It's the best way to get some calories burned while jamming out to some great music. As long as your moving you're doing it right is the motto they profess so don't be scared to cut loose and groove. Be aware that they don't take any breaks but if you need to stop feel free. Classes are held in the school cafeteria. It's very easy to find. The dance moves are very easy to catch onto. I danced with Erica and some of the other ladies of the Jam CLT when they were with another company and it felt like home to be with these ladies again. They do some of the same dance moves from before and they have some new choreography to new songs. The musical selection ranges from Hip Hop to R and B to Pop to Country to Broadway all in one class. You are guaranteed to leave with a new favorite dance move or song!!! Thank you Erica Butler and the amazing women of The Jam CLT for keeping exercise fun in the Queen City!!!! I am so glad they formed this company and will continue the phenomenal work they do.

**There are 4 locations in the Charlotte area, check IG for more!**…read more Divadance is so different from anything I've ever experienced and is truly transforming my life. I promise this review is not sponsored in any way, I just have a full heart of gratitude for how amazing it has been to be free and have fun with movement again I moved to Charlotte during Covid and it was hard to make friends. Even without that, it just seems like it's a little hard to find your people coming to such a big city. I didn't want my only community surrounded around my work and I'm not really huge on bars, etc. I really loved dance as a kid and got away from it for various reasons: feeling out of place physically, time, money, not wanting to commit to learning technique all the time and just life in general. One of my friends introduced me to Divadance and I could tell after her first class how empowered she felt. My first class was awesome - I went to the Fort Mill location and Julia S was the instructor that day. (SO encouraging and fun). I am naturally an introvert but the community time where we chat for a minute has become one of my favorite things. I love that we're all different sizes, cultures, ages - it's really such a beautiful thing to be a part of! For my fellow introverts or future friends that like to google street view the parking situation (IYKYK) - here are more details... You arrive to the location and you're greeted in, class begins with community time where we have an icebreaker to chat for a minute about. It's super casual! Then there's a warmup and we start to learn the moves together. Everyone there is learning the moves along with you at the same time and having fun. We laugh a lot. Come as you are! Come comfy in workout clothes or come as dressed up as you want! Each location is truly a judgement free environment and I've never felt more comfortable or supported around so many women. It's really a special place to be. There is a part at the end that is completely optional to record the choreography and I SO recommend doing this, even if you just keep it to yourself! I'm learning a lot about my body language, mobility and confidence through those. It's a great, fun workout too. This year I've lost over 20 lbs and I am definitely giving credit to the addition of Divadance in my life to this! It's a great sweat, but I'm finding more confidence through each class and I'm showing up different in other areas of my life. A real game changer for mental health and I think it's great for my mind to try and learn something new even if the moves aren't perfect! It's truly been a blessing to join this community. Kari is absolutely amazing - All of the instructors are fabulous and each location has something special and different to it. I joined as a member and love trying different locations based on my schedule but you can get passes or drop in. If any of this resonated with you - take it as your sign to come try a class! Check social media for the class schedule and locations (also an app!). See you soon, friend!

Today I attended the bloc. party free sweat class and boy did I sweat!…read more Walking into bloc. I had no idea what to expect but I was very excited for the workout. Liz the co-founder welcomed me and was very pleasant, she asked if it was my first time and registered my information. Afterwards she took me on a tour of the facility, I must say I loved how they decorated this place! It's not your typical gym at all. Very clean, green, white and cooper! So refreshing. Afterwards I joined the everyone that had arrived for the Friday fitness class. The music was great and the sun was shining bright through the 5 large windows. The class was intense, but just the push I needed! I typically am not much of a sweater no matter how hard I workout. But today that wasn't the case lol, our instructor pushed us but made sure it we went at our own pace. No weights, 100% body workout, you against your body. One of the guys in the class said, "I usually run about 5 miles a day, and this doesn't compare this was intense but I liked it!" Another person said she wasn't sure what to expect but watching everyone else work hard pushed her harder. Overall I throughly enjoyed bloc. and plan to return for another workout next Friday!

I came to Jamie's 6AM Primal Fitness class - WOAH! That'll really wake you up in the morning…read more The space is GORGEOUS! There is a living plant wall right when you walk in. You are greeted by the sweet girl at the front and she gave us a brief tour of the space. There is a large workout room, cubbies to store your belongings a stretch area and a co-working space. Bloc isn't the type of place where you go to work out, talk to no one, and leave. They really are working hard to instill the importance in community. They offer free summit coffee for these needed a cup. They want you to stay around, hang out and enjoy the space. That was a really cool and really awesome new concept for me. Coming from DC and NY all the exercise places are machines built to get you in and get you out fast. They aren't meant for hanging out and mingling. I really like this about Bloc! The work out was TOUGH. My girl friends and I went together and we all work out with a trainer and couldn't believe how great the workout was. It was set into 5 "stations", 3-4 rounds, done in an EMOM (every minute on the minute) timing. We did body weight exercises, conditioning, cardio, and boxing. Talk about a total body workout! Jamie was really sweet too - and an amazing trainer. She really worked the room to build up the energy and provide support. I will definitely be back!

