If I could give Village Veterinary 6 stars, I would. When we were looking for a new vet for our blind cat after moving, we asked for recommendations and perused Google looking for any spots that came highly regarded. After all, who wants to take their furry pal to a 2nd rate spot? After talking to some locals and seeing some reviews, it was clear that Village Veterinary was our spot. This was confirmed when we saw how many thank you cards, plaques, and other mementos they had hanging up from current and former "patients". Our cat is NOT a fan of the vet due to his blindness, so we were immediately impressed when the staff put is in a quiet room to wait as opposed to the general waiting room where you have dogs barking, cats hissing, and the general zoo-like nature of a veterinary waiting room. the appointments are usually running on time and they get you in and out. We are currently patients of Dr Jamie Hopper who is phenomenal! She has helped so much with educating us on the best care for our little guy. They have an adjacent surgery and emergency center so if you ever need help, they have the capabilities to handle it. I would not look anywhere else if you need animal care in Central New York. read more

I took my beloved Frankie to this vet the day before mothers day and she was determined to euthanize him as soon.as we walked in. She claimed that he had cancer. She was euthanasiaing another at the same time. It seemed that she was trying to make money for her company. She was extremely unprofessional. The other girls in the office were very kind. I would never recommend this "hospital" to anyone. I am so sorry that we didn't take him to his original vet. read more

We brought our 9 month old puppy to get spayed. We thought she was getting great care at first as they were calling us the day of to update us and they called us early the next day to pick her up. When we came to pick her up, the attending brought her out with diarrhea all over her back end and near the area she had surgery. There was so much that it transferred all over myself, my husband, and the walls and floor. The attending apologized and stated that it just happened when she was in the crate and it is normal after surgery for them to have diarrhea. She gave me a towel to clean myself up with, some pee pads, and ushered us to the exit.......I had to go back into the VVH to complain to the manager and the manager brough our dog back in to VHH be cleaned up by herself. The manager apologized, which I was appreciate of. She told me that the staff was making excused when she brought this situation to their attention and they stated that it had just happened before they brought out our dog to us. Regardless of when it happened it should have been addressed. If the VVH staff didn't care enough to take 5 minutes to clean our dog up before bringing her out to us to go home, who really knows what our animals care was like during the two days she was with them pre and post surgery? This is neglectful and down right lazy behavior VVH staff. Our dog is a member of our family. To see someone treating a member of our family like that is disgusting. Though many of our friend and family member have been taking their animals to VVH for many years, I am afraid this maybe our last visit to village veterinary hospital. read more

I forgot my dogs pills needed for travel and was over a holiday weekend. They were amazing to get with my hometown vet and get a prescription for me. They were life savers. Would recommend them to anyone anytime!!! read more

As you can tell from my photo I am a standard poodle. What you can't tell is that I am fussy, prissy girl (yes to many people that is what a poodle is). Nevertheless, my two dads take me to Village Vet Hospital, we have to go a long way in the box with wheels (translation car) and it makes me anxious and my brother (he is a standard poodle too) is no help. I arrive all verklempt (oh did a tell you poodles are really german in origin - you probably thought we were French) - but the nice two-footers (translation - people) at VVH calm me right down and make me feel relaxed. I am getting a little older - a girl never tells her age - so we are coming more often but I always leave feeling better than when I arrived. Tell you parents to bring you here - they will take the best care of you. But don't bring your brother - because he will try to steal all the cookies. read more

We first took our beloved dog there for a second opinion after a very negative experience with another vet. Several friends, also dog owners and a breeder, recommended this office. We didn't know who we were going to see as it was set up as an emergency appointment. We were so delighted to meet Dr. Hopper. Immediately, I felt overwhelming confidence. Our dog had suffered a long seizure. I watched her get down on the floor and check the 12 cranial nerves on our dog. She followed that with a complete general examination. Wow; I was impressed. She ordered appropriate follow-up. When she had to inform us of abnormal lab work; she did it herself. She again ordered the appropriate follow-up. When we learned the terrible news that our dog was very sick; she was so kind and empathetic. She personally followed up with phone calls several times. Luckily, our dog has survived longer than expected; but had an "sick episode" a few weeks ago. We called the office that morning and were given an appointment that day. We again we so impressed by another vet in this office, Dr. Brown. She did the appropriate assessment, ordered the appropriate meds and gave us great information. She also called for a personal follow-up as to our dogs condition. I am so impressed by these vets. I wish I could give 100 stars to this practice. And, they also do their OWN "on call" after hours and weekends. Most vets in our area do not take call; they refer to a large impersonal group in Syracuse. read more

I have been taking my cats, (from little kittens to elderly care), for many years to the Village Veterinary Hospital. I could not be more pleased with the care they have received. They handle every situation with the utmost attention and kindness. The office is run efficiently, is clean and laid out very thoughtfully. The office staff are very friendly and courteous. Dr Hopper had treated my Rottweiler from 2016-2020. My dog was diagnosed with a seizure disorder. He was prescribed multiple medications that did not control his seizures. I discussed my concerns with Dr. Hopper and she gave me advice, which I followed. Our relationship decompensated and she accused me of not following her medical advice. She also refused to communicate with me by phone and requested only written communication. I attempted to communicate and she would not respond. At that point, I took him to a new vet. I requested his medical records from Dr. Hopper to give to the new vet. Upon review of his medical records, it was apparent that I did in fact follow her medical direction. His new veterinarian felt that he needed a neurological consult which he then scheduled. Sadly, he didn't survive long enough to make the consult appointment. I feel that her lack of concern contributed to my dog's death. If I could give 0 stars I would. read more

DO NOT call them for an after hours emergency if you are not a regular client. My dog had a bleeding gash on his chest. They are 10 minutes from my house. Would much preferred to go there than drive 40 minutes to the all night emergency animal clinic. I was told because it was before 8pm, they would accept us even though they are not our regular vet and the vet would call me. An hour later I called to inquire as to how long a call back usually took. I spoke to someone else and was informed that they don't have to accept me and don't have to call me back and it was a vet tech, not a vet. Answering service did agree to put the call through again. SHE called me back and said the tech spoke to the vet and they decided not to see us. Guess this is why they are not my regular vet! 10 staples and 3 hours later, my dog is home. read more
