Quite a fun weekend in Eau Claire and Metropolis definitely played a role! We enjoyed our time and our little one loved the water park. It was clean, spacious and the lazy river was a big hit. Location is about 10 minutes from downtown which makes it quite accessible to other touristy places. We'd love to come back next time and try the go kart and other activities. Fun waterpark for the kids. Not so busy and packed like the Dells and close to Twin Cities. No lines for water slides and lots of tubes for lazy river. Mexican restaurant in walking distant across the parking lot. Pizza on site. Arcade area had enough variety and there's even go karts. Rooms were clean and love that there was option of 3 queen beds in one room. There is a fridge, microwave and tv. For the price, I would highly recommend. We stayed around the Christmas Holdiay in 2025 and had a great time. The MEMORY FOAM beds were probably the most comfortable beds, I've EVER slept on., let alone in a hotel. Of course there were lots of kids, and early in the am, and you need money to really enjoy it fully, but it was super clean, friendly and the atmosphere was grand. Only thing I would suggest, GET ANOTHER ELEVATOR. took forever waiting for the ONLY elevator in the place. read more

I used to bring my daughter to this resort since she was little. Hotel with indoor Waterpark and arcade plus activities outside. You can see this resort from the highway. Water park is good size with 2 big slides, lazy river, hot tub and kiddie area. There's a cafe that serves pizza and cocktails. Otherwise the arcade has a restaurant and dairy queen. The rooms has different themes and size to accommodate guests. Once in a while they have deals online. I would recommend checking this place out if you ha e little ones. read more

There were 9 of us that just stayed here this weekend, driving home now (3/17/2024). The water park was fun, the kids had a blast. There was lots of tables and chairs available however not much room for walking around the area because of so many tables and chairs. The arcade had a good variety but was expensive for play time. They also had a trampoline park, laser tag, bumper cars, go carts and a few other activities. If you are staying just for a weekend you really need to pick either the waterproof or a day play pass for the kids. There wasn't enough time for our kids to fully enjoy both. We tried to do the water irk for half the day then we bought them a 5 hour play pass and they didn't have enough time they felt. We grabbed snacks from the little place in the arcade area, food was fine. Then we ate dinner at City Eats restaurant next to the go carts, food was not very good. As for our hotel room, ugh, the worst. Now I'll clarify, the room was clean. We had a fridge, microwave and little table. The bed was absolutely terrible and the pillows even worse. The temperature in the room we couldn't get to even out and the furnace was very loud. After 2 nights of terrible sleep between constantly waking up when the heat would kick on or off and trying to get comfortable on the bed I am completely sore. If we go back we will buy day passes and stay elsewhere, hopefully more comfortable. read more

Pros: - The rooms are very clean - The water park has a lot of different features for kids of all ages; shallow for tots, deeper for bigger kids, a lazy river, and two water slides - There were coupons for food that made dining fast, cheap, and easy - The addition of the trampoline park was nice to break up the water park (though it is pricey) - The lifeguards and hotel staff were super friendly and helpful - Complimentary coffee - Comfortable beds Cons: - We were on the first floor and faced the parking lot. The curtains left something to be desired and it was constantly "light" in our room no matter how we tried to block it out. - The pool/trampoline park don't open until 9am. With young kids who were awake at 5:30, this meant a lot of sitting in our room just waiting which got to be really frustrating. - The pool, while very clean, was really chilly. The air was even cold, so when you popped out of the water, you're immediately covered in goosebumps and wishing for a sauna. Made it challenging to stay as long as we wanted. - The TVs don't allow for a fire-stick to be used and only allowed for Netflix login. This might not be a big deal for some, but our Disney-loving-boys were hankering for some "Cars" at 6am while we waited. Just having the ability to use our own fire stick would have been a really nice perk. read more

Our first time here was very small and lazy river was. nasty I was going to go in and see corn floating on by and water was merky, so ya stayed out. It was taking months to fix an overcharge before I arrived that I was reaching out to the staff almost two times a week and at times no response. Before we arrived, I sent an email joking with the staff that they would be so annoyed with me that they would put me in the "bad room". We had two rooms. Both smelt horrible. My room had items left in the room from the prior guest and no soap. I called the front desk the lady said "I can move you" then laughed at me. (I wasn't going to move with kids after that) later I found out she laughs when she is nervous???? I know these bad rooms were intentional. If it wasn't, they would have checked the room after I sent the email to make sure it was ok. I stuck it out and left, still waiting for my credit that was way overdue. I had emailed the GM of the hotel @samanthaHoltz and the GM of the resort @saraabbott many times in hopes to get this fixed. No response at all. The last conversation I told one person that they should just apologize, and he said, "well I am sorry you had an experience you didn't like." It makes me sad because we had gone there many years and we were hoping this could be a tradition for many more years. It makes me even more sad that the leadership wouldn't even want to hear what happened. I wonder if @volumeone would still consider @saraabbott innkeeper of the year. read more

