This was some of the best pasta I've ever had. We went one night and ordered a pizza, then had to come back the next night so we could order the pasta. The seafood tagliatelle was our favorite. Mezzaluna pizza was burnt around the edges, paper thin in the center, wet with fluids from fresh cut, undrained tomatoes leaking underneath to the paper-thin crust, cheese not melted enough to loose its grated shape, heavy on cheap ingredients & sparse on fancy. No salt, oregano, basil or garlic for seasoning - quite bland. I'm glad it was fairly cheap or it would've been highly irritating. How do you burn pizza yet not melt the cheese?: Ingredients are layered improperly. Inside reeks of old beer, outside was very pleasant & excellent people watching if you can get a seat. One of my favorite places in Baja so far. I've been there about 3 times and will go back again before leaving Baja ! Even brought friends who also loved it and went many times. If you're vegan and you're craving pizza ... this is the spot ! They also have many other Italian options that can be made vegan too like pastas, etc. I've tried several of their pizza options and all of them have been so delicious and very filling given the size. My husband whose not vegan really enjoyed their empanadas. He's tried both their pepperoni empanadas and their salami. And he can't stop talking about how good they are. I wanted to try one of their empanadas that can be made vegan, but they didn't have them. Bummer ! Next time for sure. The pizza was more than enough for me tho ! The staff is very friendly. Drinks are slightly overpriced (especially for beer) but the house margaritas are only about $6USD. I will be back !! read more

First time visiting and it will not be my last. The menu is small, but rewarding. Pizza and lasagne were excellent. We tried the empanadas and they were good but not great. We came to this venue since it had a green V sticker, which I thought it indicate they're vegan/vegetarian friendly. It was so, and they ended up having many vegan/vegetarian options. Make sure to say you want it to be vegan; they will definitely accommodate. They even have vegan cheese. I ordered a personal pizza and it's was really well made and just the right size. I added their chimichurri sauce on top...so good. The freshly made bread with the chimichurri sauce was delightful, and was offered as an appetizer, everyone love it. Unfortunately, on our second visit, the service lacked and my pizza was burned to a crisp. So food quality doesn't seem to be consistent. Everything seems to be homemade or at least very fresh. The downsides, were the flies and the fact that they were never open on time. No one seemed to care about posted opening or closing times in this town. 4 on food 3 on service 3 on convenience (being open when they say they are open. OMGSH... Vegan Heaven in Loreto!! I was Soo surprised to see actual Vegan selections...that's hard to come by in most places.. let alone a major carnivore enviornment! For a mix of Italian and Mexican, you need to visit Mezzaluna, right in the heart of the Historical District. The sauce options for the pasta is varied, as are the pizza toppings. Went here for dinner Sunday night and had the whole restaurant to ourselves. I wouldn't expect that to happen on a Friday or Saturday night, or even when it's high season here in Loreto. We sat outside as it was way too hot and uncomfortable to sit inside. Don't know if they had or didn't have AC. Ordered a pitcher of limonada minerale, loved the option of that but I would have to say the taste fell way down compared to other limonadas we've drank in Loreto. For dinner, I had the tagliatelle ragú allá bolognese with my date ordering spaghetti carbonara. Both were quite yummy and delightful. My date liked that his carbonara didn't have the peas and egg as one often gets in the US. The bolognese took me by surprise as it wasn't what I was expecting - my fault, not theirs. The menu did say ragú and not bolognese singularly. The sauce was a wonderful mixture of carrots, mushrooms and cubes beef, no hamburger meat here! One thing missing for us was no Parmesan for the pasta. That won't keep us from going back and sampling more of their menu. Gotta give this place a try, people! You won't regret it...well, at least, I hope not! Ooohhhh, AND if you are a vegetarian and/or vegan, they have menu choices for you! How many restaurants in Mexico can you say that about?? read more

I really liked this place. As far as the establishment itself, it's quaint and cozy. My wife and I were very hungry when we arrived. We asked for some bread while our entrees were prepared and, to our disappointment, they had none. Now, the food was good. I had the lasagna. This is a really cute restaurant in downtown Loreto just off the plaza. The staff are so kind and accommodating and immedietly make you feel welcome. They have ice cold beer, a decent wine selection and really really good brick oven baked pizzas and empanadas. Absolutely the best pasta restaurant in Baja Sur! Everything is made fresh daily and is so good! The service is amazing, the atmosphere is wonderful, nothing is better then a late after noon of drink and some tapas and finishing off with some pasta! If you are craving good old pizza or pasta this is probably one of the better restaurants in town to eat at, however I was craving a salad and it was delicious! This casual little restaurant is affordable, the portions are quite generous and they have a nice variety. The waitress was quick, friendly and spoke English. The food we had was very good, and the reason I give them four stars instead of five is because they were a little inconsistent with what they had available or possibly with what they communicated about what they had available. I asked empanadas and was told by our waiter that they didn't offer them at dinner. So I ordered tagliatelle with pesto and my husband ordered the pizza with artichoke hearts and other veggies (and maybe goat cheese or ricotta?). We both ordered white wine. Everything was delicious. But when we asked some new friends from our inn to join us, the waitress who recognized them and came over to take their order gave them the card with the daily specials. We were never shown those, which would have been nice, and they included empanadas. Not a big deal, but that's part of why I'm not giving five stars. Also, the last night of our trip, we wanted pasta, but we're told that they weren't serving pasta that night, only pizzas and salad. That's a pretty big part of their menu to omit, so between the two issues with menu availability, I felt like four stars made sense. The food that we had was delicious, and the location is easy-- right in the middle of town. Wine was freshly opened and good, and they had Argentinian and Chilean wines. Please note that days listed on here are wrong. At least when we were in Loreto, it was open Tuesday and closed Wednesday. read more

