Paisano Bistro was our perfect lunch spot just around the corner from Sagrada Família, which we did in the morning. When in Europe eat some Italian food, as you are close enough that someone is doing it right. It also breaks up the Spanish tapas for a minute. I made reservations via email in advance prior to my trip. They responded quickly and seamed happy to take them, as they do book up. It was totally worth it, as the Raviolo with mushroom, truffle, Parmesan, cream, and sausage was one of the best things we ate on our entire trip. Don't miss out on it. Papas Bravas - nicely served with two dipping sauces, one a little spicy, and the other a garlic sauce. Meatballs with Mozzarella and Tomato Sauce. This was served almost as a soup, with bread to dip in the sauce, or in our case we balanced the meatballs, cheese, and sauce on it. Cacio e Pepe - nice and cheesy served with fresh pappardelle. I liked the thicker noodles to soak up the tasty sauce. I noticed the table fighting over sharing this one, which is always a good sign. Carbonara - definitely made correctly here with egg yolk, if you are fan of classic carbonara, you'll like theirs. Served with thick fresh spaghetti noodles. Raviolo with Mushroom, Truffle, Parmesan, cream, and sausage. You can put this dish right next to anything you will eat in Spain (including those having Michelin stars) and it will hold its own. It's that good. Please do not miss this dish. If I'm ever back in Barcelona, I will return for this dish and to try other things on the menu. read more

This place was amazing! We didn't have a reservation but were able to be seated but I recommend reserving a table since we saw a few people turned away after we sat since the restaurant was full. It is located very close to la Sagrada Família and we stopped by here after our tour there. The food was excellent. I had a pesto pasta with sundried tomato and cheese which I loved. The only thing good here was burrata with tomato appetizer. Most of problem is their red sauce which simply is one of the five worst I've had at any Italian restaurant worldwide, and they use it on everything. Pizzas are cheap for the size but simply mediocre. It's your typical tourist trap but almost every restaurant in this area is according to every local we spoke to. So just have low expectations and you'll be fine. Price for still water was most expensive per volume of any restaurant in the city we ate at but wine and beer are cheap. This is not an expensive meal. Just very mid quality and taste. If going I recommend share a burrata app then split a Margareta pizza and drink a couple small beers. That's a super cheap meal and you won't hate anything you eat. But you also won't put it on any favorites list. read more

A coworker found this place near La Sagrada Família using one of those other apps, but I'll forgive the transgression since it turned out fine :) We were greeted promptly, asked to be seated inside, and provided with menus and daily specials on "mini signboards," all in English. The place is pretty small and has a "little European cafe" feel. I know, shocking. We ordered one of their pizzas, a plate of fresh pasta with bolognese sauce and a veggie platter, all for sharing. The veggie platter is pricey, but comes with quite a lot of veggies. Still, it wasn't my favorite. The fresh pasta (tagliatelle, I believe it was) was fantastic: obviously freshly-made and cooked perfectly. The bread was warm and soft and the pizza was not what we expected, but was equally great. (Photo) I returned later in the week on my own and the place was packed. The server said I could have a table for about 70 minutes. This is a cute and cozy Italian restaurant that was recommended to me. The vegetarian pinsa romano was beautifully plated. I particularly enjoyed the ricotta cheese. However, it needed a bit more salt or other seasoning. On my last slice, I cut into something crunchy and pulled out a very small piece of egg shell. Despite this, I thought it was very good pizza. The aperol spritz was well made. It was refreshing and not boozy. I finished my meal with a cappuccino which was excellent. It was perfectly balanced with the steamed milk, espresso and foam. Paisano stands out as an exceptional Italian tapas bar. Came in at around 12:30 for lunch and they were completely booked. This seemed uncommon so we went ahead and scheduled a dinner reservation on a hunch. So glad we did For drinks, we ordered a bunch of bottled waters, a cold milk for our daughter, and the tropical sangria and traditional sangria (red). The milk and water were ice cold and the sangrias were refreshing and delicious! We also ordered a recommended glass of wine for pairing with one of our entrees, and an Aperol Spritz. Everything was refreshing and tasty. For entrees our kids had spaghetti, and couldn't finish it all but loved it. We ordered the octopus tapas item (baby octopus with olives in a tomato sauce) which was delicious. For entrees we went with the pastas since they seemed amazing. I'm a sucker for a proper carbonara, and when I saw they were using guanchale I had to give it a try. Hands down the best carbonara I've ever had. Sorry Italy, and sorry to myself who has spent hours perfecting this dish at home. We also got a pasta that had an amazing pesto with walnuts, lime, and burrata. This pasta was equally exceptional. When you visit Sagrada Familia, you must also go to Paisano Bistró. It is only a five minute walk away. The food is excellent. We started with a cheese, lettuce, and tomato salad. Followed up with salmon pizza and pasta with shrimp, cuttlefish, and mussels. Everything was delicious. The service was fast and friendly. The waitress made excellent recommendations. The Spanish beer was good also. It is a small restaurant so making a reservation is recommended. A very fun place to eat, drink, and have a great time. read more

