Several months ago I bought a brand new 2025 Toyota Rav 4 from this dealership. I sought this dealership out because I am a Costco member and there are additional discounts for buying at a preferred dealership. I started out with emails and phone calls and was put in touch with a sales person that would be the best fit. It seemed fine at first but then my questions and calls started to seem like I was irritating the sales person. She seemed bored and just wanted to sell the car not do any work for me the customer. The car finally arrived and I went to pick it up. Granted this dealership was over a hour and a half away from my home. I was super excited to be buying a brand new car. When I arrived at the dealership. I had to go seek out the sales person. She seemed less than excited. The car was not detailed very well. There were scratches and dirty marks on the inside and out. The interior color was not what I chose. The sales person seemed like I should just accept everything without being upset. It was a very bland transaction. It took a lot of doing but we ended up figuring things out and I took the car. I love the car but would NOT go back to this dealership for anything. They need to work on customer service and care. I love and trust Metro Toyota, and my favorite service person--Elliott H.--is THEE best! My Dad bought a Toyota Previa in 1991 from Metro. When my Dad died in 1996, I got his Previa van. I drove it until 2011. We never had any engine work done on it! It stopped working with 348,000+ miles on itso were ided rather than fixing it to get our present day Toyota Sienna. We bought their used 2009 shuttle van with 30,000 miles on it. I have literally put enough extra miles on it in the 12 years we've had her to drive to the moon! Again, no engine work done on her! Vehicle has lived in Michigan all her life without have rust protect and no rust and still the original muffler! When the time comes to upgrade to the new hybrid Sienna, we plan on giving my 2099 Sienna to grandson for his family touse. I always get great customer service, and Elliott in the service department always looks out for me! He even comes to my car and gets my rollator out for me so I don't have to struggle! I am always treated with respect and dignity. I have never been "talked down to" as some car shops do to women. For me, there's no other service center; and, I wouldn't shop anywhere else for a new or used car. Metro sees me as a valued customer always! read more

I bought my 1st Toyota a year ago in AZ where I was rushed thru the process and left sitting for hours waiting for them to do the paperwork and push me out into the night with a car. The dealerships I've worked with in that state are horrible, and I ended up taking my cars, even those under warranty, to a local mechanic, rather than back to the dealership where they fabricated problems and charged ridiculous prices for simple things such as oil changes. Recently I moved to MI and was introduced to Metro Toyota. What a difference! The service, the people there are fantastic. The process under which servicing is done is so incredibly foreign to my experiences in AZ. But I want to give a special shout-out to this dealership for some other things I've noticed, the first being that there are so many "experienced" (I'll not use "older") employees, especially women, in the service dept and elsewhere there. The 2nd is that they have BOXED water available to their customers instead of the usual plastic bottles. The 3rd is the patience & honesty they show their clientele, whereas I'm so used to being "worked around" and "hook-winked" by other dealerships. I commend Metro Toyota for their excellence. Horrible customer service. Can't tell me if I could get a rental until my car is in the shop. They seemed fine with being unsure whether my son would have to sleep at the place where he does gymnastics or if I'd need a sleeping bag to sleep in the parking lot. Wtf? If someone asks to pay to rent a car, it's because they need to have a car. If the person on the phone didn't start out by acting like I was inconveniencing her life, things may have gone better. Just bought brand new rav4 for my wife. The entire infotainment unit immediately acted up. Went completely dark at times. Cut off phone calls. All kinds of problems. My wife had video of this all happening. They had her go in multiple times and sit there for hours. Then they'd say they couldn't get it to do anything, so they couldn't fix it. Also told her she would need a new iphone because her iphone 8 was too old. Of course, no mention of this before we spent $40,000 on the car. They charge $169.99 per hour for labor, but apparently my wife's time is worthless. So after the 3rd time, I went in to help her because they were dicking her around bigtime. The guy told me she would need a new phone and they wouldn't fix it. I told him that was bullshit. Now they say they won't even work with us unless I go in to apologize for being mean to the man when he told me we needed a new $1000 phone to use the radio on a brand new car. read more