Hmmmm... not sure why this place has such high reviews. Came here with my partner on Thursday night- very busy, people waiting to be seated so understandable that service would be quite slow but ultimately, I'm not sure the food is worth such subpar service. We arrived around 6:25 pm- one of the waitresses came to provide us with the menu but then did not return for about 20-25 mins to place our order for both drinks and food. Once she returned, we placed our order, and we then waited about 10mins for our drinks to be brought to our table, and I kid you not, over an hour for our food to arrive. This was also not a coincidence, because the two tables next to us also waited more than 45 mins for their food to arrive. Oddly enough, our order was not brought out completely after the 45 mins- We ordered a salad to share and a pizza for myself, and my partner still had to wait over 15 mins for their pasta to arrive. We had to ask the waitress to check in on the pasta, and she seemed completely nonchalant about the fact that we had been waiting over an hour for our complete order to arrive. Overall, in my experience, although the pizza and pasta were tasty, I'm not sure the crappy service was worth it. Also, I ordered one margarita and was charged for two- the waitress then took an additional amount of time to fix/adjust our receipt. If you come here, come with a lot of patience because it will take a lot of time for the waiters to take your order and check in on you, and then even more time for the food to arrive. read more

Food. Empanadas are good. Fresh baked, nice. The "Homero" empanadas are quite tasty. Fungi and chicken are ok. This place gets two out of five because we did not get to the rest of out order. Service. To the owner - you need to do something about your staff. (Well at least the waiter who I reference below). They appear to be ruining a nice spot. As a business owner I do not like to see it happening to someone else. Here is what happened: We walked in and a waiter told us to sit. He appeared to be completely out of it. (O tenía la peor resaca del mundo o estaba borracho todavía. I'm not exaggerating.) After a significant period he came over and took drink orders, only problem is he only took one order and walked away right in the middle of things. Plain weird. After the shock - I mean the just guy turned around and left- I had to chase him down again to come and take the other orders. He looked like he was tweaking on something. We ordered at 12:20. The empanadas got there sometime after 1:30. But this was not the main course! We were with children and the fries we ordered for them got there a bit later. After another ridiculous amount of time we had to cancel the order and leave. So service, bad. No, very very very bad. Also, the same waiter who asked us to sit locked the door of the restaurant and began turning other customers away. Again, weird. I mean if the place is closed don't sit people, much less take their order. Oh BTW we were the only customers in the place. Ambiance. Nice looking, nicely decorated restaurant. It's inviting and has that South American feel. Could be that we were there for lunch and dinner is the time to be there. Still the service was so poor that it ruins the experience completely. Cleanliness. Bathroom was impeccable and had some very cool decor. A+. We had flies come in for a while, but I'm assuming it was because the windows were open. The place is clean. Again, service ruins it all - it was just so weird.... Would I return? Most probably not. Would I recommend it? Take a look before you walk in and see if there is service. If there is go for the empanadas. Can't lose with them. read more

My wife and I went here for pizza the other night. It was so good, we ordered another to go for the next day. Tonight we decided to go back and try their pasta. My wife had the ravioli with pomodoro sauce and I had the gnocchi with Genovese sauce. Both were hot, fresh and extremely flavorful! The chef here is on par with some of the best chefs back home in Las Vegas. All of the pastas and sauces are obviously made in house and cooked to order. Do yourself and your tastebuds a favor and don't pass on the opportunity to try Mezzalunu when you visit Loreto. read more

We stumbled across this place while aimlessly walking around Loreto. The sign for empanadas pulled us in, since my wife and I became empanada lovers in Argentina. We order 3 of the baked ones and 2 of the sweet caramel ones. All of them were great! They were made fresh from scratch, so we had to wait after we ordered. As the day was beautiful and we had sat outside, we did not mind just relaxing and watching life pass by on the corner. When the empanadas came, they were piping hot and delicious! It was a great find in such a small town and I'll definitely come back if I find myself in Loreto again. The waiter was also fantastic and a huge help. He was very friendly and spoke fluent English (as he was from the San Fernando Valley). Definitely a recommendation and an easy walk from the malecon. Keep in mind, though, that this a cash-only place, so leave the credit cards at home. read more
