I cannot thank them enough for guiding me through this journey, every step of the way they were right there! The 24 hour midwife line for texts and calls was amazing. I loved that I was given the opportunity to listen to my own body and avoid invasive procedures during prenatal visits. I labored at the birthing center from 6:30pm and 8.5 hours later my daughter came. This was a longer active labor than intended, but through each obstacle Joy and Christina remained patient, calm, and knew exactly what to do to deliver my daughter safely. My family who were previously nervous that I wasn't seeing and OB or delivering at a hospital, (I'm 4'8", 100lbs pre pregnancy) and after experiencing my birth they absolutely loved being able to be apart of something so beautiful. So many options when it comes to midwives. I'm so thankful that my friend recommended Becky, at Dallas Birth. Becky offered customized care, consistent support, and was always professional while maintaining the perfect level of relatability and tenderness. I felt safe with Becky; her level of expertise was always reassuring. Becky helped me to have the birth I wanted; a birth where I was in control, supported, and adequately monitored to ensure that baby and I were healthy and progressing in the right direction. I plan to use Dallas Birth Midwifery again, should I get pregnant again. You won't regret choosing them!!

My pregnancy with my first was an overall good experience-but left me feeling a bit like a number and not a person. This pregnancy, I had so much more energy and felt much less anxious-and I owe it all to Becky's support and encouragement. "Normal" pregnancy symptoms weren't over looked and she had recommendations and cared to help me navigate every step. The way she listened and educated was really empowering and healing in and of itself. We had hour (or longer) visits and access to talk with Becky between visits in an online portal-which gave no time for concerns to fester. The way she cared for me (and my 2 year old) at each visit really surpassed expectations and I always left motivated and excited for the next visit. Being truly cared for in a medical setting is not common. All of this resulted in the easiest and quickest labor which was a huge answered prayer. She is intentional, very knowledgeable, and hilarious. Every pregnant mama needs a Becky! We were a little nervous about the cost initially-but the value and services included make Dallas Birth really a great value. So many things were included that we paid out of pocket for our first-lactation services, placenta encapsulation, birth tub, birth classes, pregnancy teas, and probably a lot more that I'm not thinking of or didn't need. And we can submit a claim to insurance after to get reimbursed. I also loved that I didn't have to research different services-Becky takes care of everything.

My wife started her prenatal visits early in her pregnancy and was assigned to Dr. Ceesay. From the very first visit, things felt wrong. Dr. Ceesay was routinely late, showed no interest in answering questions, and often made us feel like our concerns were a burden. As first-time parents, that was devastating. At one point, Dr. Ceesay told us we were fully covered to deliver at Baylor Scott & White in Irving, and we trusted her. But when my wife later had a fall and needed an emergency checkup, we went to Baylor Scott--only to find out later from Dr. Ceesay that we were not covered there at all. She suddenly said we'd have to deliver at a hospital in Bedford, over 90 minutes away from our home, and told us that was our only option. When we expressed our concerns, her tone was cold and dismissive. At our 39-week appointment, she asked if we wanted to schedule an induction. We said we'd prefer to wait until 40 weeks. She agreed and said she'd see us next week. At our 40-week+3 appointment, she asked if we wanted a "sweep" but didn't explain what that meant. We declined because we didn't understand. After we looked it up outside the clinic and realized it could help initiate labor, we immediately went back in to ask for it. Dr. Ceesay refused, saying we'd need to book another appointment and left. We then asked her to schedule the induction. She said, "You declined last week, so now they'll fit you in whenever they want." No guidance, no support. At this point, my wife was past 41 weeks, and we had no idea when or if she'd be induced. We tried calling the clinic, sending portal messages, and leaving voicemails. No response. The front desk even hung up on me--twice. I eventually called the hospital myself. They confirmed that they were unable to reach Dr. Ceesay or her medical assistant, despite multiple attempts. After days of stress and no help from the clinic, we were finally scheduled for induction at 41 weeks and 4 days. When my wife was admitted, she had to undergo an emergency C-section--the umbilical cord was wrapped around our baby's neck, and we nearly lost him. We spoke with clinic management afterward, and they promised a follow-up within 3 days. It's been weeks. They never called back. Dr. Mamaram Ceesay's care was negligent, cold, and dismissive. She ignored our messages, abandoned us past 41 weeks of pregnancy, and showed zero compassion. If it wasn't for our own persistence and the hospital staff, we could have lost our child. If you're considering MacArthur OB-GYN in Irving--especially as a first-time parent--please think twice. The lack of communication, professionalism, and urgency could cost you everything.

