If you know me, you know I despise driving - it makes me feel so lazy! As a runner it just doesn't ever make sense to drive a car less miles than I can jog but often it's just necessary. Unfortunately there aren't many opportunities for me to ride the metro in LA. I have however started taking it each time I go to theatre. It definitely feels far less utilized and common in LA than it does in other cities (domestic and abroad) but I'm totally satisfied with the quick trips I make around town when I do. I always keep a couple tap cards in my handbags so I'm ready when it's time. It's a bit cringe that I even have to drive my car to the metro stop but it is what it is. They've also been charging for parking for several years now, but you'll quickly learn in LA similar to NY this will still run you far less than valet or parking at certain places. I'd highly encourage choosing the metro over driving or ubering any day in most any city. $1.75 each way and no sitting in nauseating traffic is a win for me. I often ride solo or with a friend no issues either way.

Since I wanted to go to downtown Los Angeles after picking up my brother, decided to use this stop. This stop would be the one to use going to LGB, connecting to the Metro A Line station at Willow St. It's a bit of a walk (0.2 miles) between the two, needing to cross two busy streets (since the above ground island train station in on the NW corner. The reciprocal station (to get dropped off coming from LGB) is on the NW corner, and thus is a quicker walk between the NW bus stop and the train station.

Returning from Union Station, I exited the Wilshire/Fairfax Station and found it very clean with plenty of security and cleaning crews. There were Ambassadors, Metro Security; which looks like real cops, and LAPD officers. The train was also very clean with no graffiti. It was a Tuesday evening around 8p and the station was not too busy. The subway was on time and ran efficiently. At this station is Museum Row, (several great museums within walking distance) and close to the Grove and the Original Farmers Market. This area of LA/Beverly Hills is very vibrant with many restaurants, bars, hotels, and shopping within a short distance. Metro Los Angeles has done a great job of making their busses, trains, and stations clean and safe. I hope this continues indefinitely as this will attract more and new riders. I was very pleased.

The Alhambra Community Transit (ACT) is a great service. Took it today and was greatly impressed by…read morethe efficiency and value. Fare is 25 cents! Seriously what can you get for a quarter these days? There are two routes: the Green Line and the Blue Line. Stops are clearly marked along the routes...just look for the blue ACT signage. Buses are very clean and drivers are friendly. The only downside to the waiting part is that there is no shelter to shield riders from the hot sun or rain...so keep this in mind. All in all this is a nice, convenient and affordable service for the city.

I love how it connects mid city to the rest of LA. I had a unfortunate encounter with a person who was a little less than mentally normal and possibly expirencing a situtation of being unhoused cornered me in the fair booth and was up on my person screaming that I better let him in and wouldn't let me escape. I love the sight and smell of a newly opened and clean metro station. The art work is beautiful. I couldn't stop taking pics and videos of everything!! I hope we as a city can keep it that way. There are some tap cards that came out with the opening of the new stations. They are $2/tap card + fare. They can be bought at the vending machines or the customer service centers.

An underground station near the Bunker Hill neighborhood of downtown LA, the Grand Ave Arts/Bunker…read moreHill Station was one of three brand new underground stations that opened in 2023 as part of the Regional Connector subway project. It services both the A (Blue) and E (Expo) lines, and can be used to make easy transfers on either line, both directions (since it's an island platform with trains going on either side). For me on this day, it served as an easy way to transfer from the A line from Long Beach to the E line continuing to East LA (thus no need to use the escalator/elevator or tap to transfer). As of this date, one can now use a credit card to tap-to-pay, instead of having to buy a TAP card.

This is the first stop on the Green/C line of the Metro. They have a large parking lot of 1800…read morespots. I don't take the Metro on the regular, so I can't comment on what it's like to park here on a weekday. It appears that they put in a $3/day fee on weekdays, to help with freeing up more spots for daily commuters. Parking here is free on holidays and weekends. I chose to park here when taking the C line to go to Sofi Stadium. It costs $1.50 to take the C line from Norwalk to LAX/Metro Station. There's a complimentary shuttle at that stop to go to SoFi. It's a great reason to come by. I look forward to when the LAX People Mover opens in 2026. I hope that will be a game changer in the LAX experience! For those headed to LAX, they have shuttles to and from LAX going around the clock. I don't know that I'd want to take the metro to LAX with my large luggage; however, I think it's absolutely the cheapest way to access LAX and SoFi Stadium!