2/10 for the hotel based on a horrible nights sleep. It's March in Wisconsin, the high temp Monday 59 and our room is blasting the AC full force. When you try to shut it off it proceeds to click constantly. After having to move rooms 2x because of this issue in the 3rd room we decided not to touch it and just freeeeeze. Staff was good about moving us but made zero effort to fix the issue, said it's a known issue and they don't have maintenance that works evenings. We went to Walmart to buy extra blankets to have warm blankets in addition to our sweatshirts and sweatpants to stay warm. If you like your room freezing cold, I hope you also love sleeping on concrete, because that's how firm the beds are. Not only are they as firm as possible, THEY ARE ON METAL PLATFORMS SURROUNDED BY METAL FOOT BOARDS...what does this mean? Constant GONG songs anytime you accidentally move too much (2 of the 3 rooms the beds would GONG just by moving your legs) or touch your feet to the boards along the entire base of the bed. Pillows are flat as can be, with it being just one night we didn't pack our own but we definitely regretted that decision. Waterpark is definitely smaller than it appears in photos and perfect for kids 12 and under, although 1 water slide is pitch dark and fast which is fun for older people (our 8yr old was scared doing it alone but good with ridding double, it's a tube slide). Other slide everyone got stuck, from our 54lb 8yr old, 102lb 13yr old, and us adults, you have to push yourself to get through multiple spots but it's great for young kids who don't mind scooting around and like long but slowww slides. Positives, the water temp and air temp were nice, not cold. The lazy river has a decent current and smoooooth floor so you don't scrape your feet or knees since it is shallow. None of the areas are more than 4 feet deep. Life jackets are available to borrow. Very nice shallow play area for young kids that connects to 4 foot pool via a in water walkway. The "double hot tub" is pretty small for a water park, 10-12 people fill it up. Spent a couple hours day 1 at the pool and the rest of the time switching rooms . Day 2 spent at action city, it's $50 per person so a significant cost but it's so much fun, just plan for that extra cost. Definitely book the action city when booking the room, it's the same cost as in person BUT you get $25 worth of ticket games on a game card per person (non ticket games are included with the all play pass but ticket games are not, so you use the $25 on the card to play those). Our kids LOVED action city, we were there 9am to 4pm, they could have stayed longer but we had a 3+ hour drive home and school tomorrow so we had to get going. Our kids definitely want to return but I value a good night sleep...day passes without staying at the hotel are absurdly over priced so we wouldn't recommend playing without staying overnight...they really need different beds/pillows, and to fix their heaters! read more

I brought my granddaughter to the resort for a 2 night stay, She discovered our room was full of black, biting ants, After informing the front desk, the best answer they had was handing us a can of bug killer to spray our room with, basically told we can leave or live with it. read more

Money pit hotel and attractions. They have reasonable hotel room cost, but that's about it. Everything else is super overpriced and not very well maintained. Water park had chemical residue over everything, we watch a life guard while doing a drill and it was a joke. They had a dummy kid in the water(for about 15 min before noticed) the lifeguard blew his whistle, laughed and walked like it was nothing. I work in place with lots of drills for safety/fires and there is a reason you should act as if they are real. Manager just said good job and walked away. The lifeguards aren't to save you there, just to meet requirements . All the games and attractions are way overpriced, $10 for a small bag of popcorn or $6 for a sucker(normal size) with scorpion design in it. Best to stay away and not waste your money. read more

Stayed overnight for work. Didn't use the waterpark. It's fine. Nothing fancy. Clean. My room had a small kitchenette and a decent size bathroom. It is right next to the freeway, but it wasn't loud. My room overlooked the freeway, a self storage, and a mini golf course. Not a great view so I kept the blinds closed for privacy. read more

This time things weren't as good...the 3 rooms around us with many small children decided to stay up ALL night talking in the hall! yelling, running back and forth to rooms banging the doors. The breakfast ran out of coffee and cereal very early and there was only one guy running around trying to help. Lastly, no longer a fan setting that stays on constantly. We still love the waterpark, but will ask for 2nd floor next time? read more

