The atmosphere and service are outstanding, 10/10. The location is bright, the flowers on each table were perfectly done with splashes of matching color, the painted details on the chairs were beautiful, and everything was spotlessly clean. For $55 we got 2 horchatas, a small chips and salsa, shrimp taco meal, and the breakfast number 1. My daughter really enjoyed the homemade horchata, I like mine with a little more spice but it was very creamy, lightly sweet, and I would order again. Salsa was processed smoothly with very few pieces of veg if that's how you like it, the flavor was good, very mild. The chips were not homemade but also good for being the standard tortilla chip. The tacos are American style with flour tortillas, cheese, and sour cream which is not our preferred way to eat tacos so that's on us. If you like American style these were spot on. The rice was fantastic and the side of beans were pinto beans and not refried, also tasty but soupy. The scrambled eggs with carnitas were so oily that they were swimming in the bottom. Additionally the menu indicated they came with cheese and hash brown but mine was missing as can be seen in the photo (rectified immediately and kindly so absolutely not a complaint). The green salsa was minimal, would have preferred more as that was where the only real flavor came from. I wouldn't order again due to the oil. We may return and try again as the food was fresh, nicely cooked, the service was fantastic, and the place was spotless. We just like a little more authentic with perhaps different spice levels of salsa (little more spicy). read more

Ordered some take out, everything was absolutely delicious. I've saved the place for next time when we're in this area. The queso with chorizo was sooooo good! We got tacos al pastor and those were amazing as well, although next time I will ask for extra onions and cilantro, they were barely visible and | like a lot on my tacos. Got two chimichangas and nachos for take out. It was horrible !! Neither one of us got rice and beans with our food ! the chimichanga were pale white no Golden brown like it shows in the photos. Like they didn't even fry them! I got chicken. He got beef and both had zero flavor. Like boiled chicken, and unseasoned ground beef. Wow! This place has great food! Stopped in on our way up to Burt Lake. We ordered three meals; Birria Tacos, Mix Enchiladas and Verde Enchiladas. Everything was flavorful and delicious. Our snowbird Auntie who lives in Burt Lake can't wait to come back! Very reasonably priced, decent portions. The salsa was very fresh and the chips were warm. I didn't notice from the reviews that this is an order at the counter and deliver to your table place, as opposed to ordering from the table with a waitress. This is a review for two meals; for the first meal I got Street style tacos with chipotle chicken and carnitas. There were excellent. A 5 stars dinner. Then I went back the next night for the fish tacos, not so great, no flavors and the rice and beans were too salty. It didn't feel like the same restaurant. 2nd meal only deserved a 1 star. Upon entering, we were warmly greeted with a smile handed menus and told to sit wherever we liked. The decor is simple and clean. The furniture appears to be recently refurbished and was done with care and craftsmanship. However, the chairs, while eye pleasing, are not comfortable - they just weren't done to fit the adult human backside. I did not try the booth seating, but I noticed that we were the only customers sitting at a table and not in a booth. After perusing the extensive menu, the patrons have to visit the counter to place their orders and in the course of paying with a credit card - are prompted for a tip? The food is delivered to the table, and fountain drinks are self-serve. On to the meals... I ordered the steak enchiladas and my friend had the "Classic 3" consisting of chicken, beef, and cheese enchiladas. Both meals came with sides of rice and beans. We also ordered the large Chips & Salsa ($5.99) to share. The chips & salsa - very good with a flavorful, but not too spicy salsa. My steak enchiladas - The meat was tough, chewy and totally flavorless as if they had neglected to season the meat, and cooked it as fast as possible. BUT - the red sauce on/over the enchiladas was excellent. The rice, while colorful, was bland. The beans tasted like they came straight from a can. The salsa from the order of chips, helped to flavor the rest of the meal. My friend's meal was pretty much the same, except he stated that the chicken enchilada was very good. His beef enchilada - very finely ground beef - ground to near sawdust consistency. I would suggest to the owner that if they insist on using ground beef instead of shredded beef, that they use a coarse "chili" grind, and stay away from the grind that you can pour through a pasta strainer (this is a personal, texture preference). All of the food was served in/on paper trays or in foam cups. Utensils are plastic. 3 enchiladas in a paper tub are crowded almost on top of each other and not appetizing. (I spent quite a while in the food industry, and the one thing that I learned is that Presentation is Everything. As one Chef that I worked for stated - "You can get away with serving Alpo on Toast if you make it look good on the plate.") 100% disposable serviceware does not make the cut - at least for a Mexican sit-down establishment. It might be OK for the To-Go orders, or the King, Clown and the Colonel, but not in an establishment like this. Driving Suggestion: This place is located next to an Interstate off ramp. If you need to travel East from here, it is highly suggested that you turn right/West to the next light-controlled intersection (less than a block) and make a U-Turn. Attempting to go directly East from the parking lot can only be accomplished if the planets are in correct alignment and there is a Full Moon. IF you *do* happen to make the left turn successfully, be sure to stop on the way home and get a lottery ticket! read more

Kids quesadilla was larger than I expected and came with French fries. The skinny crispy kind, just like we like! $5.99 was not a bad price for the food. Street Tacos - corn tortillas tasted fresh and didn't break! That's the worst with street tacos when the shells break so quickly! I had the mango chicken chipotle and beef asada. The mango chicken chipotle was an awesome sweet yet tangy flavor that I haven't had before in Mexican food! The street tacos also had cucumbers on them which was new to me but delicious! Chipotle spicy chicken quesadilla grande was in fact muy grande!! Came with rice and beans and wow was the rice good! I can't stand bland eh rice that just is a filler on the plate, but this rice had flavor! We also had two hard tacos a la carte. They were full of shredded chicken, lettuce, tomato, cheese. So full in fact you could barely see the shells! The chicken was slightly dry for my son. It it tasted good to me! This place need some love so check them out! Found this place totally by chance. We were staying in the hotel next door and were looking for dinner and this place was within walking distance. Although you need to order at the counter, the decor in this place was surprisingly nice and looked very pricey. Each wall, chair and booth seemed to have unique art. We were there after a pretty heavy storm on a weekday and no one was there. The tacos and burritos were healthy portions and reasonably priced, despite being in a tourist heavy area. They have the standard fare you find a authentic Mexican place and everything we had was spot on taste wise. I will certainly keep this place in my memory bank the next time I go up north. read more

I will be stopping here on my next trip up to Northern Michigan. I had the wet burrito with grilled veggies.
