My wife, son and I decided to try this place on a whim. We were welcomed by the staff and was seated promptly. There was several specials and decided to try one of those. If you ever there, make sure you get the ribs. Its not your typical rib, but more of a flat steak with a bone. Seasoned great and very tasty. Also the plantains were cooked just right. We would definitely be back.

Exceptionally good and at a price that won't break the bank. It's labeled as Mexican food but more of a South American flare with a delicious Argentinian Sausage Chorizo and delicious beef short ribs! Will definitely be back for more!

The chiccken (Pollo) is incredible. The service is fast, and the prices more than fair. I give this place an A-OK in my book. Nothing fancy, but who needs fancy? Williams Blvd, is to glorious multicultural ethnic cuisine what Oak and Freret Streets are for cool, hipster hang outs..

Hidden Gem For Spanish Cuisine Been seeing this place and decided to look up the reviews and this is what prompted me to try it. I was pleasantly surprised at how wonderful the food is here. I really over order as I got the following items: tamale de pollo (masa tamale with chicken and veggies wrapped in banana leafs), tamale de elote (masa corn tamale with cream sauce), Parrillada (platter of 1 braised beef rib, roasted ¼ chicken, 1 roasted Argentina sausage), jalapenos asados (2 seasoned roasted jalopena peppers). All the items had sides of cabbage and tortillas and various sauces. All of the food is well flavored and served hot. I would have given a 5 star review but the white meat chicken was dry and over roasted. I would get the dark meat next time. I wasn't asked what choice meat for the chicken and didn't know it would be white meat. My waitress was very friendly but struggled with the English language and had to get a fellow employee to translate at times. I would definitely make another visit here to try other items.

Small location with big flavor, the Parrilada is a great into with 3 meats to give you an intro into what the grill has to offer. Delicious marinated chicken, flavorful sausage and tender short ribs

Choripan sandwich with Yucca frites- delicious!

This place is easily overlooked, as it sits in a fairly dark strip mall off of Williams. However, I am so glad we found it! The food was amazing, atmosphere pleasant and the service prompt and super friendly. I was blown away! The specials sheet was in Spanish, but the waitress took the time to translate and talk through each one, which we thought was really great. My fiancé and I shared a Choripan sandwich (Argentinian sausage, cheese on French bread) and a mix plate which included grilled chicken, grilled beef, rice and beans, cabbage salad, plantains and pickled veggies. The sandwich was delicious, with a large amount of sausage and yucca frites on the side. The meat on the mix plate was grilled to perfection and amazingly delicious. The plantains were crispy on the outside but warm and delicious on the inside- perfect! There were 2 sauces that came with the meal, a white sweet one and a green spicy one, and they were were good alone or mixed together. And our waitress checked in us often, and called us "sweeties" the whole time....love it! This was one of the best overall dining experiences I have had in a long time and I can't wait to come back!!

El Typico - chicken, short ribs, plantains, rice and beans, salad, queso fresco - delicious!

Wow, what a find! This was such a delicious meal and the price is good too! My fiancé and I split a choripan sandwich with yucca fries and the el typico special, which had chicken, short rib, rice and beans, plantains, salad, pickled spicy peppers, and queso Fresca. Everything was absolutely delicious. The chicken and ribs were awesome, the sausage sandwich was great, even the sides were just as delicious. The menu and specials were all in Spanish, but the friendly waitress took the time to explain everything to us in English and was super friendly the whole time, calling us sweeties throughout the meal. Will definitely come back!

The chicken here is great. I'm sure making chicken in a wood fire is costly but the prices are great as well. This place is a hidden gem