This is a great place for families with older kids that can be hard to entertain. My 14, 17 and 21-year-old all had a great 24 hours of fun at Metropolis. Their fav was the trampoline park. Everyone was sore the next day because of the exercise. They also loved the climbing wall, go carts and the virtual reality game. Laser tag and mini bowling were also fun. I made everyone go down the two slides in the water park but this was not designed for bigger kids. My advice, however, is to not get the big package like we did since we didn't do everything we paid for. read more

This is some of the friendliest staff I have ever encountered!! Open during Covid with all the attractions available. Wristbands for the waterpark included in your stay. Tube water slide, water slide, lazy river, hot tub, pool with ropes over lily pads, a huge pool area with dumping buckets and slides for little ones. Newly painted and renovated recently. Small cafe with snow-cones, beer, and small snacks. A beautiful seating area with bonfire pit and brand new playground outside. We got the bunk bed suite with two beds suspended from the ceilings with a ladder between. The kids had a blast! Free WiFi and USB ports. Paid a little extra for late checkout till 2pm. There is a restaurant in the building with a full bar but I wasn't wow'd by the food. Action City theme park is attached and that place is epic!!! read more

I was so pleasantly surprised here! First of all THE STAFF! I'm not sure why, but, everyone really seems to like working here! really?! everyone was so friendly and helpful, the bar prices are really reasonable? Order breakfast from the bar in the morning! Great! and the fish and chips were great as well! Drinks are nice and strong! Pizza from the pizza place is really reasonable and good! I'm actually surprised how reasonable things were? like, laundry detergent for example, it was a buck! they could totally take advantage of you and charge more! The lay out of the room was perfect! had everything we needed! and I'm not sure what I was expecting, but, our room was so CLEAN! you can see yourself in the faucet handles, I know that's what you should expect, but, how often does it happen? The Room attendants were totally young too? There's a whole lot to do here! so plan accordingly, I think you can spend a whole day here and keep the kids very occupied! water park is ok? not huge, no big old pool, but, you can hangout in the lazy river, oh, the life guards were so ON IT! I never saw them save anybody or anything, but, man they watch the water like their little brothers and sisters are swimming there! I got a real sense they GIVE A CRAP! and pay attention! read more

It was really meh, the only reason I gave it 2 stars was due to its price, about half the price of a resort in the dells. Obviously the Dells have much bigger operations but Metropolis is in very bad repair, paint pealing up in the water attractions everywhere. One of the worst things is the pile of smokers at the front door where they put the ashtray, really! When I mentioned it to the manager she said "can't move the smokers because that's where the ashtray is at" really! Move the freaking ashtray, duh! Key card didn't work when we got to our room, one of the employees was asking if we had a problem, instead of fixing it, she told us to fix it by going back to the front desk. Other than that the staff was friendly. But not worth the money! read more

Pros: Clean. New. They attempted to be green. Cons: Individually each of the design elements isn't bad, but combined they're a catastrophe. The rooms are long and narrow, painted entirely steel grey, with a small window at the end and CFC bulbs in the rest of the room, which all combines to create the feel of a prison. The signage on the outside isn't helpful (we didn't know where to park to check into the hotel). I'm not sure if it is just our room or endemic of the whole hotel, but our room never really got warm despite what we set the thermostat to. Also, the shower's energy efficient head felt like we were showering under a garden sprinkling can. And the backed up water in the tub (and sink) was annoying. The wall safe in our room didn't work and when we called down, we were told they didn't have anyone on staff who knew how to fix it. The staff appears to be either high school or college students with few exceptions. The "free breakfast" was located in Action City (attached to the hotel) and was very poorly laid out. The waffles were in one space, the cereal was across the large room, the coffee & orange juice were off to the other side. Typical "free breakfast" food: powdered eggs, biscuits and gravy, waffles, breads, etc. The deal breaker for the whole thing was that it was in the middle of the arcade, so the cacophony of video games was deafening. It definitely didn't make for an enjoyable breakfast. What's odd is the restaurant space in the hotel was empty, seemed like a much more appropriate space than the middle of an arcade. We had hoped to find a place where we could relax and our son could get out his pent up energy. Unfortunately we won't return. If we do decide to return to Chaos, the water park that is attached to the hotel, we'll find a different hotel in which to stay. read more

