I got connected with Becky soon after we found out I was pregnant with our second. From the first phone call-we could tell how easy she is to talk to and how supportive and caring she is. My pregnancy with my first was an overall good experience-but left me feeling a bit like a number and not a person. This pregnancy, I had so much more energy and felt much less anxious-and I owe it all to Becky's support and encouragement. "Normal" pregnancy symptoms weren't over looked and she had recommendations and cared to help me navigate every step. The way she listened and educated was really empowering and healing in and of itself. We had hour (or longer) visits and access to talk with Becky between visits in an online portal-which gave no time for concerns to fester. The way she cared for me (and my 2 year old) at each visit really surpassed expectations and I always left motivated and excited for the next visit. Being truly cared for in a medical setting is not common. All of this resulted in the easiest and quickest labor which was a huge answered prayer. She is intentional, very knowledgeable, and hilarious. Every pregnant mama needs a Becky! We were a little nervous about the cost initially-but the value and services included make Dallas Birth really a great value. So many things were included that we paid out of pocket for our first-lactation services, placenta encapsulation, birth tub, birth classes, pregnancy teas, and probably a lot more that I'm not thinking of or didn't need. Could not recommend Dallas Birth enough. I reached out to Nikki when I found out I was pregnant with my second baby. I was carrying a lot of trauma from my first pregnancy and delivery via cesarean, and I wasn't completely sure what I wanted/needed, I just knew if had to be completely different than my first experience. From our first phone meeting, I knew Nikki was what I needed. She was kind, patient, and truly took the time to get to know me as a whole person - past experiences, future hopes, fears, everything. My first in person appointment sealed the deal - where with my first pregnancy, I felt ignored for the majority of my appointments until my 8 minutes of face time with my OB, Nikki spend a full hour building a relationship with me. It was like this for every appointment. She took the time to encourage me, support me, truly get to know me. I didn't know this kind of prenatal care was possible. It truly was healing for me to feel so cared for. When labor came around, she was again patient and holistic as she supported my home birth. After over 30 hours of laboring at home, we made the call to go to the hospital after I was not progressing and my water had been broken for a long time. I ended up having another cesarean, but this time, it was trauma-free because I felt like a true participant in my labor and delivery. No one else was calling the shots. Nikki trusted me as I listened and tuned into my body's needs, and when I said it was time to go to the hospital, she supported me fully, and helped with getting me settled into my labor room. She followed up and supported me through postpartum, and never treated me any differently. She cried with me, loved on my sweet baby girl, and encouraged me where I needed it. All in all, my second delivery wasn't what I planned for, but because of Nikki's care throughout my pregnancy and delivery, it truly was healing. I seriously love my doula, Kiesha Baker, sooo much! She's unreal!! I've had her for 2 births and her peaceful yet assertive presence is EXACTLY what my husband and I needed. As they say...birth can totally change from your plan. While Kiesha helps you map out a plan for the birth of your dreams and helps you achieve it...there's the factor of just nature..:things beyond your control. That's what happened to me. A c section...exactly what I didn't want! I didn't find out it was medically necessary until the very end of my pregnancy, but Kiesha was there with us at that doctors appt when we found out. We counseled with her privately about it. I say all that to say- I'm sooo glad we had a Kiesha as our doula, even through a c section! No matter the birth she advocates for the BEST possible scenario within that situation! She's almost a midwife and I believe she would be an EXCELLENT midwife! She's easy to talk to, relatable, but also verrryyy knowledgeable. You can actually trust what she's saying has been studied and very thought through. She had a wealth of information and support from her consistent weekly emails, our pre birth planning meeting, her help during childbirth and our postpartum visit. I wanted a no med, natural birth. Nikki Knowles was my doula for my first birth. I am pleased with her coaching. She was positive and energetic which I needed for my personality type. I used DBD for the delivery of my son in October (2014). I had Kiesha and she was AMAZING. Not only did she help during my delivery, but also kept in touch throughout my pregnancy and is still extremely helpful postpartum - she is a CLC, anytime I have any breastfeeding/lactation questions, she is there to help me. We just had our first baby on April 1st and could not have done it without Becky's help! She was highly recommended by my chiropractor, Cafe of Life (I also highly recommend them!). My husband and I wanted a natural birth but also wanted to use an OBGYN and deliver at a hospital since it was our first 'go round', just to be safe. From the first time we met with Becky (she always worked with our schedule, coming to our home during the time that worked best for us) - we knew we loved her! She always showed up with loads of information, the kind of info that nobody tells you about - she willingly created our birth preferences (plan) for us and not once ever judged our requests. Throughout the full term of my pregnancy, she sent loads of emails on a broad array of topics, referencing tons of helpful facts and articles! Being as naive and ignorant as we were in the beginning, by the time the end came, we felt so much comfort knowing everything we had learned from Becky regarding the pregnancy stage, birthing process, even postpartum care! I ended up laboring for 44 hours (about 36 at home and 8 at the hospital) and Becky could not have been more helpful! She was in constant contact with me and my husband while we were at home and when we finally got to the point of going to the hospital, she was right by our side, coaching us on different techniques to use to progress the laboring process. Not to mention that she came from another delivery earlier that morning, I know she had to have been exhausted, but never once even expressed that she was tired - she was so focused on getting me the natural birth we had desired and proper care and did not once stop to give herself a break! After the baby came and she went home, all of the nurses raved about how awesome she was and how she was the best they have ever worked with (I delivered at Baylor Frisco)!! Needless to say, I had a lot that could have gone wrong and I give Becky ALL of the credit for being able to have my baby naturally! We absolutely 100% could NOT have done it without her by our sides and will certainly recommend everyone to her in the future! She's super personable and very pleasant to work with, accommodating, knowledgeable, and reassuring, the list could go on and on.