Avoid like the plague. Spent $14,500 on a used car here from Ken. Discovered an issue during the buying process that Ken said would be fixed. It wasn't. Had to fight with the manager Jordan to get him to address the issues. TWICE they apparently had this issue "FIXED" and I have been living with it now for months. Check engine light always on. I chose to believe them. They addressed it twice. It seems to be working. I let it go. Then the car started breaking down. Fast forward to now, they don't want to address the issue. They want to argue and talk to me like a child and remind me that "cars need maintenance." Well, if you replaced the 02 sensors and the catalytic converter TWICE, why am I being told by my trusted mechanic today that I have to replace both my 02 sensors and that it COULD BE the catalytic converter? I smell crap. They also attempted to sell me a faulty spare without bringing it to my attention. When I noticed they told me they would be able to have a new key cut if I ordered one. Never did that, because honestly I was exhausted dealing with these people and I don't need more than one key. Til the key on this bucket that WAS working, broke. Now they want me to do the footwork for them to talk to their key guy, and don't respond to my message or even agree to cover the cost. Honestly, crooks. Never shop here. I should have never bought this vehicle. It is the most I've ever spent on a car and I have never had more issues with a vehicle in my life. I just bought my Highlander from there last week I worked with Liem Nguyen he has gone way above and beyond! I took my Prius in for routine maintenance at 115k. In addition to the oil change, I wanted a rotation, balance, and alignment. I asked for the flashing then fully lit tire pressure warning light to be checked, and to have a quote on fixing not being able to lower my passenger rear window from the driver's controls. I also asked for a list of those longer maintenance things that I had been given my last visit, like transmission stuff, plugs, differential fluid, and so on, and I would pick one of them in order to spread out the cost. At that point the lady working with me asked me if I wanted a wash, I said sure just roll up the back window. I then waited for 2 1/2 hours at which point I was to pay. I was never approached about plugs, transmission fluid, etc. I was never given a quote on the window thing. They didn't even check the tire pressure sensors, which takes less than 30 seconds. To top it off, they never even F'ing washed my car. I'm not going back to this place because I've seen a significant deterioration over the past 5 years. I'm also buying Kia, as my car is a 2012, I have secured financing for my next hybrid, and because Toyota has been very slow to address issues like the leaking manifolds at 70k miles, which they haven't recalled. By the way, the last then told me this stuff wasn't done because she thought I was in a rush (2 1/2 hours ain't a rush!), then asked me if I wanted her card. I politely said no thank you. I look at the whole experience as God giving me the opportunity to practice refocusing and medication instead of reacting how I would normally react when this b.s. happens. read more

Customer Beware: Bottom line Metro Toyota looks out for their own best interest before the needs of their customers. I highly recommend taking your Toyota to an independent repair facility before taking it to Metro for repairs. Below is a detailed account of my recent experience with this dealership: We have taken our 2012 Sienna to Metro for routine oil changes and warranty work for over 3 years. Customer service during these routine visits has always been ok but nothing outstanding. Recently during a oil change the tech noted that we had a leaking head gasket. The repair estimate topped out at a whopping $4800 without a specific cost breakdown. I decided to get a second opinion on the head gasket since this was noted as a critical issue. I took it to a local independent repair shop. The owner who was also the mechanic that evaluated the issue confirmed that there was a slight leak in the head gasket. He also told me that the only tech that was certified to service Toyota vehicles was out on disability for 6 weeks. He was unable to give an estimate for the repair given this factor. In the meantime, I received a survey from Toyota regarding asking me to review my recent service visit at Metro. I expressed my concern about the cost of the repairs in the survey. A day later, I received a call from the service manager at Metro apologizing for the high estimate and he said would look over the estimate to try to get the cost down. A few days later he called with the new estimate of $4300 to replace the head gasket . He stated that the cylinders would need to be remachined as part of the repair and that was a big portion of cost along with the labor. I told him I needed to discuss the repair cost with my husband and decide if it was worth repairing or just trading in the vehicle. Within 24 hours I was contacted via email by the sales manager offering top dollar on my Sienna trade in along with a number of special incentives on a new 2020 Sienna. The timing seemed a little fishy considering we were given such a high repair estimate and the 2020 incentives were just beginning to roll out. I emailed the sales manager for an estimate on the monthly payment on the 2020 which was more than double our current car payment. I sent an email to the sales manager that the car payment on 2020 wasn't in our budget and requested information on a 2016 Sienna that they on the lot. He never responded to my email. We decided to take it to another independent Toyota certified repair shop before making the final decision on purchasing a different vehicle. The tech confirmed the head gasket leak was slight but the coolant levels and oil were fine. He gave us an estimate that was $1200 less than Metro. Thank goodness for honest mechanics who have the customer's best interest in mind rather than padding the bill for financial gain. We will be repairing the head gasket rather than trading it in We will no longer be taking our Toyota to Metro for service or repairs unless absolutely necessary. read more

