One of our best eateries in town. The food is great, the staff is friendly, and it's locally owned by some wonderful folks. Dos Hermanos is an excellent Mexican restaurant that is tucked away in a market area inside of a building in downtown Olympia. Steve and I ducked in here for a snack and we were both quite pleased with what we ordered. We got an order of nachos to share along with a bowl of Black Bean Soup. The soup and nachos were both delicious, fresh and vibrant in flavor. I had a mild craving for nachos for a while and this definitely fit the bill nicely. There looked to be a lot of other promising menu items and I can say I am not sure if you could go wrong with anything off of the menu. Decently priced Mexican food. The fish tacos came out delicious. Nothing to complain. The supreme burrito was just ok. I picked the burrito because it comes with chips and salsa. The chips were really good. They were thick. The salsa was just OK. The contents of the burrito tasted good but it was poorly wrapped. The ingredients were not evenly mixed so you get beans and chicken the first half, lettuce and sour cream the second half, and avocado the last 2 bites. Tucked away in a inside "mall" is a great find for Mexican food. Nice friendly service and plenty of seating. Tried the Torta (without beans) which was excellent and a much-larger-than-expected bean and cheese burrito. All good and demands a return to try some other menu selections. read more

I've tried burritos everywhere I can find them in Olympia and Don Hermanos has the best burritos in town. Good flavors, very fresh, delicious marinated chicken and guacamole, just right proportions. Yesterday he had the delish burrito bowl (my 2nd fav dish) and I had my fav, the chile relleno with scratch house made sauce, great refried beans and delish scratch corn tortillas. I have been looking for a good, decent priced Mexican food restaurant in Olympia. Walking down from the Farmers Market, we stumbled into this crazy little coop where multiple businesses harmoniously exist under one roof. Walking in, and sauntering past the gelato shop, we find a darker corner, adorned by fantastic art. The lights dimly lit, we were greeted by a counter employee, we chose a Burrito Supreme. For $12, this seemed like a delicious choice for the money and promised to be loaded with ingredients. I was not disappointed. WOW! This was a hefty burrito and STUFFED with high quality ingredients. We chose the carnitas for our meat and the smoky goodness had me wanting more. Must try again because I did not get any photos. read more

We had dinner there last night. The Azul Margarita ($14) was bliss, but pricey for a 10-12 oz cocktail. But... The rest of the food was just OK... and expensive... and NO complimentary chips & salsa. You order at the counter and take a seat and then wait briefly to be served. The atmosphere is OK, kind of like a food court, but smaller and with some interesting art. We had a chile relleno entree ($17), tamales (plural on the menus, but you get 1 tamale) entree ($12) and side order of two carne asada tacos (not priced on the menu, but apparently they were $7 EA). Entrees were average size and came with rice & refried beans. Nothing about either meal was worthy of a "wow"; the chile relleno & tamale were good, but far from the best we have had elsewhere. There was very little chicken in the tamale and the masa was very thick - way too much masa-to-filling ratio. The tacos were very good - flavorful steak, chopped onions, and cilantro on a freshly-made soft corn tortilla, with salsa on the side. The man taking our order was neither friendly nor helpful. The ladies in the kitchen who cook & serve were friendly, and we didn't wait too long, except the corn tortillas that came with my Chile relleno didn't arrive until I was nearly finished. The worst part was the extremely high price - our bill (before 15% tip) was $71! There are far better places in Olympia to eat Mexican food for less money. Standard Mexican food & a margarita shouldn't cost over $35 per person. Our go-to place is in Taqueria Y Mas Mi Pueblo in Lacey. Last night convinced us to not stray from what we know to be excellent, reasonably-priced food & friendly, efficient service! Much better prices and larger servings, too! Dang!! Now I feel like going to dinner again, but my dining out budget has been blown!! read more

This place is good, not great, but worth a quick stop for some Mexican food in downtown Olympia. My wife, her sister and I dropped by for dinner last night. The restaurant is located in a mini-mall place with other eateries. It smells like ice cream cones as you walk in! We had guacamole and chips and the smothered burritos. Pros: big burrito, tasty, homemade chips and quiet place: good for old fockers like me with hard of hearing. was good as was the green salsa. Cons: guacamole was ten dollars for two tablespoons, the food was warm not hot and no draft beer. Give it a try. Quality stuff with a nice atmosphere. read more

