Like many others, I have wanted to come here after seeing this location on a Mark Wiens video. About a month back, I would be in the area because of an NFL game and decided getting an early dinner was worth the trek. It did not disappoint. The birria tacos were almost like butter when you bit into them, and the consumme broth was tasty on its own. We ordered a plate of tacos (five) and then some birria tacos to split. We weren't too hungry but wanted to try this spot. The tacos have a little toppings bar that is covered up. You can load your tacos up with pico, salsa, and pickled onions and prep them to your liking. This spot is tucked into a strip mall but does offer a decent amount of parking. We did go at an unusual hour (4 p.m.), which didn't hurt our chances of the spot being busy or parking being limited. Upon entering, we were greeted by a man seated behind a counter and told that we should take a seat since we were dining in. I love the food! I live the horchata!! We ordered a tray that included: cuerito, carnitas, buche! So delicious!! I especially liked that the food was not super salty especially since my family usually doesn't eat salt. I do wish they made a spicy salsa, i tried them all and non were spicy or had anything special to it. If you order to go do not expect to get any side such as cilanto and onion or salsas. We ate at the restaurant and the staff was super nice! They made it fun and were super friendly and attentive. please note that this is a small fondita not really a restaurant to dine out with the whole fam since its pretty small. For example we had a total of 5 people and had to split between tables since we had toddler and the parents, plus my dad and I. This was fine for us since the service was good and the food was delicious. If you are a family of 4 or less you will be fine but note that it gets busy since they get a lot of people. It took them about 10 mins to bring out our order which is pretty good considering how busy they were both for indoor dining and to go orders. I recomend that if you get get it to go do it! Its cheaper as well but reminder that you dont get sides. The ambiance for me was great since we all enjoyed ourselves but its not a beautiful looking restaurant its a small business and they do have labels everywhere which to me is understandable. Guys people just dont know how to respect or do stuff so to me it makes sense. They make to go orders cheaper since this way people dont get salsas n cilantro so it's understandable. No need to get angry. With all respect to Jesus and his family today the service was not the best, I have been buying from them since way before they opened the restaurant and never disappointed Today I ordered the 2lb special (waited for about 25 minutes, I usually called in advance but today simply was no answer and I understand they're busy) I arrive home and from the beginning I knew something was off, I pulled the salsa containers and the bag of onion covered on lard, after that tortillas were almost cold, opened the beans container just to find out that they tasted spoiled and also some kind of white foam inside, carnitas unfortunately were not the way they usually are, bland taste and a little bit dry. If you want to eat a box of disappointment go here! The owner was nice and told us about other specials they had and handed the order with a smile. We got home the rice was horrible, it was hard and had an after taste. The beans were halfway filled and mostly bean water but good. The carnita mix was 80% cueritos with a few pieces of meat. Every time we try to come get tacos after work they are closed, It's say close at 6pm but at 5:35pm the door is locked and signs say closed. My husband is so disappointed, they need to change their time to 5:30pm instead of 6pm. read more

Do come here if you're astonishingly great at reading and following orders! The carnitas are juicy, not dry however not very savory either. The owner tho, TOXIC! From the moment you walk in there is signage. "Don't do this" "Don't touch this", "Don't do that!" To say this place is decorated in neon paper signage on what you can and can't do is an understatement. While we were there, someone came in to pick up an order, and needed more of the verdura and walked towards the back of the restaurant to grab some. The owner quickly and rudely peeked his head out and proceeded to scold the customer in front of a pretty full restaurant. "That stuff is for dine in only, put it down or I'll charge you!" It was very condescending and demeaning. I was in shock at the treatment. The owner is willing to lose customers over some cut up onions and cilantro. It is not that serious. At the risk of getting scolded, my boyfriend and I picked up our plates when we were done and walked near the trash. The owner of course had something to say, "You shouldn't have done that, let the waitress do their jobs. Since I was already in motion, I replied it's ok. "He said "don't". Carnitas mixtas are seriously the best I have ever had. Very tasty, flavor is great. Unfortunately if you want to eat in the restaurant everything will cost more. To go orders are less expensive. Just to let know I've met this place since way before it was an actual restaurant, food is very tasty only thing I've noticed is how pricing has been skyrocketing in this "new" establishment and the issue is that pricing is not even stamped in the menu. 1lb carnitas is $18.99 and 2 cups of Champurrado $7.99 each that is ridiculous, the drinks are almost double in price to what the "main" dish is. They have a hand written disclosure "Price is subject to change at any time" so be prepared to pay whatever they want on any giving day. Not a returning customer anymore. The food is decent, but the atmosphere is crowded. This place does mostly to-go orders and you can get a very good deal on a to-go meal that feeds a family for $29.99. If you choose to dine in, there are a few inside tables and 1 outdoor table. They cater to the local crowd and it's much easier if you speak Spanish. The Al pastor meat was better than the carnitas that they are known for. If you dine in, they charge you for water. They also only give you one small container for your entire table to get salsa or toppings from the salsa bar. You are supposed to get onions and cilantro for dine in from the salsa bar for your tacos and you only get one small little container to get the salsas or toppings for your whole table. It feels really cheap. 3 stars for food and 2 stars for the rest. read more

We kept seeing this pop up on social media.. "best carnitas in town" we had to check it out. It's a very small place like 5 tables or so.. weren't planning on sticking around due to covid but they are asking everyone to be masked up, they were wearing masks and gloves. We got the package of carnitas with rice and beans. You can have the carnitas purely meat or also with the fat I forgot what it was called but that is what we got. The meat was tender and flavorful and thinking about eating fat in my mind is gross but this is delicious! They had a few salsas the dark red to me lacked flavor, the green not sure what was in it but it's ok, there was also some type of salsas with carrots and idk if it was lime or vinegar not really sure but it was like an explosion of sour and hot I didn't care for it. The rice was fluffy but could use more flavor, the charro beans were spicy. The carnitas are something I would definitely go back for. read more

What a find! If you love pork, ( like I do) then this is the place to feast. My first time so I ordered a regular Carnitas taco. It comes as a huge pile of steaming pork on 2 street sized corn tortillas. ( they double up the tortillas so it can hold all that pork) Then I head to the fresh salsa bar and pile on some pico and grab a fresh lime slice. As I eat this delicious taco the tiny woman comes by and asks how I like it. I tell her it's amazing. ( It is! ) she asks if I have ever had the pork skin. I say no, so she quickly scurries back to the kitchen to grab a bite for me to try. Also delicious. Once I was done I immediately ordered another one. I will definitely be back. Mexi Pappa had it right! The best carnitas and Bria tacos I have had. Beans and rice were above average as well. I am from So. Cal. And have a great appreciation for great Mexican food. The bouchée was very flavorful and tender. The salsas were perfect. Delicious! Be sure to get you some carnitas mixta. The pork skin was also a flavor/texture bomb. I was at a conference in Phoenix with a colleague from Baltimore and he loved the food as well. It was his first time eating true carnitas. I can't wait to come back. By the way the staff is super cool and very helpful. They really care and offer advice on what to order and how to best enjoy the food. Don't miss out on the birria consume, it was delicious.