From the beginning, everything was explained very thoroughly and my questions answered. The prenatal visits were very relaxed, not rushed. My options were explained to me, and I was always given the freedom to choose what I wanted to do. The Midwives at LLBC are all kind, patient, and knowledgeable. You get to meet with all three Midwives so that you are comfortable with whoever is on call when you go into labor. Krystal helped me so much along the way and referred me to a chiropractor, doula, and lactation consultant who were all professional and wonderful. The birthing center itself is nice and has a peaceful, relaxing environment. During my labor, Krystal was so patient and helpful. She explained everything that she was doing throughout the entire process, provided me with options, allowed me to make my own decisions, and answered my questions kindly. Due to failure to progress (I was not dilating past 3 cm despite multiple unsuccessful strategies to progress labor and change my baby's position.. he was sunny side up and stuck on my pelvic bone..) and prolonged rupture of membranes (it had been 20 hours since my water broke) Krystal recommended I transfer to higher level of care. Although the way I delivered was not how I planned, I was grateful to Krystal for recognizing the signs early enough to recommend the transfer before it became emergent. In the end I had a healthy baby boy and I'm grateful to the team at LLBC for their help! They have been wonderful postpartum as well!

My friend recommended I watch the documentary with Ricky Lake ( The Business of Being Born) to get more insight of what typically happens when giving birth via the hospital route and that lead me to decide to go the natural route like she did with her 4 children. She recommended I go through Family Birth Services like she did and that was the beat choice I could've made. Betty, who works in the office, was so pleasant and instantly gave warmth and comfort when I called to inquire more about how things worked. She was patient and friendly and seemed to care as if she'd already known me. At this point, I was still undecided on whether to go natural or continue with my hospital visits and upon returning to the next hospital check up visit, the feeling of being treated as a "patient" or treated as just another pregnant lady with a check up was overwhelming. My doctor was in (what I thought) was a clean hospital and my delivery was supposed to be at Medical City Hospital. I was looking for a final sign on what direction to go with the delivery and when I took my urine sample at the last doctor's office visit, I was disgusted because I - once again- had to place my urine in the small window next to the urine samples of other pregnant women whose samples had not be removed from the window yet. Needless to say, I left that appointment and asked the check out to send my records to Family Birth Services. My midwifes were Esther and April and they were a gem!! They were just as pleasant as my initial phone call to the birth center and they made me feel like they cared about me and my unborn baby like I did. This proved to be the same during the delivery and post giving birth. They both came with gloves and masks and all the safe materials needed when the day came for my baby girl to arrive. Ester made sure to check in on me and give advice on things to help with issues like painful breastfeeding and etc and April was just as knowledgable about information when I asked her. I'm beyond grateful to have listened to my friend's recommendation because a natural birth proved to be the best route that I could've gone as it relates to the treatment, cost, the lack of wear and tear on my body that would've happened under a hospital's supervision, and my overall birthing experience. I would most definitely recommend any woman looking for proper treatment for herself and her baby to use them!

I initially was very against it since this seems so dangerous and outdated but it was a pleasant experience. I convinced my wife to see a regular doctor at first and it was nothing but mistakes and people pointing fingers at each other in the office. Such a contrast with April and our student Esther. Every question answered and helpful from start to finish. Very organized and informative. I learned a lot in the classes held at the midwives location. Just the amount of support we had alone from the midwives was well worth it. We would definitely go this route again should it come to pass. There's no substitute for a mom delivering comfortably at home and these girls made that possible.
