Had beef tacos, they were OK. Beans were fine. Rice was bland. My wife had a bean and cheese burrito, which is generally one of her favorite meals. She did not finish her food, or take home what was left. Margarita was reasonably priced but weak, and sweet and sour was certainly not freshly made, but bottled. We just moved here from Southern Arizona, where good Mexican food is bountiful. When we first walked in, they were super busy, but had a few tables for us to seat ourselves. They were quick to bring menus and water/margaritas. My husband and I split the Molcajete and it was AMAZINGGGG. We even had plenty of left overs. The waiter's were super nice and helpful. The food was great and they constantly brought us more baskets of freshly cooked tortilla chips. Every Mexican restaurant pales in comparison to La Tarasca in Centralia. This place is no exception. Fairly Americanized Mexican food. Better then El Sarape. Stale chips. Mediocre salsa. The staff were vacuuming while we were eating. Mexican music and Mexican television blaring at the same time. They did have Dos XX on draft, but it was a tad flat. Overall, Meh. read more

Pros: the cheese dip was good. The rice was good. Cons: my water had no ice and was warm. I had to ask for ice and that took 5 minutes. The food for lunch wasnt really good. HOLY SMOKES!!!!! This is by far the best Mexican food I have EVER had! Being in the military I have traveled to more than a dozen country's an this place beats them all. To include their hospitality is among the very best. The owner Oscar came out an introduced himself bc he heard from the waitress that it was our first time there. We asked if he had any empanadas an be said no, that they are still expanding his menu but he is open to add ideas to his menu. Sure enough 15 mins later he walks out with his version an they were very delicious! AND they were on the house! Can NOT find a better restaurant! Very family friendly! SLOW, SLOWER, SLOWEST. Terribly slow waited what seemed to be forever for our meal. They did not have Alaskan beer on tab despite the listing on the menu. The service is good you just have to wait for the food a bit longer. The decor is standard Mexican restaurant, it has TV that's not on, and it looks clean. Unfortunately the food is not that great. although the portion is very big, (I had my hopes high reading the reviews in yelp) but all the food we ordered taste bland. I could not eat more than a few spoonfuls of it. But the restaurant is nice enough to take it out of my bill. I really appreciate that. So the stars are for the service and the venue. Came to see how well they compare to other mexican fare in the area, and I'll say they do an amazing job, the salsa is full of flavor and the right amount of kick, not watered down like others.. The manager came by and introduced himself while waiting for my order, and was very warm and welcoming, now..onto the main course I ordered the chimichanga and enchilada, the rice and beans were fresh and not dried out, the chimichamga was perfect you could taste the sour cream, guac, and chicken individually in each bite, rather than a bite of just the oil and over greased out taste, with no flavor from another restaurant.. The enchilada was another story, good flavor but a bit dry and could have used some extra enchilada sauce possibly, at least they have good portions, are a bit pricey though, but some of the best in the area.. :) read more

4.5 stars! Camarones al Mojo de Ajo is a true stand-out if you're a lover of shrimp, mushrooms and garlic. I haven't had anything like it elsewhere in Lacey. The carne asada also sets Mi Pueblo above other local establishments. This place is pretty excellent. And while it may get loud from a good family atmosphere (think kids being kids), Oscar will make you feel welcome always. read more

The house salsa with chips is some of the best I've had. A little spicy but good. Got the Ahogado Torta and side of rice and beans. This dish is covered in a spicy sauce. Your eating with fork and knife. Next time I would get the sauce over a different Torta for more contrast between the sauce and sandwich. Sauce was a little salty for me but I don't have salt on anything so probably fine for most. Have plenty of leftovers and barely touched the rice and beans. A little spendy. $7.99 for Torta and $5.25 of side. read more

Found another gem! I think I'll look into geology. I enjoyed a lengua taco, the albóndiga soup, and a flan for dessert. All very tasty. The language was cut just right and had its uniquely soft texture. The albóndiga itself (a pork and beef meat combo) gives the soup it's distinct flavor, not to mention the delicious veggies (that didn't mush); it all mingled in such a way it can only be described as delish. The flan was creamy and not overly sweet, just the way it should be. Oscar Jr. was a polite and charming young man. Absolutely love the family atmosphere! Give this place a try and for those yelpers who complained about it taking too long, know that good and fresh food takes time to make. I felt the 15-20 minute wait (which is written in the menu) was worth it. read more

Fresh, hot and tasty food. Phenomenal staff that create a welcoming environment and quick, friendly service. The owner is ever present and checking in on his guests to ensure their happiness, and managers such as William, make you feel at home. Be sure to try as many of the flavors as you can. This restaurant came highly recommended, and my daughter definitely enjoyed it. With that said, I didn't really. I should preface my comments by noting that I have a preference for hot, spicy food, and eat very hot Thai food most often. On the plus side, my daughter''s Arroz con Pollo was plentiful and tasty. My tacos were less plentiful but also better than average. On the other hand, the Nachos Mi Pueblo we ordered were... meh. Plentiful cheese but soggy nacho chips from the get go. No jalepenos. My biggest issue was the salsa, which I require in large quantities but which was parceled out sparingly. Tasty enough, but nowhere near enough, and without it, everything seemed bland. It didn't help that the place was very crowded and service just okay. If you want fairly authentic Mexican, give it a shot. Not really my cup of tea, though. read more