Our check engine light was on. Our car had been stored for several weeks and when we looked further we found the liner under the hood chewed up by mice. Of course nothing to do with the check engine light. so we brought it to MetroToyota to have them diagnose the warning(s). We were told that the wiring harness was damaged by mice and we need it replaced. $8,000.00! We went back to talk to them - in shock - about our options. The second sentence from his mouth, iterally, was 'Don't worry just turn it over to your insurance. We have had a lot of these claims during this pandemic' ( he said happily). I immediately told him we did NOT have insurance for that... he went and talked to his 'boss' and they lowered it by $1,200. We left with our car. The long and short of it... Just took delivery of our new Tundra today. This is one of many vehicles (Toyota's) going back to 2000. I did have one Lexus RX 350 bought at a Lexus dealer that I was not happy with their service. Metro took over all service on this car. Cost was less & got much better care!! In the past 6 yrs we have had three Highlanders. We love the Highlanders & just got a '19 in May; best one yet!!! Why do we go to Metro? Consistent great service from all departments!! Alex McNut is a great example of what you should want from a sales professional. He is honest & listens. No "bull" here. Jeff DeNooyer has great personnel; never a problem with sales or service!! If you want a great Toyota product, this is the place to purchase or lease. I have taken my Scion here for the past 5 years... WHY? I don't know! Certain service associates have been unhelpful and in many cases dishonest. I had my side mirror replaced and they didn't offer to give me back the old part, which they are supposed to do. I was charged $100 for them to "clean" my gas cap and was almost charged for services that were under warrantee (until a rare, helpful employee, spoke up on my behalf). Multiple times they have forgotten to reset my check engine light, or have not checked and filled my tires and fluids. Lastly, like I said, I had been bringing my car here regularly for the last five years and been seeing the same employee, yet they seem to not recognize me and act like I've never been there every time. Someone with good customer relations would at least pretend to know a regular customer. I hope I never have to go to this place again! AWFUL! I am much happier with Tuffy Auto Service on Westnedge Ave. Employees are honest, kind and helpful. Prices are MUCH better. read more

I was told work would take approximately 2 hours, it is now 11:30 and I'm still sitting here waiting. He is friendly, honest, and very efficient in his job. I always book an appointment online and receive prompt service. I was very upset to find that my service guy "Scott" insisted that I repair a tire for $100 due to a screw located in a region of the tire that law prohibits patching, but full replacement. Good thing I didn't allow the repair! I consulted with my husband who looked into the matter further. I was relieved to see that the nail "very small" didn't even penetrate the tire. There's clearly a difference between a nail penetrating the tire and just resting in between the thread like gravel. It could've been plucked out, literally. Nice work Metro Toyota. You guys tried making a $100 sale for no reason. So unethical!!!! Since this incident, I've made a decision to purchase my new Prius elsewhere. As far as shadiness goes this place is right under Seelye. Went in here spoke with them about one of Toyota's lease specials going on right now. 190$ month 3k down for the Tacoma's. Told me that deal is no good and to use their off sourced leasing program cause it's a better deal. Ended up being 3 times higher than Toyota's lease program. Wouldn't give me the option to use Toyota's program which I came in for. Then to top off the cake he offers me 5,000$ for my car that blue books at 9,000 both nada and blue book. Had a coupon for a $276 brake service. Needed front brakes done, so made an appointment for my airbag recall and front brakes. They had my vehicle for 4 hours before they called and said they did not have an airbag for me. Then told me that I needed new brake calipers and brake fluid replaced bringing my brake job to $900! They also recommended over $2000 of additional UNNECESSARY work done. I knew I did not need calipers so I told them "never mind the brake job, i'll take it somewhere else". They then wanted to charge me $52 for inspecting my brakes. No way. So it was a total waste of my day. Took my vehicle elsewhere and, as expected, it did not need calipers (or any of those other services). I do not trust anything they tell me now. read more

In the past year while having my two Toyotas serviced at Metro I've had $100 of gift cards stolen from my dash compartment. The head of the Service department, after seeing my post called me and is refunding me the amount of the lost gift cards. I am impressed with their integrity and willingness to satisfy the customer. Was looking for a part for my Toyota and their parts site, http://www.toyotaparts.metro-toyota.com, listed my part for an incredible price. I made the purchase and the next day get a call saying they will not sell me the part at the price THEY had listed it for but rather were going to charge me another $80 dollars for it? And the best part? When the guy called me to tell me that I can should go kick rocks that "Toyota wouldn't like me telling you this but if you go this competitor they will sell the same exact part to you for $100 less than you 'bought' it at from us." I call the competitor and they tell me its the 3rd time that day that someone called them saying a Toyota dealer told them to call for parts. In my opinion, if you list a price and accept a card for processing that fault is on you to bear the burden not the customer. You offered, I accepted and then you cowardly took it back. We purchased our second vehicle (model year 2011) from Metro earlier this year. Before buying, we had it inspected by a third party shop who had great things to say about it but that it needed a new battery. When we discussed this with Metro, they told us the car had been sitting on the lot and just needed to be charged. They had the maintenance crew at Metro inspect, give it a passing grade, and said it should give us no issues. We expressed discomfort about spending so much $ on a vehicle, then having to replace a battery a soon thereafter. Metro told us that they would make sure it gets replaced if we ran into issues. Fast forward to last month when we brought it in for its first oil change and Metro's own service department told us the vehicle badly needs a new battery. We told them what happened when we bought it and they were visibly surprised. They called the used car sales dept who said no, they would be doing nothing. They didn't even try to charge the battery for us. When we arrived to pick the vehicle up, it was left running in the parking lot, using our gas to supposedly "keep the battery up." ?? We contacted Metro management about this soon thereafter and received no response from them at all. Pretty disappointed in the service we are receiving as (now formerly) repeat customers. read more