A few years ago I had been to La Tia in Metairie, and it left a serious impression. What stuck with me most were the craft cocktails...creative, clever, and a little bit mischievous. I still remember one in particular: a Mexican-inspired cocktail with mezcal and beet juice that somehow managed to taste like summer decided to take a vacation south of the border. It was the kind of drink that makes you pause mid-sip and say, "Okay... whoever thought of this deserves a raise." Somehow the place drifted off my radar over time. But when the craving for Mexican food hit, it popped right back into my head. I was excited to bring my son and daughter-in-law since they had never been. Unfortunately... the reunion didn't exactly go as planned. Two things hit me immediately while looking over the menu. First: the craft cocktails were gone. Not "different." Not "updated." Just... gone. Replaced with the same drinks you see in every other Mexican restaurant. Second: the prices nearly made me spit out the water I hadn't even ordered yet. $6 for a Corona. $18 for a basic burrito with fries. $10 for a kids plate over chicken tenders and some fries. And not the old La Tia burritos either...the ones I remembered piled high with rich molé, bright verde sauces, and layers of flavor that made you wonder if you should be taking notes. Nope. Now we're talking about a plain flour tortilla with some ground meat inside, no sauce, and a side of what looked suspiciously like freezer-aisle French fries. For eighteen dollars. My daughter-in-law ordered the fajitas, and honestly... they were rough. Thin strips of overcooked meat that looked like they had taken a brief vacation in a plastic bag before hitting the grill...served on a plate. Lately I've gotten into the habit of pulling up Yelp photos to compare dishes from past years, and I did exactly that. I found a photo of the same fajitas from about three years ago...big, juicy steak pieces, sizzling on cast iron and full of life. What we got looked like it came from a completely different restaurant. To be fair, my shrimp tacos were actually pretty good. Nicely cooked shrimp, decent flavor, and probably the lone bright spot of the night. But overall, it felt like the La Tia I loved had quietly packed up and left the building. The elevated Mexican food? Gone. The rich sauces? Gone. The inventive cocktails that made the bar worth sitting at? Also gone. In their place: food that feels pulled from a bag... at prices that feel pulled from a luxury menu. It's a tough thing when a restaurant you once loved loses its spark. But sadly, this visit felt less like a reunion and more like running into an old friend who has completely changed--and not for the better. As much as I hate to say it, I don't see myself returning to La Tia anytime soon. Turns out the only thing that stayed spicy... was the price tag.

Decided to sit at the bar so I can get in and out quickly and have a little margarita. My server/bartender wasn't very attentive at all. I had to get his attention a few times for service because he was in his whole the whole time. I ordered a margarita that to me was okay, but it tasted much better after I asked to have a flavor added to it. I think it was hibiscus. I only got 2 tacos. The fish and shrimp. The fish was a little bland for my taste but the sauces and add ons saved it. This was an okay experience, I'm writing this place off. I plan to give them another shot and try some of their other menu items.

The waitresses were kind and quick to take my order. I ordered a simple fried fish and a queso for an appetizer. The queso was simple and just ok. The salsas were not spiced at all and were very watery. The dish came and it was extremely greasy, I get that it's a fried dish but at least let some of the oil drip off before plating. I used several napkins to try to take off some of the excess oil. The fries were very soggy and not seasoned at all and the fish looked appetizing but when I bit into it, it had no flavor whatsoever. The texture was there and it looked like it was going to taste good but it fell extremely short in taste. On the flip side, the beans were overly seasoned. The rice was also lacking salt. I felt bad when the waitress came to ask me how everything was. I had to tell her that they completely forgot to season my food. She apologized and I said it wasn't her fault and asked for my check and told her she might want to tell the chef to not forget the salt next time. Overall the place was nice for group gatherings, although the music was a little loud, they also had several TVs playing different things. Maybe I selected the wrong dish but I have to say I won't be going here again when I want a good Mexican seafood. I'll have to check out their other dishes and hope they're much better. For now they won't be added on my places to frequent during my work trips.

The Nachos Garcia are phenomenal. Margaritas too...always good. Service has always been fine. Now. The bad. Y'all. The ladies' room smells aggressively terrible. "Room" autocorrected to "run," and that felt spiritually accurate. It smells like someone made a series of deeply personal choices and then left them behind. Not a faint odor. Not a "maybe it needs attention." I am talking full, undeniable, immediate presence of Satan's butthole. One step inside and your body goes, "Absolutely not." Every time I've been here. Every. Single. Time. I have to hold my breath for the entire bathroom visit unless I want to gag and rethink my life decisions. Seriously. Today I almost lost my nachos before I even ate them. I should not need lung capacity training to use a restaurant bathroom. I genuinely like this place and keep coming back because the food and drinks are good. But please. I am begging. Exorcise whatever is haunting that bathroom. No margarita is strong enough to erase that experience.

I had the Dorita's Famous Chicken and Mandarin Salad. It was ok. I think I was expecting more due to the name, but the chicken was lacking flavor and so was the poppyseed dressing. I think an alternative dressing would have made a big difference. What I did notice was that all of the dishes were very generous and almost everyone had lots of leftovers. Also, there is a large lunch menu (which most of us ordered from), and it's available on Saturdays as well. Big plus.