This place has a friendly vibe. Futbol playing on the TV, classic Mexican ballads playing. They bring hot chips and bland salsa. The service is friendly but slow, but it was busy. Not surprisingly, they serve the giant pre-mixed margarita in the fishbowl glass. I had tacos and they were pretty disappointing. The meat had a lot of gristle and not a lot of flavor. My husband had some kind of carne asada soup which was not exciting. It's a friendly local place, but the food was average to below average. This restaurant is truly authentic. Their menu is expansive and their salsa is delicious. Such a great family run establishment. The owner is always there and thanks us every time for coming. We usually don't drink alcohol when dining out, but have tried the frozen margaritas a time or two and they are well made. Not too strong or weak. Don't be deterred by the strip mall location, this small restaurant is where it's at for an excellent meal and an excellent deal. Ate here yesterday with my husband. Just moved into town, and wanted to try authentic Mexican food and saw their pictures online so my husband chose this spot. Our waitress was a sweetheart and the restaurant is very colorful and welcoming. The food was amazing! My plate could have fed two men, I had to take home leftovers! Service and good attention to ALL customers is what this restaurant is lacking. The food was bland and some of it was rotten (guacamole). The orchata drink was lacking flavor and it took 5-10 minutes to get our drinks. It was not busy and they were not understaffed. I had to call out to the servers and make myself known for refills. I did notice certain customers around the restaurant get better service than others and if I didn't know any better I would say white people got serviced better from where I sat. I am Hispanic and there was also other hispanic customers around, so for me to say this is awkward. Go to Puerto del Sol, its also right down the road on martin way. read more

Before Eating: I talked on the phone with Oscar about accommodations for vegetarians several months ago. Normally their beans and rice are cooked in lard. BUT if you call ONE HOUR ahead of time and ask to speak to Oscar, he will make sure they have plain beans and rice cooked in water ready for your arrival. So vegetarians can make it work here, you just have to plan ahead. For the record, after calling about a dozen Mexican places in the Northwest, he is the first restaurateur who has offered this option. It's nearly impossible to find a Latino restaurant in the NW that isn't cooking their beans in lard or their rice in chicken broth, or both. After Eating: Of course when I actually got a chance to eat at Mi Pueblo, there was no advance warning as we were out with friends. So we talked with the waitress, and she was pretty sure the whole beans are vegetarian so we got those and skipped the rice. Major misinformation in their menu because they have a "vegetarian" section of the menu but it's full of rice and beans offerings without once mentioning that the rice is NOT vegetarian and only one kind of their beans can be so. It's the "no chunks of meat" school of "vegetarian" menus... The complimentary chips and salsa were skippable--the salsa is odd and not tasty--but I was glad later in the meal to have the chips to help create something to eat out of what was on the table. My husband ordered the avocado enchiladas, and I ordered the tacos mixtecos--both with just whole beans and no rice-- and a shared side of chile relleno. The food took a very long time to reach us, even though the restaurant was quite empty and it was normal dinner time on a weekday. Overall, it was a very underwhelming experience that I wouldn't be eager to repeat. My husband's enchiladas were fairly plain tasting, though drenched in salsa verde (which came in handy, so I'm glad it was there). The whole beans as sides were actually my favorite part of the meal, as they were delicious. I also liked the chile relleno as it was large and spicy--husband couldn't handle the spice level. I didn't like the way they cooked the ingredients in my tacos (neither did husband), and ended up picking out the cactus pieces and adding beans and then salsa verde off my husband's plate. I also put beans and some of his salsa verde onto chips and enjoyed that to make up for a lackluster meal. Too much blandness for a Mexican restaurant, and prices high for quality of food delivered.... (plus no price change if you're not getting the rice). read more

Salsa was pretty good. Tortilla chips were crispy and seemed fresh. I got the seafood chimichanga ($12.99), which came with beans and rice, and some lettuce and tomato. No tortillas, so I couldn't judge what their tortillas are like. When I ordered, I specifically asked for for no cheese or sour cream on my food (I don't do dairy). The waitress repeated it and wrote it down. But when my food arrived, there was cheese all over the chimichanga and the beans. I'm sure if I had said something, she would have taken it back, but I had already waited a while and I didn't feel like waiting for a new plate. The chimichanga was good. Flavorful filling with lots of shrimp. Medium size. On it's own, I would five it 4 stars. There was a nice looking salsa verde on it, but most of that came off when I scraped off the cheese. Overall, not a bad place. Didn't blow me away on my first visit though. But if I were to go to a local (Oly/Lacey) Mexican restaurant for dinner, I would suggest to my party that we go here, so I could give it another try. Now for a quick lunch on the other hand, I personally would go to California Tacos or Paco's Tacos (w/ their salsa bar) just cause both are more geared toward a quick lunch and are awesome. read more

We live in Lacey and have always looked around the "hood" for good quality food and service. We ordered the Carne Asada with the Camarrones and Beef Enchilada Combo and their Chicken Chimichanga! Both were excellent and didn't have to wait all that long for our orders to arrive! I got stuffed with the Carne Asada combo and had to take some of it home. I didn't want to stuff myself silly! So, next time I will order something "lighter" for room for dessert...fried ice cream or maybe a flan! Like I said, we will be back for more! From the moment we walked in the door we experienced outstanding customer service from the server and what appears to be the owner. The restaurant is clean and very simple. You can choose to sit in a booth or at regular tables. The Latin music is not overly loud and does not interrupt conversation at all. The free chips and salsa are salty and mildly spicy as they should be. I had the Carne Asada and was very pleased. The entree is served with rice, refried beans and guacamole. My wife had the Enchilada Jalisco and was also pleased even though it was not what she was expecting. This is not "Americanized" Mexican food, This is the real true Mexican food. Every bite is yummy!! Carry out seems to be available as a few people called in then came to pick up their order. We will most certainly be back!! read more