Both of the rear leaf spring assemblies are broken and are suppose to be replaced under a safety recall. There is just one spring left on each side intact with the others hanging and pointing out towards the fuel tank and tire. However, because I complained about my treatment to corporate the dealership are refusing to do the repair and told me to come get my truck. My attorney says to absolutely NOT drive the vehicle in such an unsafe condition and that Toyota has a legal obligation to address this issue as agreed to. My initial complaint was about an unexplainable $120 fee for doing the recall. read more

I have used Metro Toyota for the last eight years having owned four Toyota vehicles in that time. Yesterday my son took in 2012 RAV for standard service, apparently the last appointment of the day. They made two attempts to call which he missed, then when he arrived around 5.45 took payment. I asked him what they said, were there any issues. Nobody drew his attention to any items. When I looked through the paperwork the air filters needed replacing and it said the coolant was empty. Now I couldn't believe they would send a vehicle home with no engine coolant so I thought this was to do with the AC. But just to make sure I rang the guy this morning to check it out as my daughter is due to go to Ann Arbor later today. It's very clear that he was annoyed that my son's phone ( which is unreliable) didn't have answer phone set up, he tried to call him twice at around 5pm, and his main concern was getting home and not staying late. He handed it to someone else who just took payment. Thus no message was given and my son drove it home!!!!! He appears to think its maybe a small leak but the paperwork SAYS empty! I've used this place for 8 years and still have the same cell number, why not call me? I have no faith in the guy I spoke with I can't believe the casual attitude to this issue! Tried to speak to service manager but all I got was voicemail. My son apparently had looked at the website which said 6pm closing time. He was there by 5.50 when he called me to tell me how much the service was. read more

Overall, I think most people will like Metro Toyota. I truly believe they take pride in the products they sell and the services they provide. With no question, the management and staff are good people and set high standards. However, a few years after I purchased a new Camry, they started to relentlessly, in my opinion, try to persuade me to trade-in the car for 60% of its retail value and to purchase another new car. An obvious attempt to maximize their profits; after all they are a business. Emails, mailed letters, texts to your cell phone, you name it they will take advantage of your personal contact information. Why am I spending time writing this when probably every dealership in the world uses these same marketing techniques? Because, in my case, they have failed to respect my requests for them to stop sending me these ridiculous trade-in offers. I have told them multiple times I have no interest in selling my car to them, but they keep sending me the communications. Business 101, you are failing if you fail to respect your customer's preferences and wishes. Irritating your customers is never a good practice. Perhaps most customer receive these trade-in offers, laugh, and pitch it in the trash, but they annoy me. I would consider purchasing another car from Metro, but not before I have exhausted all of my options at every other Toyota dealership in a 50-mile radius. If Metro is nearby and convenient, you will be happy with their service, they have some great sales and service staff, just prepare yourself for their inability to listen once you have signed on the dotted line.. read more

So I was thinking about selling/trading my 2006 Toyota Tundra SR5 with 18.600 miles. Went to Metro to get an appraisal from folks who really know Toyota products. Actually, I e-mailed a request to make an appointment. Jerome, a Sales Professional, called me later that morning and I was on my way there. I did not know I would buy a car that day. Jerome LISTENED to me...to what I said...he picked up on what my interests were and quickly started to go to work. We looked at a Prius (I liked the Hybrid idea) and were walking toward another vehicle when we discovered it had been sold.. "Wait a minute" Jerome said...and holey moley he came around with a Lexus CT 200 Hybrid (I had disclosed in conversation that I was a previous Lexus owner). OMG, Jerome had gleaned from talking to me EXACTLY what I was looking for, tho I had never seen the CT 200. I got a great price on my truck, a good deal on the Lexus, and walked away with a car AND a check. They finally called back. The person on the phone said they had tried to call which is false. My phone logs all calls and has voice mail. There were no calls received from them. The peron on the phone said they wouldn't honor the shipping quoted on their site and blamed it on Fedex because he said their rates were wrong. Tried to charge me four times the quoted rate. Told hm no thanks. I found another TRD site that had similar shipping rates to the quoted price and ended I up with the entire order being even cheaper. My order has already shipped after only two days and is scheduled to be here early next week. read more
