete. Ruins don't look anything like what Ancient Ostia looked like in any period. And of course, the markets don't have any of the wonderful stuff that the Romans would have been buying. So I spend my free choice days going to see beautiful Italian places that are in somewhat better shape. * * * That said, the Ancient Ostia Archaeological Park is a beautiful place to be. It just works well as a park. Ostia is actually incredibly well endowed with parks. The Ancient Archaeology park is just one in a series. The ones that I have seen are extremely beautiful. So in the case of Ancient Ostia, I found a nice shady place underneath a spreading tree, Made myself comfortable sitting against the trunk, And looked at the trees and the birds and the ancient stuff and the people coming and the people going. Looking at broken down stone foundations is no worse than looking at a New England stone wall. It was a fine way to spend a sunny afternoon. * * * They sell very cool t-shirts at the souvenir store if you have friends who like images of Ancient Rome. The other parks have the trees and the birds and the people and the tranquility. But they don't have t-shirts - Or 2000 years of history.

The estimate to walk from the entrance to the far end is about 1 hour (on very uneven cobbles). There is a shuttle that takes you to the far end for €5, and I suggest you take it.