What can I say? Such a fine discovery with Yelpers' help when we were hungry after visiting the Basilica de Sangrada Familia nearby! The staff was just so helpful in giving us a table outside even though they were busy, and I loved the outside ambiance anyway! The tropical Sangria was definitely different than your usual Sangrias, and it was soooo good! The burrata was light and refreshing, I could taste the crispness and sweetness of the tomato, and the cheese was just creamy and delicious. The Pappardelle was al-dente and the sauce was just magnificent (though I would have loved to have a little more of the sauce!). My friend got the Lasagna, and it was so cheesy and creamy as well! We had reservations for Basilica de Sagrada Familia today and wanted to grab some lunch nearby. I found Paisano Bistro on Yelp and it looked perfect. The first thing we were hit with was the smell of the fresh bread baking inside. We had to stop and take in the aroma for a bit. The cafe itself is so adorable. Small, but they have seating inside and out. I saw eggplant parmesan on the tapas menu. I can't pass up eggplant parmesan so I ordered that. I love that they made it a tapas so the portion is smaller. I have eaten a lot of eggplant parm in my life and I can say this one was a true standout. It was thinly sliced and cooked in stoneware with an amazing tomato sauce and some cheese. It came out bubbling. Once the eggplant was gone, I used the bread they provided to sop up that magical tomato sauce. This is a family run restaurant and our server (the son) told us this was his grandmother's recipe. She knows what is good. Their specialties are pinsas which is a blend of flour and fermented for 72 hours. It would definitely account for the entrancing aroma that brought us in. We both ordered pinsas. Mine was buffaletto and my daughter ordered nutella. The nutella was thickly spread over my daughter's and mine was covered with that addictive tomato sauce. Since we had the bread and eggplant prior to the pinsas, we couldn't get through the entire things. Our server asked if we wanted to take them with us. I told him we would love to but we were heading over to the Basilica and we couldn't. He was so nice that he boxed them up for us and kept them while we ran over to the Basilica and came back to pick them up. The Pizza was really the only five star item. Any dish with seafood had minimal fish and mostly noodles. The ambiance was nice and they were accommodating in terms of recommended reservations, which is a must as this place is tiny. Cons: The wait for the food took forever as the kitchen is tiny. Pasta should be fast, but it took nearly an hour. While the seating outside was nice, there were constantly people standing around us waiting for tables, so I'd recommend eating inside. The pasta has far too much sauce and this almost ruined the pasta dishes. They also brought bread out and tapas, but with the mains, which defeats the purpose of tapas. read more

Found this awesome location since we had just finished our tour at the Basílica De La Sagrada Família. We saw the great reviews submitted by other patrons of this family owned restaurant (many of which not only were praising of their food, service, and atmosphere, but were also recent indicating that many satisfied customers of theirs had just received wonderful service during their dining experience. We were served by Stefania who told us that her and her in-laws own the restaurant and they're all from Italy (Naples if I'm not mistaken). We ordered this awesome special which was a salad, which had olives and fresh mozzarella, and when paired with their fresh hot bread, made for a great starter for the four of us. Stefania was very nice, hospitable, and friendly. We also ordered their Diavola pizza (2 actually), their lasagna, and their eggplant Parmesan. All our food was served fresh, hot, and delicious! We continued to praise the staff for serving the best meal we've had since visiting Barcelona. We were then treated for some limoncello to top off our meal. Calling all foodies: please take a moment from your regular programming to put down the box of pasta and make your way to Paisano Bistró for one of the best Italian meals in Barcelona. I highly recommend this little bistro for excellent service and stellar Neapolitan food. We were in the mood for pasta one night after a full day of sightseeing and this place was a quick walk from our Airbnb. They have a small selection of tapas. We tried the tamino cheese in truffle sauce specked with bit of guanciale. Amazing. When we found out that they specialized in pinsas, we knew we had to try one. A plaque outside of the restaurant explains that a pinsa is made with wheat, rice, and soy flour that has been fermented for 72 hours. I read that this process and these ingredients are what make the prinsa airy, crunchy on the outside, and more digestible than regular pizza dough. We tried the Amalfi, topped with sliced tomatoes, anchovies, lemon peel, and dried garlic. Stupendous. Each of us ordered a house-made pasta. Between the three of us we tried the ravioli with mushrooms and truffle sauce, the ravioli with Gorgonzola with taleggio and nuts, and the pappardelle genovese de mar with a variety of seafood and onion. Each pasta stood on its own with a blend of scrumptious flavors perfectly complimenting the freshly-made pasta. At several points the owner came over to chat with us. He's passionate about Napoli and the food from the region. It shows in how he manages the house and discusses the quality of the food (and his dislike for those who don't appreciate a proper meal-haha!). At another time, the woman we can only assume was the cook came out and we complimented her on the meal. She said that that her pleasure was sharing her food and hearing that people loved it.
