Cori was by far the best choice for a midwife. My husband and I were new to the midwife practice. We were always interested in having a midwife and a home birth but were unsure of the entire process and the unfamiliarity. We both interviewed a few midwife practices in the DFW area, and we felt comfortable with Cori right away. She had the perfect balance between being personable and professional at the same time. I felt safe with asking her questions without being judged. She always asked what questions we would have multiple times throughout our appointments with her. She also never rushed us during appointments, and really took her time and gave us the full appointment to her undivided attention. She explains everything very well, using different resources. Cori is extremely respectful of different cultural practices, she even asks about any a couple would like to practice during the pregnancy and birth so she can be aware and accommodate. Her voice and tone was calming, moved in the room without excessive noise (which was very helpful, during the last stages of labor) and she was completely prepared. I came to Cori broken from a traumatic experience with a medicated miscarriage from a pretty but very medicalized downtown Dallas birth center in the historic district. The services and payment break down she gives you during the consultation, contradicts what's advertised on her website. With or without insurance the package price is $4,600 , which is due in total by 32 weeks. The final payment is due the day you go into labor, along with any services that aren't covered in the package price. Services not included in package price: (Rental) Birthing Tub: $250 Birthing Kit: $180 Birthing center: $1,100 Labwork: $200 - $250 Ultrasound: $100 - $150 Recommending specialist doctor: $100 - $150 ------------ You are expected to see her at least twice a month until the third trimester and then it's every week. Package Payment Plan: 1st trimester: $600 2nd trimester: $800 3rd trimester: $1,000 Payments are non-refundable. ------------- This was my first pregnancy and my husband and I decided to go with a midwife after doing research comparing services provided between a hospital and midwife. We wanted something more personal than a cold hospital room and busy doctors. The consultation was pleasant and Cori gave us the breakdown of her fees and services, which at the time we thought were reasonable and decided to book her as our midwife. At our first appointment I was 11 weeks along and it went relatively normal, I filled out paperwork, and we went over my medical history, and although I felt uncomfortable with the repeated questions of if I had any diseases (sexual or non-sexual), I adamantly stated "no" and brushed the questions off as medical routine. Her assistant does all of the hands on testing, while Cori takes notes on her computer. Her assistant took my blood for the Labwork and we were able to listen to baby's heartbeat on the doppler. After paying the first payment of $600 towards the package price, we scheduled my second appointment in the next two weeks. I started experiencing cramping over the next few days after the appointment and my husband contact Cori on a Friday, and she didn't call us back until Monday. At the consultation she stated we can call her anytime, day or night but this occurrence made me feel that I couldn't rely on her, considering I had to get medical advice elsewhere. One week before the second appointment my husband was informed he wasn't approved for the appointment time off, and since he actively wanted to be a part of the entire process he called and rescheduled. During this time, we were also in the middle of relocating and didn't want to overlap the dates, so we pushed our appointment back one more week. I stated bleeding and my husband and I immediately went to the hospital, only to be told they were unable to locate a heartbeat and I was suffering from a "missed miscarriage" we were extremely devastated. Words cannot express how traumatizing the experience left me, extreme cramps, heavy bleeding and some pretty scary sights. The whole process was draining and took an emotional toll on me. Since we weren't expecting our little one any more, my husband called to cancel the midwifes services, he asked Cori to send us the invoice for the Labwork since we knew that was the only not covered service we still needed to pay. This is where it gets complicated and petty, we received the invoice three weeks later, however along with the Labwork fee there was also a charge for a first time patient visit fee of $400, at the bottom Cori left a note threatening us that if we didn't pay the Labwork fee she would charge us for the Labwork and the hidden fee of first time patient visit. My husband contacted Cori over the hidden fee thinking there must've been a mistake since we had already paid her a non-refundable amount of $600. Instead Cori stated that the fees were correct and she further went on to blame us for rescheduling our second appointment (a week in advance) stating she had to turn away clients and also that she didn't expect us to cancel services so soon. We were flabbergasted by Cori's behavior towards us, considering that we had every intention of paying the labwork fee without her threatening an additional charge. I looked over the contract we had signed and also the breakdown fee sheet, nowhere did it state such a fee if services were canceled. Making her action towards us very petty and unprofessional. $600 non-refundable amount leads to the question, what does her services actual cover with hidden fees she can just apply without notice? The entire experience has left us feeling like a hospital/doctor would've been a better option for the price. I would highly recommend just going to a doctor or finding another midwife. read more