Action City is a top notch arcade experience, well over 1/2 the video games are free, when you factor in the go-karts, mini bowling, bumper cars, mini-golf and laser tag... you'll be pretty hard pressed to get that much value & action for the same amount of money anywhere else. The water park is quite simply for small children. The water slides are not good, the pool is tiny and the chlorine is overwhelming, we actually did not spend a minute in the pool area at a recent 2-day stay. Staff is very friendly, Sara at the front desk when above and beyond her duties, to the point we're composing and sending an email to the manager regarding her amazing customer attentiveness. When you stay, definitely try the pizza from Monkey in the Middle, it's pricey, but well worth it. read more

Where do I even begin. I was so excited to go here mainly because I wanted to have a blast in the water park. Normally we would stay at the dells but we decided to be different and stay at this "resort", if you would even call this a resort. When we got into the hotel, we wanted to take a peek at the water park to see how amazing it really was from the website. They wouldn't let us see!! So we had to take a wild guess and pay $100 a night in doubt. When we did get the room. It was alright I guess but the beds were stiff and I got bad vibes from the room. And I never get bad vibes. We decided to go down to the water park later on. I was so excited, jumping out of my pants. When we got down there, my brother was the most excited about the "Double hot tub", we couldn't find it after a while but when we did it wasn't anything close to a "double" hot tub. AND it was closed because of someone's kid. So the one night that we had to go to the water park, we couldn't even go in the damn hot tub. REALLY METROPOLIS?! You couldn't get someone to go and fix it when people were literally asking several times. Then the water park was small and mainly for kids. There was barely any adult swims and I was pretty upset. We left the water park in disbelief and upset and decided to play some games at the arcade. WHEN I got down there, I was looking all over for the best game ever: Stacker. Did they have it? No. Ofc course they don't. I was pretty upset, I didn't even get to play as much because there were kids everywhere. No adult supervision. I also got scammed at the claw machines. If you are planning on playing quality and easy games, this place isn't for you. After a while, I gave up and we went down to the trampoline park. I was excited because a lot of my time was wasted at this resort. And I love trampolines. But when we went down there, THERE WERE TONS of children and they were all hogging the dodge hall things. Not to mention; it was $60 dollars for a freaking day pass!! Come on not everyone is rich. Poor people can't have fun?!?! I was so upset. I will never be back here again. We had a bachelorette party there and rented out the vegas suite. The suite was clean. The tv's were small and not located very well through out the suite. There was only one elevator that the guests and staff used. We had to wait a long time to get on the elevator and when we did it was always packed with carts and staff. I have recently contacted the resort trying to have them release my credit card from a pending tranaction for holding the room. It has been 4 days and still a pending transaction. This resort is awesome, I like the design. The fact that it's connected to the Chaos Waterpark and action city (didn't go to action city) were very nice! The rooms were very nice and offed plenty of space, comfortable beds, and plenty of bang for your buck. The water park is fun and only wished they had a full size pool. Prices are reasonable all around. They also have a bar which is a necessity for those of age. The only thing I didn't like was the breakfast. Food was cold and stale by 9am, they were out of coffee and it took a while before they replenished what was out. You can make your own waffles though, which was cool. Overall I would suggest this place if you're passing through and need a place to stay, or are looking for a cheap enough water park! read more

I was super impressed. We booked the room on kayak about an hour before check-in, so we got a good rate. The room was clean, beds were super comfortable and it reminded us of a very classy hotel we stayed at in Germany. The water park was clean, well staffed and enjoyable. Booked 2 standard rooms which were clean and lovely..we had a discount and it was easily upgraded for a Saturday..the water park was pristine..just perfect! We live in Eau Claire and this worked as a nice get away in celebration of my sons birthday..The staff was very friendly.. I have to give a shout out to TYLER who waited On us in the water park..he brought us food all the way to the tables we chose in the back.. His customer service was spot on! The life guards were on their game..a small child fell in and was abruptly grabbed by the diligent life guard..very impressed!!! Great stay will be back! read more

This water park is a dump staff was nice room was ok but the water park just a dump rusted equipment everything was dirty water looked cloudy waterpark layout was not good at all they make you sign a waver and omg I can see why do not take your eyes off your young kids many opritunitys for them to get hurt or dround hear as they can walk from the baby area to the deep pool via water path that slowly gets deeper , not good for very young kids or teens make sure you try to avoid this place just because of the water park. The rooms have not been well maintained and the cleanliness is subpar- below average. I encountered 3 rooms in a row with severely clogged drains. I also forgot a $100 bill in the room and when I realized and contacted the hotel I was told the manager would look into it and contact me. I called a few times over the course of 4 days and finally was able to connect with a manger that informed me that they never found the money. Watch your valuables because if you leave anything behind you most likely will never see it again. read more

