My family took a loved one here yesterday for a birthday dinner. I've been there several times before. This place never disappoints! I have eaten there now at least 10 times and the meal is always made to order, fresh, and absolutely delicious. I will be dreaming about their Plantano Rellano for awhile. The sweet warm plantain combined with fresh tomato and well seasoned beef was a perfect flavor combo. I am not an authority on Honduran cuisine, but everything I've ever eaten here rocks. I love the chicharrones (fried pork skins) and yucca. Don't come here expecting Tex-Mex. It is Honduran food, which not many people have been exposed to yet. (Kenner has one of the largest population of Honduran expats in the world, by the way.) I went on Saturday to have lunch the first thing is the parking lot is a mess starting that it a house remodeled as a restaurant, someone hit my car and run away, the service is the worst i ever had, they charge $20 dollar for a soup the food was not really cooked as i wanted i asked for more orchata i have to wait 25 mins just to get it and they charge me for waiting and when i asked for the check they charge me the 20% gratuity for only 2 people, i have been charge 20% when is a table of 6 or more top so what kind of restaurant is this??? This was my first time at this place. I decided to go here based on the other good reviews, and ordered takeout. I would say the other reviews are spot on. Don't let it's strange location in a residential area fool you. The place seems to really care about its food. I ordered the shredded beef (aka ropa vieja) served with white rice, sweet plantains, beans, cabbage/tomato salad, and pico de gallo. The tomatoes were bright red and fresh and had a nice homemade dressing on it. It paired well with the cabbage salad. The pico de gallo had just the right amount of lime juice and salt to give it that refreshing taste. I'm a big fan of ropa vieja and have tried many around NYC. This shredded beef was one of the best ones I've had. The sauce wasn't too "tomatoey" or sweet, which some places do. The beef was delicate, moist and flavorful. It's obvious that everything was homemade. The beans tasted like they were the type that you buy fresh in a bag and require soaking rather than canned. This place seems like its family run. There was an old Hispanic lady in the kitchen that is probably cooking up old family recipes. Also, the other reviews were right in that the place is kept very clean. The kitchen looked like it hadn't even been cooked in. They clearly take good care of the place, which is important for small hole-in-the-wall places that sometimes maintain a sloppy kitchen. I will definitely try this place again and hope they keep getting good business. A lot of restaurants seem to come and go on Williams. I like to see small family restaurants stick around. Also, they give a ton of food. Some of the sauce spilled out of the container but that's because there was so much of it. I had it for dinner and lunch. Even though it was all in one container, the food was packaged very well and looked nice. That can be hard to pull off when you get food to go. read more

Excellent, fresh, flavorful lunch at a stunningly affordable price. My boyfriend and I high-tailed it over to Mi Pueblito after I landed at MSY. My first time, his third. We had a steak baleada, an egg baleada, and fried plantains. With a drink it came to under $16!! Mine came with perfectly/salted and fluffy, scrambled eggs, rich crema, impeccable refried beans, and gorgeous, large avocado slices that I added on. I can honestly say that it was the best baleada I have ever tasted anywhere. Perfect proportions, well-seasoned, delicious tortillas, and I finished every bite. The plantains were also great. Crispy, chewy, sweet, and savory. And the service was FAST and the restaurant was CLEAN. you will not regret making a trip out there. read more

This is a place that is off the beaten path and in a side street where you would least expect a hidden jewel restaurant. The place is clean, friendly and has a very cozy , "home cook" meal feeling to it. I had the Plantain Maduro and it was pleasantly delicious. Very generous portions. I feared it was going to be a very salty meal but quite the opposite. This is a place i highly recommend that otherwise you will never find elsewhere. read more

I walked in and was not greeted at all, I asked questions about the menu because im not South American and the server/owner totally ignore my questions and his response was it's typical honduran food . I waited 30 minutes to get my food and was rushed to eat because he was getting close to closing time. The guy rudely stated he needed to go home it was time to close. I WONT BE GOING BACK . Food is not bad but prices are outrageous! A bean soup which is NOT expensive to make, is almost $12!!! I could get a decent lunch plate at Copelands for that much!! On top of that. In addition, they could be a little nicer with customers... one of them made the comment that I was complicated because I said to leave out the tortillas and only wanted some of the pork rinds...