Cori And Becky are wonderful Midwifes. They knowledgeable, sweet and personable. They are very patient and understanding and explains very well to the spouses what is going on. They will keep you reassured when you think the worst. Even when you think you can't take it anymore and is not afraid of letting the baby go a few days to 13 late lol. For context, my first kid was born in a hospital with an OB. With kid #2, I planned a hospital birth with midwives, until I decided to switch homebirth with Cori at 36 weeks. Kid #3 was Cori from start to finish. With kid #4, we had moved out of state and used a different homebirth midwifery group. All very positive experiences and I would recommend any of those providers. But Cori is hands-down my favorite. Like, not even a contest. I could go on and on about how amazing Cori is, but I will tell just one story that exemplifies my experience with her. I had the "big" ultrasound/anatomy scan at 20 weeks with all my kids. Of the four providers I was seeing at that point in my pregnancies, Cori was the only one who personally showed up to the scan. At the others, I was just there with the ultrasound tech, and my provider later reviewed the results. As it turns out, this was also the only scan that uncovered a potentially serious concern: My baby's right kidney was dilated/enlarged. I could tell something wasn't right as Cori and the ultrasound tech huddled over the screen, pointing and conversing quietly. I was glad I didn't have to wait to find out what was going on, and I was glad it was Cori, and not some random ultrasound tech, who ultimately delivered the news to me. Cori said I needed to see a perinatologist for a more in-depth ultrasound. She set up the appointment for me, and joined me again at the appointment. I was nervous about being a homebirth mama going to see a doctor who deals with highly medicalized pregnancies -- would he harass me for choosing homebirth? -- and so it was a MASSIVE relief knowing Cori would be there and could help run interference as needed. As it turns out, the perinatologist was fine, my baby was fine, and I was able to proceed with a normal homebirth. As a footnote, the dilated kidney did end up being a symptom of a bigger issue, which ended up necessitating surgery when my daughter was 3 years old. Because it was caught at that 20 week ultrasound, we knew about it and were able to monitor it appropriately post-birth and eventually recognize that surgery was needed in a timely manner. If it hadn't been for Cori's sharp eyes on that ultrasound, we might not have caught the problem until she was much older and it became a much bigger issue. So, that's Cori in a nutshell. First and foremost, she delivers excellent medical care. She puts safety first, she's evidence based, and she doesn't hesitate to use technology (e.g. ultrasounds) where it's needed/helpful. But lots of providers do that. What truly sets Cori apart is that she combines that excellent medical care with excellent emotional care. She was there for me when I needed her. Heck, she's *still* there for me when I need her: When I returned to the area to run the Dallas Marathon in 2016, she came out to cheer me on. This was four years after my last Barefoot Baby was born, we were living out of state, and our family was complete -- this wasn't something Cori did to get our business. This was something Cori did because she cares about me, and about my family. This care infused every single one of our interactions with her, and made the births themselves truly special. We have been absolutely happy with Cori's expertise and care! Originally we planned to have a hospital birth, but after learning more about the Bradley natural childbirth method, we decided to do a home birth instead. A friend helped us find Cori and she quickly accepted our transfer even though I was in third trimester. Unlike being rushed at the hospital, each appointment with Cori was 1 hour long so that we, as first time parents, have ample time to learn more about labor besides doing routine checkups. Both me and my husband were able to be present, which was not allowed in the hospital due to COVID. I always loved going to Cori's appointments as she is friendly, professional and reassuring, and my husband really likes her passion about her profession. When contractions started late at night, Cori walked me through things I should do on the phone. During the labor, she and her assistant were calm, positive, and encouraging. I had a great delivery experience and I really loved it that our baby girl was born in our quiet and comfortable home. One other favorite thing of mine is that during postpartum checkups, Cori was always calming and comforting our baby as she examined her, and as a result our baby never cried during these exams. Let me start with the fact that I was looking for a VBAC provider as I had my first daughter by C-section unwillingly. She was breech and my OB was unwilling to turn her saying there was only a 20% success rate. The recovery of the surgery for me was not a great experience and it took years to get back to my normal self, both mentally and physically. With my second pregnancy, I knew from the start I did not want to go down the road of a repeat C-section so I started looking for providers that were true VBAC supporters. The first OB I sought said she was tolerant IF everything lined up perfectly. I then went to a birth center that was out of my comfort zone (and a little too theatrical) and continued my search until I found Cori with Barefoot Midwifery. I gave her a call past business hours and she immediately called me back to make an appointment for a meet and greet. She was able to fit me in at my availability and upon talking with her, knew she was a good fit for me. She keeps all her records electronically using a client portal that you both can access at any time that is easy to update and use. I only had one appointment that had to be rescheduled due to a birth she was attending. She is very good about keeping and respecting your appointment time for you, meaning you will not have to wait once you arrive. Every appointment gave me the opportunity to discuss any questions or concerns I had with plenty of time to perform the normal vital checks. Cori never made me feel rushed and really listened to my birth plan. I went into labor at 37 weeks (full term) and Cori was very supportive and responsive, including showing up to the house even though I was only in early labor. She later came back when I was further along and stayed with me past when baby was born. Her calmness and support made my dream birth a reality! She performs post-natal care for the baby up to 6 weeks and is great about providing any resources and/or external provider recommendations if needed. If she ever ran late for any reason she would text me to give advanced notice so that I never had to wait. She made me feel safe, cared for and at ease. Cori addressed every question or concern I had based on years of experience and evidence based research. She responded promptly to every text or phone call and never made me feel that I was a bother or that my concerns were invalid. She facilitated all lab work and prenatal testing and contacted me personally with my results. As a first time mom myself, Cori made sure I was fully prepared to give birth. My delivery day was like a dream. It was everything I wanted it to be -- in the comfort and safety of home, surrounded by my closest loved ones.
