They're on point when it comes to wellness as well. Staff are knowledgeable (I was there and heard one on the phone with an owner whose dog went into heat for the 1st time and needed to be talked off the ledge) and compassionate. Dr. Fitzpatrick and the rest of the staff are caring and knowledgeable. We have always been able to get in relatively quickly, especially if there is an emergency. They have gone out of their way to help us, once staying open a couple minutes past their closing time for us, and also helped save us money on medications by searching their donation medications when we've had meds prescribed. Their prices are reasonable, especially for vet care which seems to be ridiculously expensive these days, and they have helped us make decisions that have both saved us money & time when it came to our dogs care. Our dogs are our family and we feel comfortable having them in Beaver Lake's care.

This was confirmed when we saw how many thank you cards, plaques, and other mementos they had hanging up from current and former "patients". Our cat is NOT a fan of the vet due to his blindness, so we were immediately impressed when the staff put is in a quiet room to wait as opposed to the general waiting room where you have dogs barking, cats hissing, and the general zoo-like nature of a veterinary waiting room. the appointments are usually running on time and they get you in and out. We are currently patients of Dr Jamie Hopper who is phenomenal! She has helped so much with educating us on the best care for our little guy. They have an adjacent surgery and emergency center so if you ever need help, they have the capabilities to handle it. I would not look anywhere else if you need animal care in Central New York.

She is sensitive to prescription vet diets but will tolerate a non-prescription urinary tract diet we give her: when she can eat. Our family brought her to several vets who made various efforts to help her, such as a prescription stomach medicine that helps with nausea and stimulates appetite, to no avail. Because, our fur-baby is also sensitive to certain traditional meds and methods. Dr. Cortes immediately pinpointed what Jemima needed, a series of injections to be repeated periodically as needed. Her appetite is terrific afterward, and it has lasted sometimes for 4 months. In addition: this is a human being who loves animals. Animals are his life. He lives, breathes and interacts with them as though they were his own. They are. His knowledge is matched with his keen instincts and skilled decision-making. I highly recommend him, yes, even to people who may have to travel some extra miles to get to him. Well worth the effort.
