All activities are scheduled so don't forget to check the ODU web site before venturing over. From the pool to the locker rooms everything is kept neat and clean. There is ample parking here but it may be a short walk to the facility. There is so much to see and do at the SRC. There is always a practice, or game happening. I'm not sure if there's a parking lot near this place but I just park at the garage where the parking office is, it should be a 5-10 min walk(Walking with friends talking gossip stuff maybe 20 mins lol). The check-in process was fast, for first-timers, you'll have to go to the desl and they'll show you how to register, as I remember you have to put your hands on the check-in thing 3 times then you're good to go. Well they'll teach you. After that you just have to punch in your UIN then put your hands on the check-in thing then you're good to go. I didn't have time to use the machines but they look amazing and new, and there is a big variety of machines. There's also a track on the secomd floor for people to jog. And there's a swimming pool, a climbing wall(not always open, look for the schedule online), many rooms for classes(some of them are free, look for them online), squash rackets etc. There's a place where you can rent all the equipment to play, I came here to play basketball so I rent a basketball, and it is a Nike. The reason I took one star off is because of the basketball court. Although it is huge and I like how they put a thing to block the farthest court so the intense games on the other side won't worry about us the chill people having our ball rolling into their court, the floor is slippery, which means it is dirty. The floor is also weird because the ball won't bounce back, I guess they are some cheap materials. Overall, it is a good recreation center to workout, especially it's free for students so you cannot ask for more.

After just a few months I have seen results in terms of my flexibility, control and strength that I have not seen with any of my other training. I am now able to do things I couldn't even dream of doing even as a teen. The studio is super cute too! She worked with me slowly at first to figure out what muscles were tight or loose, how to balance the imbalances, and then helped me with my strength and flexibility. She worked with me at the pace my back would allow. Now, my core is so much stronger, my whole body is more toned, and I look forward to every class and training session. Everlea is kind but firm, her exercises are varied and challenging, and my body feels so much improved.

As a first timer walking into Norfolk's Club Pilates Cardio Sculpt class, I wasn't sure what to expect. I had only done the free intro class last week, so I guess the class was going to do, maybe a little reformer work, some light stretching, nothing too crazy! Baaaby! SPOILER :Mama got a FULL body, heart pumpin', sweat drippin', muscle shakin' workout tuhday!! What surprised me most was how seamless the class blended traditional Pilates movements with cardio burst, like leg circles, jumping lunges, squats, and core-cardio sculpting!!! What?! Yes! My abs, arms, and glutes, are still talking about it. Despite being a newbie, I never felt lost. Pam, the instructor, offered mods and checked on me and others often. Everyone in the room was sweating, smiling and breathing. lol. I'll be back!! Take advantage of a free class. You'll be hooked like I was!

The facility itself is very clean, the instructors were pretty good (shannon was my fave!), but as the studio grew in popularity classes became impossible to come by unless you scheduled them a month in advance. I ended up wasting credits due to not being able to find classes that fit my schedule. I also never was able to progress past a level 1 class even after going to 3 or more classes a week for a year. I had previously done traditional mat Pilates in my 20's and had faster growth with that than with reformer Pilates. I hope they can either open another studio in Norfolk or expand the current studio to accommodate all their clients. More weekend classes and evening classes would work really well for those with traditional job schedules.

I'm not done with my trial yet, but even after one week, I've already seen a lot of progress in my body. On day one, I was a little lost. Came in a little intimidated BUT Tara was so welcoming and helpful. Obviously you have to ease slowly into working out again if your body isn't used to it, but every coach gives you different moderations of the circuit workouts so that you don't hurt yourself. They listen to your needs and prior injuries and health concerns to make sure you're not straining yourself, but still working hard to get that workout done! What's most important to them is that you're moving. You don't have to go too hard if you can't, they're just proud that you even took the step of showing up! There's a different kind of workout each day of the week that concentrates on different sections of the body or the workout technique of the day from cardio to leg day to arm day to athletic training, etc. It is a little pricey for a membership, but if you can squeeze it into your budget, I definitely think it's worth it. You can tell in your every day movements that burn has been helping. I'm breathing better during any other physical activities (like going up the stairs lol you can't tell me that you don't try to hide your breath going up some stairs sometimes. I'm usually winded, but the other day, I CHOSE to go up the stairs instead of the elevator. Who am I??), I'm getting up without grunting, I'm choosing better for my bodily health. It's so nice! Each workout runs about 45 mins so you are in and out! Such a great stress reliever! Our head trainer Lauren is amazing and has positive energy!Burn has a great vibe and everyone is so friendly. It's a little on the pricey side but it's so worth it ! It's located in a good area and easy to get to. The gym is clean and organized, following CDC guideline!

I happen to be partial to Alex (my amazing trainer) but everyone of the trainers and staff are extremely warm and welcoming, making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in. I was impressed to learn there are no "beginner" trainers here. They each have a background in fitness and are experienced and educated in their field. They take clients at all ages and levels of fitness, but if you're just starting out, like me, this is the place to come. There is absolutely no judgement or reason to be self conscious. They take you "as is" and are eager to craft a personalized workout, according to your goals, history, abilities and any health concerns your dealing with. They take the time to understand your unique needs and abilities. I love how Alex is able to explain the mechanics of a movement and that he's very focused on correct form, in order to get the most out of an exercise and avoid injury. He makes my workouts challenging, but also reigns me in when I get too eager to take on more than I'm ready for. Another plus that impressed me is the effort they make to take care of clients practical needs- showers, towels, soaps, shampoo, etc. They've even offered a stretch lab and a sound bath experience since I've been here, free to clients, both of which I really enjoyed.
