This will be a lengthy review. Its been a long time since we've been here. Nothing really major , made us not come back. Its just one of those things. We met a good friend of ours here for lunch. His wife and US, would regularly go n out to eat with each other. It was a normal routine. His wife passed away suddenly about 8 months ago and he hasnt gone anywhere that whole time. She was my best friend. It was a pleasant surprise, when he agreed to have lunch with us. We decided to go to Zea's on W. ESPLANADE. It was obvious they were busy as most of the lot was full. The first thing we noticed was the new interior renovations. It was definitely brighter and open since the last time we were here. We finally got sat at a table, wasnt a long wait. Our server, (young lady named Taylor) was our server. She was very friendly, inviting personality and made you feel welcomed. We started off with drinks and the Hummus appetizer. Never seen a big appetizer like this, it was perfect for 3 even 4 ppl and very good. It was served with warm pita slices. I remember they served cucumber slices upon request, not sure if they still do that. The lunch entrees were Almond chicken salad for my wife. Our friend ordered the Thai rib plate and I had the Crispy duck. As far as I know, my food was excellent, the duck was well cooked and moist. The Thai ribs are usually always good, no doubt that has changed, I stole one of my friends ribs. It went to good use. My wife said the main salad was good, but she feels the chicken itself lacked flavor, but since this is my review, only my opinion matters, lol. The Thai ribs were very good. I love the corn grits and the zea potatoes. For me, I feel this was my best meal I've had all year so far. Would I come back? Heck yeah. You buying? I overall, love the change. Had a Gift Certificate so tried this for the first time. We really weren't impressed. However, our server was amazing and we couldn't have had a better one. However, the food was sub par for the price. The hummus and pita Appetizer was delicious and we all thoroughly enjoyed. We had the Honey Island Chicken which was good but not $17 good. It came with basic, undercooked and unsalted fries. The daughter had the Philly Steak Panini which didn't look appealing and she said it was overly full of mayo which is mixed in with the meat. Our granddaughter had the Balsamic Salmon which looked so pretty and was delicious but it was almost $30 and came with 2 basic sides. The hamburgers were cooked well but still only came with a basic side and the fries were awful. The atmosphere was okay but a bit dark. Thankful we had the gift certificate because we all decided this was a one and done! read more

So, funny enough, we tried this place out because Judi Jai from the Bad Girls Club recommended it to my girl via instagram. What I would give for this restaurant to be in California, the food was amazing. We had the Thai rib stack, rotisserie beef sirloin, grits, white rice, Thai green beans, and zea potatoes. Everything was delicious, I didn't get a chance to take a picture of the grits because we had no self control and demolished them immediately. Our server, Alyssa, was the definition of pleasant. She was incredibly attentive and genuinely kind and friendly. The restaurant was clean and had a nice atmosphere. Please consider opening these restaurants in California omg. read more

Food is always great! I almost always get the ribs, fall off the bone and delicious. My family also loves the Asian almond shrimp! Never had an issue with service, all of the servers we've had so far have been wonderful. Nice place but just a bit dark for the older crowd lol read more

Our server was helpful and friendly, the atmosphere was enjoyable, and the food was more delicious than it looked. What kind of restaurant is in south Louisiana and serves imported shrimp? I know several do, and it's a shame that they don't use Louisiana shrimp. The server, Taylor with a trainee following her, gave me the stupidest excuse saying corporate told them Louisiana shrimp have antibiotics and fillers and it changes the texture of the dish? Then she said the imported shrimp don't have antibiotics or fillers. Is this person listening to the words coming out of their mouth? I told the server that's the stupidest thing I ever heard. It makes zero sense. How about Zea's uses imported shrimp because it's cheap!!! Then the red beans were definitely canned, maybe blue runner. They were tasty, as blue runner beans are, but again what kind of restaurant is in south Louisiana and uses canned red beans. They should be making their own New Orleans style red beans, not using canned. Then I got their new catfish amandine dish and when it came to the table there was a crock of Meunière sauce on the side, which was nice that it was on the side so the catfish stays crispy. But then to my horror the trainee picked up the sauce crock from my plate and flooded it all over the fried fish, essentially ruining the crispy fish that I wanted to dip into the sauce. Who told them to flood a customers plate with a sauce served on the side. Then we got a brownie with ice cream, and the ice cream was more than 50% melted. How about scooping the ice cream right before it comes to the table so it's not melted. We got one burger with a side, one flooded filet of fish with two sides, two non-alcoholic drinks, and a brownie for almost $100 with tip. I will not be back to Zea's, and definitely not the Kenner location. I left dissatisfied, disappointed and $100 lighter. Definitely not worth it for a place that serves imported shrimp with lame excuses, canned red beans and melted ice cream. read more