As you read this...Keep the fact that this facility is the most expensive gym membership…read moreanywhere...and especially Charlotte. Also this is meant to provide constructive feedback in hopes that management/area director and leadership at Lifetime read this- finally these are constant grievances of mine, others on this feed and I have been a member for more than 3 years. Additionally, I've experienced the brand new top shelf Lifetime in Cary NC...world of difference in service, equipment (of course new) , AND true spa like feel in the men's locker room...down to lockers have 'bumpers' on them so when they are shut they are quiet. 1. NOISE! Men's spa area is so loud I have to wear airbuds to escape the constant yammering of others in the steam and sauna. 2. Tired Equipment and in consistent amenities- I joined for the quality of equipment and mainly access to steam and dry sauna- Equipment is worn out...bikes, cable machines, benches, accessories for gym equipment in general need replacement. Machines sit dormant waiting for repair often...and Steam room is constantly inconsistent and temperatures in dry sauna are below recommended temps. Did I also mention how LOUD it is in the 'Quiet Area.' 3. Towel service is 1 STAR....and unacceptable. Last night and many days/nights the shelves in the locker area are bare with NO TOWELS....I literally had to walk the locker room to find a clean towel to dry off with. 4. Family Friendly. YES! It should be...but now that school/college is on summer break the gym experience is fraught with kids being kids.. from locker room to gym floors...absolute chaos... 5. Showers- The entire shower area is a mess a lot of the time, but especially last night....walk into a shower and someone left towels inside stall....No attendants cleaning up or restocking towels...counters full of water, etc. NOT A PREMIUM EXPERIENCE! I truly enjoy investing in my health and consider Lifetime a splurge in my budget....BUT I continually leave shaking my head at the level of service...quality...and inconsistency....even the 'simple things' from a staff person, like Have a good night...hope you had a nice workout. It would be nice to have persons on the floor assisting 'newbies' with workout tips or offering assistance in using the equipment.

I recently moved from Denver, CO and joined Charlotte Athletic Club primarily for the location and…read morewalkability to Uptown. From signup through cancellation, the experience was consistently poor. The signup process was unnecessarily difficult. You cannot sign up online or over the phone and must come in person. I arrived during hours I was told a manager would be present, only to find they had left early, requiring an additional visit to complete enrollment. The gym charges $150 per month per person, with additional costs for lockers, an extra month (extra $150) due on signup, and a facility improvement fee every six months. Despite the price, there is no coat rack or place to store even a jacket. Communication is "you must pay an extra amount for lockers each month" even though lockers are framed as an optional amenity. Charging for lockers in the first place is grubby. Every gym I've attended in the past includes them for free. Pool access is advertised. The pool is actually pool access passes included in membership to the Omni Hotel pool, we were told it was to be opened fall 2025, it has remained closed. This was communicated after signup. The equipment itself is fine, but there is no water bottle refill station, and the water available specifically says "don't fill your water bottle up". It's a gym. Who wants to use a small paper open top cup when working out. Bathrooms are often not clean. If you're coming in in the afternoon for workouts, the gym maintenance and cleaning happens then, so expect some vacuuming and hammering happening most days. But my primary issue is the staff experience relative to the price point. Front desk staff are often disengaged. A trainer instructed us to re rack weights that we didn't use. When we told him they were there before we used the machine he communicated "clean them up anyways". I rack weights when done using them. For $150 a month, if another gym member leaves weights behind, and this is noticed by the staff, I'd expect gym staff to care for the cleanup of other members weights left behind. And especially the first time, just unnecessarily hostile and unfriendly. There are many more similar interactions like this with staff. After I canceled my membership and requested my wife's remain active, a manager approached her requesting credit card information, the implication being "don't forget to pay" in a way that felt inappropriate. This is acceptable at a lower priced gym. Again, it's not what I expect at this price point. This is a premium priced gym with a good location and adequate equipment, but the service level does not match. I'm switching to another gym in the area.

Curious as to why there's a lack of transparency on the membership rates not posted in the website…read more Instead they want you to fill out a contact form....
