2 stars. $15 breakfast burrito - don't bother. Light on eggs - wasn't sure if the eggs were real. The chorizo had an odd flavor - almost like it was trick meat. The tortillas weren't fresh or home made. Got the pork tamales - too much masa and not enough pork for our liking. Flavor of the pork was ok. Costco tamales are better. Salsa was good. The grocery store had some interesting items and it appeared clean. Thinking an authentic Mexican restaurant would taste better. We understand why the ratings are under 4 stars. 3.9 is really high. I really wanted this place to be good. The chips were awesome. Nice and crispy, not oily. Nicely salted. They had Pepsi products. Nice music. Friendly staff. I liked that I could get things from the market and pay as part of my meal ticket. I saw pictures of the wet burrito and decided that was what I wanted. I was disappointed. The green sauce was the same as the salsa that came with the chips. Instead of chunks of pork it was shredded pork not your typical chile verde. There were rice and beans inside the burrito. They were cold, maybe like warm. There was also guacamole, lettuce, and tomatoes inside the burrito. I'm not used to having that inside a wet burrito. Not sure if there were onions in the burrito. I opened the burrito and was picking at the filling. It was big. Too big for me lol. I usually take the leftovers for later. . . but I couldn't take this. I feel the need to update this review... I've now been eating at this establishment for almost 2 years ... at least once a month. I feel like that's a good established base for my opinion with consistency! You can't beat the service and quality along with the more authentic Mexican food for the area. They have continually made upgrades to the location to accommodate more guests and it feels good. My friends and I wanted Mexican food and as I drove, a friend just randomly searched up a place and this restaurant popped up as the first search on Yelp. Decided to check it out with its great reviews! It's located in South Gate shopping center with other stores around. There's a parking lot with ample parking spaces that won't be a problem. The restaurant had a huge list of foods that it was kind of overwhelming (but options are great!). There was a variety of food options yet we all chose to order a chimichanga with steak LOL. There was an option of either the ala carte and plate. The ala carte came with one chimichanga while the plate came with two with beans and rice. It looked really good with sides of sour cream and a delicious sauce! The chimichanga was stuffed with meat and beans. Buuuut it was relatively salty... my friends all pointed it out while I didn't notice as I kept smothering sour cream on top of mine. The sour cream definitely helped neutralize the saltiness LOL. Maybe the order we got wasn't too great, but they do offer a TON of different options to try from. I wouldn't necessarily say I wouldn't go back due to the variety. read more

Came here after a late appointment for some dinner grub, and ordered a tamale and Ramirez bowl to-go. Tamale was huge and pretty decent but lacked the sides of salsas and other accoutrements I'm used to. Ramirez bowl was pretty salty and I felt like it was the toppings of a carne asada fries just without the fries. Not the greatest but it filled us up. They also have a small grocery store attached to the restaurant with a lot of homemade tortillas which looked tasty. Would give this place another chance.
