I've been a patient at Metropolitan Dermatology for years and have consistently had an excellent experience with Albina. She is outstanding professional, articulate, and extremely knowledgeable. I have never had a bad experience with her, and she always takes the time to listen and explain things clearly. Her care is the reason I continue to return. That said, the office staff experience can be hit or miss. While some staff members are pleasant and helpful, others would benefit from additional training in customer service. On more than one occasion, I've experienced rudeness and felt spoken over, which detracts from an otherwise high-quality medical practice. Albina's clinical care is exceptional, and with improvement in customer service consistency with the office staff, this practice could truly be excellent across the board. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. I went for a consultation for a facial treatment. I was told by a representative of Metropolitan Dermatology that the fee for the consultation was 75 dollars since it was not medical. Today, March 31 the facility at Victory Blvd in Staten Island NY. told me I had to see a doctor prior to getting a facial consultation which cost 175 dollars. I left cause apparently I was being told different info from the office staff. Since I left confused my husband called the office. He asked why I needed to see a doctor before I even decided to use their facial services. The lady said that's the procedure. I traveled from the South part of Staten Island in traffic to the North based on bad information given . Why would I need to see doctor if I haven't decided on doing a facial yet. It's almost like doing pre operation exams at a hospital before you deciding whether to do surgery and I believe there is something wrong with it. I view it as a scam and I sincerely believe it is that. ANYONE who decides to use this originization to do a facial and is forced to she doctor first before deciding on even doing a facial should get their head checked first read more

I saw Dr.Maydan on 6/5/2025 for the excision of a cyst between my shoulders. I explained that I was concerned about two things, the administration of the local anesthetic and pain control after. That my experience has been that doctors don't fully appreciate pain after a procedure and downplay the need for anything other than OTC medications. I explained that I am not able to take nsaids. She repeatedly told me it would not be an issue she doesn't prescribe anything and that I would be fine. People don't have a problem. Well anything could not have been further than the truth. It was very painful once the local anesthetic wore off and extra strength Tylenol didn't cut it. I found my self having to take Advil along with the Tylenol which only took the edge off and had a horrible night's sleep. The only thing she was truthful about was her ability to administer the local in a way that was not bothersome. it is unthinkable that a physician will cut into your skin, remove something, then stitch you up and the ink that it is a minor thing that doesn't require adequate pain relief. The only reason why I gave two stars is because she was able to properly administer the anesthetic in a way that was truly minimally uncomfortable. Perhaps if doctors had to personally deal with the after effects of their procedures, they would not be so quick to dismiss what comes after. I would certainly not return since no care is given what you feel when YOU GO HOME. Think twice, your comfort once you go home will be discounted! read more

I guess i got unlucky as place has stellar reviews - all other doctors are. Had opposite experience with Dr. Urbanek . Came as first time patient ( my dermatologist moved out of SI) for my annual exam. Dr. U. looked at my head and one shoulder , collected 2 samples and walked out of the exam room. I expressed to his assistant that i have some concerns with that and reminded that I was there for full body exam - she replied that Dr. would look at it next time as she is sure that i would need some removals.. Upon return home, asked my family looked at tested areas and they unanimously said that they don't see anything that stands out at all but they are not doctors. Few days later Dr. office called and said that they want to schedule the surgeries as labs were "questionable". Naturally I freaked out and Instead i went to see two other dermatologists one in SI and one in the city and both said that they have no concerns whatsoever! Make your own decision, but also read his reviews that unfortunately I found afterwards. read more

Dr. Matthew Rosanno is a genius. He really takes the time to listen to ALL of your concerns, which I find to be very rare now-a-days. I randomly started getting terrible acne 2 years ago. I was really discouraged after seeing a different dermatologist who prescribed me a medication that made my skin worse.. Dr. Rossano identified the root of the issue & a co-existing condition on my scalp without me even mentioning it. He prescribed me a whole skin/hair regimen & my skin is totally back to normal. He is extremely knowledgeable. On my second visit I mentioned a condition I have & Dr. Rossano prescribed me a medication to help until I am able to see the rheumatologist. I could not be happier! I highly recommend Dr. Rossano. His assistant is also super informative & kind! It is such a pleasurable experience at Metropolitan Dermatology. read more