We had a department meeting with about 28 people, and the service was great. Kyle was our server, and his demeanor was calm and friendly. He serviced us effectively. There wasn't a bump and it was great. The room we were in was set up comfortably and it was clean. The restroom was also clean. The 1st stall needed attention because someone put the toilet wrapper in it, but other than that, it was clean. The food was good from the salad to the dessert. We come here often, always a good meal. We frequent the chicken sandwich, fried and dressed regularly. It's amazing, cooked perfectly with great honey mustard. The Mediterranean hummus is a great starter as well as the duck empanadas. Another very good meal is the southwest panini, I'm always torn between the two. Both have huge flavors that are hard to replicate. I love the Thai snap beans and the corn grits of course. The sangria is made really well, servers are always nice. It's never packed. In a word very average 2.5 stars. Sat in the bar area and there was not enough help. Bartender had to cover the room and make drinks for the whole restaurant. That being said she did the best she could with no help. The food was forgettable. I had the shrimp bridge pasta and it was no better than Applebees. I took the family here for dinner on a weeknight. It was pretty slow but the host was super nice and accommodating. I was told they just had renovations done so it looks great on the inside. I got the Shrimp Breaux Bridge $20.95. I also ordered a small Zeasar Salad $5.95. Our server Taylor did a great job service wise. Only thing that was off was the Caesar's salads did not come out before the entree's but no biggie. The main part of my 3 star review is for the food itself, the sauce was pretty soupy/runny and in general just not very tasty. Shrimp was cooked well but very bland. The salad was a good size and tasted good. I will have to try something else if I go back but the service and ambiance was great. read more

A great location to dine and wine at. Great waiters and waitresses that know how to treat customers, and are genuine. Lengthy wait for food, but the chefs make the wait WELL worth it. Although we wanted to avoid chain places on our trip to NOLA, in the interest of time we stopped here. With quasi creole fare, and a diverse menu, it seemed like a good pick. The hostess was very pleasant and welcoming. Our waitress was super awesome! Kept us laughing. The food: Crab cake appetizer--just okay, not the worse, but certainly nothing to write home about. Veggie Panini--great flavor! It's not too often I find a veggie option that's extremely filling and flavorful. Philly Panini---my sister says "just ok." Asia Almond Shrimp--very, very good! I'd go back for these. Shrimp pasta-- not bad, not great. Corn cheese grits--STAR OF THE TABLE. I'm taking off a star because our food took over 30 minutes to come out. We observed the table next to us had their food before us, although they sat a while after us. I had a girls' lunch here recently and it all went fine. We were greeted by a friendly hostess and our waitress came by right away to take our drink orders. She took our food order when she returned with our drinks. She seemed happy to be at work and was helpful with menu questions. Our food came out pretty quickly and everything was fantastic. Between us we ordered the chili glazed rotisserie chicken plate, the barbecue rotisserie chicken plate and the seared tuna salad (my order). I tried both chicken plates, and as always I was impressed with how juicy and tender the chicken was. I wish I could make chicken like that! My tuna salad was light and the tuna was seared perfectly rare. It was delicious!! My only complaint is that the area where we were seated - a booth near the bar - felt a little dark and dated. I much rather the opposite side of the restaurant. There's more natural light and if just seems warmer. read more

Another fabulous visit! There have been some updates since we've last been. The dining area has been remodeled and has a more open design space. The waiting area feels very homey with the new seating. The hostess sat us quick and our server came right away. This visit, we tried the duck and omg, it was amazing!!! Had some grits (cause how could you not) and greens as sides. The greens were also cooked to perfection. We also tried the new crispy artichoke side and oooh, so very yummy!!! There was another new dish we tried too, a redfish topped with some artichoke hearts with lemon reduction sauce over the top. This was the only dish I've ever had that I can't really rave on. It was only okay. I thought the fish could be seasoned more and the sauce was VERY lemony. read more

we ordered take out from Zea today, we have sat in the restaurant many times but the first time I ordered food to go. During this pandemic, I understand restaurants are suffering and each are responding differently but the level of customer service and attention to cleanliness Sea provided was outstanding The server who took our order was prompt and very friendly, when we pulled up we waited 30secs and our food came out (because they had asked which car we were driving) and once the card was swiped, it was wiped down, the pen to sign was wiped down and the credit card holder was also wiped down. I have ordered food from many restaurants during the pandemic and this was the most impressed and efficient i have witnessed in terms of customer service and attention to cleanliness GREAT JOB ZEA!!! read more

We always love Zea's, they do a great job on the rotisserie and, of course, the grits will keep us coming back regardless. We stopped in for lunch on the way to the airport. Got a waiter named Jo; what a kick! He really knew his stuff, was very engaging and attentive, and just knocked it out of the park on service. Meal was typical; I almost always get the ribs. They're fun to share, it's plenty of food, and I like bringing the bones home to my pup, Tucker. He doesn't mind, either. Grits on the side along with snap beans and it was a meal! Very tasty, as always, and a really good way to send my wife off on her business trip. No pictures of the meal, sorry. I'd like to suggest you head on over and get yourself a rack of these ribs with a side of grits and some extra Thai sauce. If you're not going to bring the bones home, Tucker'll take 'em! read more
