We ordered the croquettes and burrata. The croquettes were nicely crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The burrata was fresh and came with tomato, olives, and some arugula. For the main dishes we both had steak. I went with the sirloin and my friend went with the skirt steak. Both were cooked perfectly and tender. The servers spoke English which greatly helped with the wonderful experience we had for dinner. The meal was decently priced.

As I sat down, another guy who worked nearby grabbed a seat at the next table and declared that this was some of the best steak in Barcelona. He even said he'd buy meat raw from this place and take it home to cook it. Hell of a recommendation. I ordered the solomillo (sirloin) "poco hecho," which I guess is supposed to be medium rare. The steak was more raw than that, but I didn't care. It was tender and juicy and flavorful. The salt on my platter provided a little extra punch whenever I needed it. The steak came with half a potato, but, unaware of that, I also ordered patatas bravas. Really not the best patatas bravas I've had in Spain, but it's easy to forgive that. The local I spoke to said he recommended the lomo alto, so I'll try that next time. If you want a killer high-quality steak prepared with love, you can get it at La Tavernícola. And as a bonus, it came out quite fast. I'll be back.

Delicious! Funky atmosphere! Good prices! Nice staff. Wonderful Vermut!…read moreI would recommend this place for groups of friends. It has that sort of pre-partying vibe. Came here with 3 others on a lazy Saturday evening for an early dinner. We had a dog with us and the guy invited us right in! There isn't a terrace or back patio, not sure if they always allow dogs or just because they weren't too busy. Our group was ready to eat but unfortunately the kitchen wasn't open for another hour. After speaking with our server (who also seemed like he could be the owner or manager), he said we could order some things for a pica pica (small bites to share) while the kitchen was opening. I've worked in the food industry and this was very kind of them to accommodate us, especially since we were so early. So we started off with a round of housemade Vermouths (vermuts), nachos with guac, and fries with cheese sauce and bacon. Holy guacamole- YUM!! Guac hit the spot, the nachos really were just tortilla chips, the bacon cheese fries were addicting! I've never had a better cheese sauce, usually I strongly dislike them but this one was perfectly balanced in flavor. Oh I'm dreaming about those cheese fries and crispy bacon! Okay, maybe they were so amazing because of our hunger from beaching all day, but still they were tasty. I would say those two appetizers split amongst four people were perfectly portioned. Also we all agreed that their Vermuts were the best we've had in Barcelona. Not too sweet, flavored nicely and garnished with orange and olive. They were 2 or 2.50 each. For our main meals we ordered two portions of the "Parillada para dos personas". This was a board of assorted grilled Argentinian meats including 3 types of steaks and 2 types of sausages. It also came with fries which were seasoned perfectly with some sort of spice/herb blend. The meat board was accompanied by two sauces: a garlic aioli and a chimichurri. SO, so good!!! The meat was cooked a juicy medium to medium rare, very distinct flavors but all so delicious! There was plenty of food. I think the price was about 24 or 26 euros per meat board. I suppose you could split the parillada among three people but it splits really nicely for two. Our waiter was awesome! I would not describe him as friendly at all, but he took care of us and made us feel welcome. I would return in a heartbeat. -- Update-- This place is still awesome. Great service, you can tell the staff actually care about the place and watch out for little details. Bacon cheese fries are still a must. Their other drinks are delicious! Caipirinhas, daiquiris, etc.

When in Europe eat some Italian food, as you are close enough that someone is doing it right. It also breaks up the Spanish tapas for a minute. I made reservations via email in advance prior to my trip. They responded quickly and seamed happy to take them, as they do book up. It was totally worth it, as the Raviolo with mushroom, truffle, Parmesan, cream, and sausage was one of the best things we ate on our entire trip. Don't miss out on it. Papas Bravas - nicely served with two dipping sauces, one a little spicy, and the other a garlic sauce. Meatballs with Mozzarella and Tomato Sauce. This was served almost as a soup, with bread to dip in the sauce, or in our case we balanced the meatballs, cheese, and sauce on it. Cacio e Pepe - nice and cheesy served with fresh pappardelle. I liked the thicker noodles to soak up the tasty sauce. I noticed the table fighting over sharing this one, which is always a good sign. Carbonara - definitely made correctly here with egg yolk, if you are fan of classic carbonara, you'll like theirs. Served with thick fresh spaghetti noodles. Raviolo with Mushroom, Truffle, Parmesan, cream, and sausage. You can put this dish right next to anything you will eat in Spain (including those having Michelin stars) and it will hold its own. It's that good. Please do not miss this dish. If I'm ever back in Barcelona, I will return for this dish and to try other things on the menu.