I've visited the office for years whenever any dermatological issues come up and have been seen by Matthew Rossano, PA. Matt has been extremely thorough in his examinations and in his ability to address any skin or nail problems on the spot. He doesn't waste any time and I trust him immensely. I'm sure their services were really great, but they want a $75 consultation fee even to price out how much an underarm hair removal package would be. I think that is ridiculous. At least give me a non-binding range of prices. I'm not going to pay you to tell me it will be too expensive for me. I went to my appointment at Metropolitan Dermatology today. I was great by Bianca and she sat with me and we talked while waiting to see Albina. I went to have a dry spot on my face that I thought was suspicious. Of course nothing to worry about. She removed a small cyst on my cheek I could have left it. Before I got off the table I had to remive my shirt to be checked out. There was something Albina didnt like she took a biopsy and if anything Albina can fix it and SHE will. When I arrived at the office I was very worried about a skin problem. From the minute I arrived I was treated in a very friendly and calming manner. The ladies at the desk who check you in are very pleasant. They don't have you waiting to get called in. Usually called in office within 10 minutes. The doctors assistant is very nice. My teen daughter goes to Dr Jeremy and I always have to take my 2 year old with me. Everyone is the so sweet with him there. Dr Jeremy is always attentive and asks if I have any questions. Did they help with what I needed? Yes Was the service good? Most definitely not I made reservations online and wanted Albina the PA to be my provider but all reservations were booked until a month after. I've heard great things about her and my father used to come here and see her and she had such a great energy. I decided to quickly make an appointment with Brittni the NP the week after since it was the earliest availability. The first time I came in, the lady at the front desk was very nice. Once I was able to speak to Brittni about what has been going on, I got the vibe that she really did not want to be there. Although she helped me with my problem, it would have been great if she was more welcoming. The second time I came I decided that I had to have Albina. I was able to call in and make an appointment with her and was told that they were no longer going to accept United Health care starting the beginning of April 2022. Once I entered the building, the lady that checked me in was extremely rude. She looked as if she has been there for awhile as she was teaching another lady at the front desk but yikes... what a great role model. Once I was brought to the office, I was happy to see that Albina had a much better energy and is way more friendly than the previous provider I had. I was happy to get my procedure done by her and I don't feel too bad about them not accepting my insurance anymore. I never had the best experience ever so I'm glad that I won't be coming again. read more

Went in a Saturday morning and had no problem with parking even though the lot is small. Street parking is available too. The reception area is well set-up and you're greeted right away. After a short wait in reception, it's off to the exam room and a quick chat with the MA. The PA, Matthew Rossano, came in and was friendly. He examined me and discussed the situation and explained the medication he was going to order. He also reassured me that it was a generic and wouldn't be expensive. The MA said I could use a discount card which would help with the cost. Both the PA and the MA were friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this dermatology office and Matthew Rossano. read more

I am so pleased with this office. They're staff is polite, professional and I was able to get a same day appointment. I was so appreciative because although a wart removal on the sole of my foot is not an emergency it is when you want to dance at your son's wedding in 5 days! BTW they were unaware of the wedding at the time I made the appointment. While there we discussed future concerns and I look forward to future appointments. I visited Metro Derm, on 01/16/24, with a referral from my Pvt. Dr for a Dr. Kubinek. After waiting for 45 mins to be seen, Urbanek entered the exam room w/ paperwork belonging to a cancer patient. The nurse immediately corrected him and showed him my paperwork. Urbanek approached to examine my flesh colored, flush to my skin minuscule skin tags and asked "what do you use on your skin"? I replied and he then turn to face the nurse and went into this out of space speech about oils. He then came closer to me and stated these are cysts. I said, No no! Urbanek immediately now standing 8"-10" from my face wearing a dirty white N95 Mask, shouted "Im the Dr., I'll tell you what they are"! I raised my hand placing it between my and his face and stated, "Don't you speak to me that way or in that tone". Urbanek backed up, as if I snapped him out of his stupor. He then turned to the nurse reciting several codes, asking her "what code can we put this in so we can get it approved"? The nurse kinda hunched her shoulders and didn't respond. The nurse and I both looked at each other as he began pacing back and forth mumbling to himself. I stated, I've had the zapping procedure done in the past. Urbanek replied passively, I can cut and biopsy them, then zap them to prove to you they are cysts. I stated you are not cutting me at all, I called the office and was told you do the zapping procedure. Urbanek turned and in a loud threatening tone once again and stated, "They don't no anything"! I replied again, I've had the zapping procedure done in the past by my Dr. whose retired. Urbanek then screamed "then go back to that Dr". I replied, so I wasted my morning and co-pay to come here for you to scream and misdiagnose me. Urbanek then screamed "I'll give you back your money", turned opened the door slamming it as he exited. The nurse and I both looked at each other in shock and shook our heads as she apologized. When I returned back to the front reception area, Urbanek was on the other side of the desk trying to make excuses to the admin person. The woman at the front desk also apologized while handing me my cash co-pay. I requested the 4 page documentation I filled and she refused stating, it has to stay in our system. I'm awaiting my attorneys reply, to let me know if that is legal. My Metro Derm obviously know this guy is to old to practice medicine. Urbanek posts a photo of himself from 50 years ago. He's looks every bit of 90, maybe that's why he asked what do I use on my skin, since I have no wrinkles and he skin is like Shar-Pei Dog's skin. He's misogynistic, incompetent and very disrespectful and should retire now before he's sued. BEWARE and never allow someone posing as a Dr. disrespect you or anyone else in that matter. read more

I scheduled an appointment to have a rash assessed on my neck and was given a flyer suggesting lotion for my legs. I may give it another try, however I would visit with the doctor instead. I'm completely disturbed at the PAs disregard for patients. I should not be responsible for paying for such a lousy visit. She has an easy job if you ask me.
