Craving Mexican food, we decided to give this restaurant a try during our recent visit to Grayling. Cute downtown location. Festive atmosphere. Friendly and attentive waitstaff. Prices were reasonable. 5-stars in these areas. My husband and I are trying to eat low-carb so we chose the Molcajetes Mexicana bowl. Definitely enough for two. Peppers and onions are suited with a flavorful sauce and covered with a flat, thin square of steak and chicken, a skewer of shrimp, chorizo and a chunk of cheese. A side of beans and rice plus tortillas are included. Interesting combination of flavors and textures. It was piping hot and looked wonderful. The meat tended to be somewhat dry and flavorless on its own but was more flavorful when swirled with the other spices and vegetables. The chink of cheese just seemed weird. We rated this main a 4-star. We would definitely return to try some other entrees. Overall an enjoyable dining experience. read more

Steak in our meal was ice cold, asked if it was fresh made and was told yes, manager claimed it was fresh, until I insisted it tasted like week old microwaved steak. Then he admitted it was from the day before, which I found odd, they were closed the day before. We use to eat here once or twice a week, now we go rarely. I just left there. I had a wet burrito which was dripping wet with water filled with flavorless chicken. I also had a chicken taco with flavorless chicken. Driving home from Niagara Falls made our stop here in grayling and Located in a small down town street we decided to try some of their Mexican food. Must be new or newly moved because of the now open sign.. lol.. It was getting packed by 6:00 pm so we were glad we got there at 5:00. We were quickly seated by very friendly staff. We were asked if we wanted chips and salsa. (Note: it is not free, you get a order of very tasty thinner fresh made chips and a salsa and what looks like a small bowl of a Mexican Crema, not sure and didn't ask for $1.50) We did ask for another basket of chips and two salsa's and didn't get charged for those. Not sure if they forgot or what. Salsa was not spicy at all so luckily I bring my own heat to add, they only have cholula on the table. Hubby got the 5 enchilada plate said it was good I wasn't impressed when he gave me a bite of his beef enchilada, but I'm usually not a fan. Didn't like the flavor of the meat. What I had though was very VERY good (even hubby said he should have got that) three cheese enchiladas with caso on top covered in grilled onions, bell peppers and a healthy helping of pork roast CHUNKS on top, extra rice no beans.. WOWZER was that a tasty dish, I'm still thinking about it. The rice was typical. Never had a plate like this at any Mexican restaurant before, and we've been to a lot. And only $16.99. Never checked out their bathrooms, so can't say anything there, little lacking on floor clean up. Little small inside I think for a Mexican food place that I'm pretty sure is the only one in town so I'm figuring they are going to have to think about expanding a bit before long. By the time we left there were at least 5 families waiting to be seated. Their margaritas and other drinks seemed to be a hit as well. Like I said before, friendly service, quick to take orders and fast delivery on the food and very good at coming for refills of water and drinks and clearing plates. Impressed!!!! read more

Best I've had in a long time! I got the poblanos (chile rellanos) and deliciosa per their recommendation. I had a drink while waiting for carry out. I didn't check my order before leaving, but once I got to my destination 10 minutes away, I realized they didn't give me the rice, beans, guacamole salad, or the tortillas for either order. The chile rellanos are something I order if an establishment has them because they're my favorite and hands-down, these are the best I've had in a long time. The skirt steak and chicken with the deliciosa were nicely cooked, moist, and flavorfully seasoned! Food was just okay. To the people stating that it's very authentic, I would beg to differ. Cheese sauce??? It's just plain nasty. How about using Muenster cheese on your dishes not some cheese sauce that I have no idea what it is and isn't appetizing to the eye or tongue. My food came with guacamole and sour cream I received about a tablespoon of each which was ridiculous. Needed about 3x more at least. I've never in my life paid for the salsa and chips. While it's just $1.50, it's not the norm for Mexican restaurants. Here is something that the owners need to take heed and correct: The service was horrific. Waiter wasn't attentive and was pretty much absent the whole time. The restaurant only had a few tables with people and there was an abundance of staff, so there's no excuse. Be prepared to be nickle and dimed here. As soon as you are seated they tell you that there is a charge for chips and salsa. I ordered fish tacos which were barely warm. The sauce that the provided with the tacos was in a cup the a quarter, and the rice was cold. The furniture was old and very warn. It's a shame. I love Mexican food but not here. read more

This is cool that this place just opened Dec '24! Frendly meeting at door and sat immediately (in for early dinner). Since I didn't know this restaurant's reputation, we ordered appetizers. The Queso Fundido w/ chorizo (xtra) was excellent, the Guacamole app had no seasonings but was beautiful..I thought I was ordering a small bowl. The Pico de Gallo was not fresh, ie, it came from a fridge made day before. Disappointing. Ordered alacarte Tamale and Enchilada. Tamale was large w substantial pork. Enchilada was small. All would be good but instead of a traditional sauce on them, someone decided a pastey tomato sauce would be ok. NOT. OK...all good but not sure I'll be back for full plates/entrees. This place, IMO, is expensive. Napkins are chintzy, we're charged for usual gratuitous...spicier salsa and chips & salsa. Sad to pinch pennies. there. read more

Overall the food was pretty good, the chicken was juicy and the rice wasn't over it under done. The ambiance was like a traditional Mexican restaurant and was very clean and well set up. The service was ok-ish; the staff was super kind but you had to ask multiple times for things, dirty dishes were left on the plates, etc. After all it is northern Michigan and by the looks of the restaurant it is new, and I'm not expecting perfection. read more

If it survives, it is because it's the only game in town besides Taco Bell....which I actually prefer for the cost! One tip: Drive north a few miles and try the Frederic Inn. Also, Grayling desperately needs good restaurants new and old to thrive and last. 1. my daughters Pepperoni pizza came out with just cheese, and when i said it was supposed to have pepperoni on it, the server said "no" ... he came back (after everyone else's food was out) 9 minutes later with a different pizza, pepperon, different kind of cheese then the other one, the crust was super white, and half the pizza was still raw dough... 2. I had a coke to drink; the refill did not taste anything like the first coke, I was very confused on what I had the first time vs the 2nd time, chimichanga had 0 flavor... the beef was gross. salsa was about the only good thing... and whatever my refill drink was lol I don't recommend... just go to grayling restaurant they don't disappoint read more