Originally, I gave this place 5 stars. I considered the food life changing but on a second trip, so many factors that lead to a 5 star review did not hold up. On my return the food was good, but not great. It didn't have the same kick ro flavor. Everything needed salt and items that were spicy on the first go, were tangy. This place is basically a cafe, yet the prices are full service. My initial trip was the Burrito and this time I had the taco plate. Both Carnitas, but again this time, the pork was not as rich. The burrito came with chips, but the taco plate did not. When you consider the taco plate is another $5, I don't understand why the portion was less. I'm sure these people are hard working and honest, but they either need to revisit pricing or portions and charging $6 for chips is criminal. $26 for 3 tacos, beans rice and chips in a food court in Olympia is a joke. I had the same meal in San Francisco a couple weeks ago for $12. That was the taco plate and the chips were free. Olympia/San Francisco, you tell me which place has the higher leases and cost of living, yet they happily serve a hot plate for half the price. read more

Excellent food (tasty, fresh, well seasoned and not greasy). We ordered to go and it came exactly as ordered (no dairy, etc.) - what great attention to detail by staff. The staff is friendly, patient (4 individual orders) and provided great advice. My wife commented on it being one of her top 5 Mexican spots and we are from California (that is saying a lot). Mexican food can be such a hit or miss. And after stopping here recently I definitely have to say I totally agree with the reviewers who came here and left feeling underwhelmed which is a shame because Dos Hermanos is such an aesthetically pleasing restaurant with vibrant colors and awesome murals. But the taste just did not leave me wanting more. Now bussing our own tables wasn't a deal breaker but flavor is always top of my list and flavor here was just bland- from the meats to the salsas there was just no big flavor. After spending the day between the car dealership and the children's museum we figured we'd just eat local. Dos Hermanos had good reviews and it was within walking distance of the children's museum so we figured this was what we'd try out. When we walked in there was some sort of group there enjoying themselves so we got excited thinking this was going to be a meal to remember. It felt very warm and inviting so I was excited. For dinner I decided to go with nachos, while my younger son went with a plain cheese quesadilla with a side of guacamole and my husband went with their enchilada platter. And for drinks we had ordered two Jamaica's and an horchata, the jamaica was ok but the horchata was just grainy and flavorless. The pictures of the nachos had sold me, I added carne asada and really wish I hadn't, it was there but had no flavor. My husband too was not pleased with his enchilada, it looked delicious but there was just no true flavor. Even the salsas and guacamole were just bland. First of all this is a self serve style restaurant. The bill including tip is paid when you order the food, and you bus your own dishes and serve yourself water as well. I never know what to do about a tip at the time of payment??? Let cover the drinks; I had a mezcal margarita it was a fresh juice with Tajin on the glass. Very good but sadly the jalapeño in it made it un pleasant to sip on. The crudite was very nice and the dishes were good also although the marinated pork was really unremarkable. The ambiance was that of a food court at a mall with beautiful murals on the wall, clean tables and quiet. The family was great and very nice, although eye contact was minimal. As far as a return visit I would, but try a different Margarita and reserve the prior tip. read more

Nevertheless, that was not going to stop us from grabbing some tacos. Ordered the Carne Asada tacos meal (3 tacos + rice + beans). Served on fresh corn tortillas. Very Good. I should have never offered to share because these were gone quickly. Also got to try a bite of the Carne Asada Quesadilla. Filled with melted cheese, lettuce, tomato and pickled jalapeno peppers. Perfect date night meal. Great food. Got dessert from Sophie's Scoops after as it was 20ft away in the same building. The wife got a margarita that she says didn't skimp on alcohol but was delicious. She liked the enchiladas and also said the rice and beans were good. Green salsa/sauce was super fresh. It kind of shocked my mouth with the fresh flavor. Very good surprise. The best tamale I've ever had! Augustine recommended the pork and he was not wrong!! The salsa roja they put in it was delicious, full of flavor and NOT DRY! My husband had the barbacoa smothered burrito supreme and I seriously don't know how he finished all of it, it was so huge! It was also delicious, we kept sharing bites. The food was obviously made with love. Good beer selection, the atmosphere was non-pretentious but clean and comfortable with great wall art. The service was excellent and prices reasonable! The restaurant is charming with comfortable seating and beautiful artwork. Met the owners and found out the wife is from Oahu where we just moved from.
