Super bland, nothing seemed overly fresh, cold chips. Ordered steak and chorizo tacos - no spice from the chorizo at all. And chile Colorado - expected "chunks" of beef as listed on menu but it was chopped. Also greasy. Tortillas seem store bought. Not worth the calories or the cost. Mi Pueblo is a Washington, Indiana staple - when I grew up there, it didn't exist but now when you say 'Bobe's' or 'White Steamer' (both great) people add Mi Pueblo. I've tried it twice now, and just don't get it. It's a Mexican restaurant. Like all others. I admit the salsa is very good, and it's an attractive place, but the food is kind of meh for me. I've had the fajitas and the nacho supreme. . . both were ok, but nothing to set them apart from any other similar restaurant. The décor is great, it's an open and pretty space - the service was fine and the prices about the norm. It's just that I can't get past the food being good but not great. When so many people were telling me about it as an alternative to my usual choices when in town, I expected more. I'm spoiled I suppose having so many great offerings near me, but I was disappointed - again, it wasn't bad, just not special. If you need a fix, it'll do the job. read more

Let me list the reasons for the 5 star review: Decor - can't get any better or authentic! But no bar! Boo But we did get to sing happy birthday twice to patrons! Great environment! Quick service - and yummy food with way more than we could eat! We shared fajitas but started with chorizo queso. We destroyed the queso (it was so good) and got two helpings of the chunky salsa. Ate here after the 2024 Eclipse but before the evening rush. Nice, varied menu. Pleasant decor and seating. We were waited on quickly (maybe because it wasn't busy) and the food was served with one of the shortest waits we've experienced. Our server was very attentive. I will not eat at this restaurant anymore. I used to come here all the time and it was good. But each time I have come back it gets progressively worse. The last time I ate there it tasted like there was absolutely no seasoning in it whatsoever. I had chicken fajitas and it was terrible. This place was so good! I can't believe there's such awesome Mexican food in such a tiny Indiana town. I got the steak fajitas at lunchtime and for about $8 they give SO much food. I wish they gave a little guacamole with the dish but other than that the food was perfect. Really cute decor, you can tell they put work into their restaurant. Bright colors and seemingly custom handiwork on all of the chairs and benches makes it seem really authentic. We were traveling from out of state and looking for a non-chain restaurant for lunch. Mi Pueblo was a very well done building with unique decor. The food was very good, reasonably priced and the employees were very friendly. My "spicy chicken" enchilada was not overly spicy, but was quite good. Also, the tortilla chips were not salted, which can be helpful if you are trying to watch your sodium. read more

Mi Pueblo is by far the best Mexican restaurant that I have had. The staff treats you like family the food is incredible. I ordered a taco salad with beef and shrimp. It was very flavorless and bland. I ate less than half of contents. I asked for a scoop of beans on my taco salad and was brought a whole bowl of beans which would have added $$ to my order. The salsa was not good. Best things were the guacamole and my taco shell. Very disappointed because we have came here in the past and it was pretty good in the past. My boyfriends beans with his fajitas were completely runny and didn't taste right. Won't be coming here again sad to say. Oh forgot I had to spit out some salsa had a hair or fuzz in it. read more

I read a couple of reviews about the salsa and I must agree. It tastes more like pizza sauce than salsa. I asked the server for a hotter salsa, and he brought something else that was good and hot. Mixed with the salsa, it was better, and on its own, was very good. Very generous portion sizes, definitely order from the lunch menu for lunch as it's a better value. My lunch quesadilla with chicken was good, and my traveling companions felt the same about theirs. read more

I had such high hopes given the reviews that spoke of "authentic" Mexican food. I'm sorry - I'm not originally from Indiana, so I cannot speak to the pounds of processed cheese sauce eaten here - but authentic Mexican food is NOT slathered in processed cheese sauce, nor are tamales or chile rellenos piled high with ground beef...and processed cheese sauce. I'm sure there are plenty of other tasty things on the menu but when my food comes to me covered in sauce and virtually cold.... es no bueno! This has to be the worst Mexican restaurant I have ever been to! start it off with they got my order totally all wrong then found a piece of plastic that cut my mouth that was either in the chips or in the salsa when I took a bite the owner instead of owning up to it she said we don't use plastic well lady that came of of something then when I went to the bathroom they threw all my food away plus my bill my bill was still there why would you throw my food away this was just a horrible experience they did make me some more food 1/2 and order that they threw away and it was actually right because my first order wasn't! As Mexican restaurants go--this is a good one. It was very nicely decorated. If the building had been something else you sure could not tell it. I am from Southern Indiana but I reside in Arizona now. I miss Americanized Mexican restaurants like this one. This place was really big and clean. The food was good and everything tasted fresh. The menu was huge and and they have more items than other local similar restaurants in the area. The only thing I didn't care for was the salsa that comes with the chips. BAD!! We used to enjoy dining at this restaurant, but tonight it was a REALLY disappointing poor experience. This once fairly decent Mexican restaurant, has downgraded to a much lower quality of food. Our waiter was a very pleasant man, but there was no silverware or napkins on the table and we had to ask for them even once our food was served. The chips were cold and stale and the side of guacamole we ordered was an out of the jar, processed product. Our meals were just as mediocre with dry as a bone chicken and a lumpy, soggy chimichanga. Nothing was fresh, much less tasty. To add insult to injury, the manager offered no apology or ounce of concern but rather bordered on rude, condescending and argumentative. Bottom line.......we won't be wasting our hard earned dollars on the sub-standard food and arrogant management at Mi Pueblo again. There ARE other choices for Mexican food in our small town, and our business will go to those establishments. read more

I had an empty drink for most of my meal. I didn't get my bill until I walked up to the counter to pay. And the owner wasn't apologetic at all when I told him about the bad service.