Adequate, but could be terrifying If you like a clean living space. I stayed here while passing through on business and did not use the Waterpark. The common areas of the hotel were filthy and the elevator smelled like dirty socks. My room was tidy for the most part with only some visible grime in the corners of the bathroom. One review I read said there was a great breakfast here -- this is no longer the case. This was a very skimpy continental breakfast served in the closed down arcade area. Terrible. I would only stay here again if it was the cheapest hotel available at the time of booking. read more

I won a one night stay in the honeymoon suite of this resort, and I'm glad I didn't have to pay full price. First, the room: GORGEOUS. We stayed in the Paris Apartment. It was a lovely blue and green, the bathroom was decorated cute, and it was huge! This was two suite put together. One side had a glass dining table, two leather couches, a fireplace, a TV, a beautiful clothing chest and floor to ceiling mirror. In the adjoining open room was a california king four poster bed, a tv, a whirlpool hot tub, another tv, and another fireplace. It was awesome. Next to the hot tub was a champagne stand. This room also came standard with a fridge and microwave. Next, the waterpark. Kid-centered. There was no hot tub, and no general swimming area. There were two body slides and one tube slide, as well as a lazy river. The rest was kid toys that shot water. For someone in their twenties, it left much to be desired. Then, the arcade. This was actually pretty fun. They have go-karts (which are slow-karts), bumper cars, laser tag, bowling, batting cages, tons of games and some actually decent prizes. They also have a DQ and snack bar in there. There is no alcohol allowed in here, which is a bummer since it is allowed in the less-fun pool area.... Service. This is the kicker for me. While the room is beautiful, I can't imagine having your honeymoon here. The only restaurant in the whole 'resort' is called "The Pub". As a veg-head, obviously pub food isn't the best option. It's small and cramped. Maybe their actual pub food is good, but the salads were not. We wanted champagne and everyone seemed shocked by the request. Finally they said they'd go out and buy us a bottle. The only room service is from the pub, or a pizza place in the arcade. Surprised by that. There is no "hotel channel" on the tv by which to order movies or explain anything. In fact, you cannot order movies at all. They provided breakfast on Sunday which was eggs, breakfast potatoes, monkey bread and biscuits/sausage gravy, that wasn't bad. All over the place they advertised $4 Bloodies all day Sunday, so we were stoked to spend our entire sunday sucking down tomatoey goodness in the pub. We were very disappointed to see that they opened at FOUR PM! WAYYYY after checkout. It seems like a fun enough place to bring the offspring, but as an adult, there's not much here for you. read more

My husband and I travel a lot and liked the looks of the Metropolis Resort... it was right off the highway and featured cool looking guest accommodations. I booked on hotels.com a full day in advance and received a confirmation number. When we arrived at the front desk around 8:30pm local time, we were told they had been expecting us... They had over booked and had secured a room for us at a Holiday Inn. There's a few things wrong with this... they had my cell phone number and they obviously knew we were out of a room so why didn't they call?! Also, how did I get a confirmation number for an overbooking? this isn't the airline industry! As the charge on my credit card came from Hotels.com, I called them to dispute the charge. Hotels.com then called the Metropolis Resort and ask for a refund. The clerk at the front desk said they didn't know how to process a refund and that we would have to call back when there was a manager on duty. I suspect the Metropolis Resort was hoping we would be a no-show and they could keep the cash- neither we nor Hotels.com would be the wiser. Finally, the Holiday Inn we were relegated to had us in a cheaper room than we had paid for at the Metropolis and there was a Fraternity/Sorority event scheduled with drinking and partying in the hall outside our room. I took my daughter and 3 of her friends here for only one night for her 12th birthday party From what I thought I heard about this place I thought that it would be a good place to take them. I reserved a 2 bedroom suite for us and was excited to start our stay. Within about an hour of check-in the girls went down to swim and I was finishing putting things away. I was running water in the different rooms and good sized bugs started crawling out ALL over. It was completely disgusting. I went down to the front desk and told them what had happened, even showed them a bug I was able to catch. They moved me to another suite and I had to get things packed and repacked before the girls came back up. They asked why we moved and told them that the room started to flood from a sink not shutting off. I was NOT able to enjoy myself because I kept looking EVERYWHERE in the room for bugs. I NEVER was able to sleep because I thought I felt stuff crawling on me. Worst experience ever! And to top it off we spent close to $1000 if not more. The hotel gave me a $50 refund! Seriously!
