Chilaquiles. Red sauce or green sauce. Chilaquiles. Oh my. Not often seen on run of the mill Mexican restaurant menus, they're a delight to find. The meal started with lovely chips and salsa. I had the chilaquiles, and SWMBO had the arroz con camarones. The service was exemplary. The food- very well seasoned. Beautifully prepared shrimp- done, yet still tender. The sauce with the arroz was delicious. The chilaquiles...it's often a dish not given love, and in some joints, it can become gummy. These were able to stay light, and full of flavor, and not be a gloppy mess, well paired with scrambled eggs. Truly a dish you can stuff yourself with. This place has great customer service and it's nice and clean. Came in for lunch to try it out and my food was great! Only thing I didn't like was the tamales I got. They were really dry. Might of just been a bad day to get them. They have good choices for kids meals. And the range and combo of plates is amazing. I'll def be back. read more

Ok, So here's how it goes. THIS IS THE BEST MEXICAN FOOD AROUND!!!! Nothing compares to Oscars place. His food is fresh, hot, and delicious! I love his restaurant! I used to go to see him at his previous job but when he told me he was fulfilling his dream and opening a restaurant, I knew I'd only ever to go his place for Mexican food. Oscar is one of the nicest people I've met. His wife works there too and she's such a sweet and helpful woman. When I asked her what Mi Pueblo meant, she didn't make me feel bad at all for not knowing. The respect and family atmosphere is one of the reasons I keep going back. Mi Pueblo means my people. Authentic? Authentically poor... Poor service, poor quality of food... Poor experience. Yelp really failed me on this one. Took 10 minutes to get water...server was rude... Food sucked and lacked the price to match the quality. Absolutely amazing food and great service. Love the complimentary chips and salsa, the salsa is delicious. They will also give you complimentary bean dip if you ask for it. Our family of 4 adults stopped for lunch sat, july 30th with the recommendations of yelp. We actually were a little disappointed. They were not busy, which did not bother me but I think our server had his mind somewhere else and slow. The food was served hot and good. Ordered a second bar drink which was not received. Checked our bill to see if we were charged for the extra drink which we were not. But when we got home checked it again with husband wanting to know why we were charged for coffee when no one had or ordered any. Just moved to Olympia from So. California and wanted to find a really good Mexican restaurant. Visited Mi Pueblo based on reviews and am very pleased. Food was plentiful, yummy and very nicely presented. I had Chile Colorado and my friend had Camarone Moja de Ojo. She enjoyed it immensely and took leftovers for lunch. I enjoyed my Chile Colorado - very tender beef and tasty, well seasoned sauce. We will visit again! The food here is great. True authentic Mexican. Oscar, the owner, welcomes me almost every time I come into the restaurant. The food is at great price and especially for the quality you are getting. I typically will order carne asada tacos and a chicken sope. There menu has just about anything that you could want, plus all the simple stuff which is what i enjoy. Words can't describe how happy that my husband found this place. It is absolutely amazing and we will be coming here from now on. We have been in search of a legit mexican restaraunt since we moved here a couple of months ago from Texas and we have been very unsuccessful. I wish we would have known about this place when we moved up here but for some reason it wasn't populating until we updated our yelp app. I told the workers there that Yelp was the best decision they could have made and the owner came and checked on us and he chatted with us for a little while. Everyone was so sweet and the owner actually gave my husband and I a complimentary flan which was amazing!! It wasn't just the fact that everyone was nice, but that the food was as close to Tex-Mex that you can get. I know it's legit when there is "ensalada de nopales" on the menu. This is for real! Served as a combination with carne asada, this is a serious dish that is seriously delicious. I'm just gonna put it out there: any person that can dust this entree that is served on a school-bus steering sized wheelplate deserves an award! The carne asada is thinly sliced, well seasoned, and I was happy not to encounter any "chewy bites". It comes with a grilled jalapeno and grilled green onion, and it pairs deliciously with the nopales. For those of you who are not familiar with nopales, it is actually a coolish temperature salad made with tenderly cooked cactus, chopped onions and (maybe tomatoes) and cilantro. It is not spicy, but it is flavorful and helps the meat to not taste salty. It is SO delicious - and with the hot tortillas - YUM YUM and TRIPLE YUM!! I like to slice up the carne and make "tacos" out of the things on the plate. I can usually only eat two of them and I even still will have enough leftovers for the Hubster to have a good sized unch the next day! Another appreciated perk about Mi Pueblo I enjoy is their willingness to offer alternate frijoles options: refried, whole, or black beans, so you can decide what you preference is to accompany your entree. The margaritas were watered down, the rice was reheated from the day before, the lettuce was obviously old and when the deep fried ice cream came it was ice cream scooped into a shell with flour dusted on it. Expensive for what you get lunch-wise. Might have better luck with some of the less standard fare or the dinner items but you are looking at spending more than $13 for an entree if you go that route. Better quality and cheaper tacos at the trucks on either side of town. Up charged for things on several occasions. Got the lunch special today which was $7.99 for four tacos and a drink and then added a taco ($1.75). Total came to almost $14. Apparently the iced tea I asked for doesn't count as a drink and they charged $2.75 for that. If I had ordered the tacos ala carte I would have paid less! I have been here several times and this isn't the first time I've had this happen (same server every time it does too). The food is decent but nothing special, certainly not worth throwing money away for. Too bad bc I wanted to like it, it's close to work, and the owner seems really nice and engages with the customers but I just can't help but feel ripped off every time I eat there. If I could give Mi Pueblo 10 stars I would!. We have been up here from Cali for 25 years now and have tried just about all the Mexican places around and out of town. This is by far the best, in service, in quality of food, in everything. I don't know where some of the negative reviewers have eaten but it certainly does not sound like the one we go to. We go often also and have tried different things. We have taken friends and family there also. Oscar and his family are the friendliest and he makes everything from scratch. One reviewer says it is canned. NOT. He will even make you something that is NOT on the menu if he has all the ingredients. 10 Stars!!!! Oh and I am married to a Mexican and he knows his food. I have visited this restaurant many times and have always been treated like family and been amazed at how great the food is. However, yesterday was above and beyond! Mine and my groups experience was Five star. From the food, to the service, to the atmosphere, to the prices. I was especially impressed by the Manager (owners son), who went around asking if everything was to ones liking and making sure everyone was happy. His professionalism and care was top notch! Our family ate here tonight ( mother's day) on the way home from a long car journey. We were greeted with smiles and promtly needed to use the bathrooms which were clean and tidy. The service was excellent, the food was served promptly and was tasty, great portion size and reasonably priced. Our 4 children had been cooped up in a car all day so were not exactly quiet or able to sit still, bit nobody batted an eyelash. I loved this place the first time, so much that I've returned three times still hoping that I still love it. While I love the staff, the food is very mediocre. Their servings on things that I've ordered (lunch, chimichanga meal) are very small - aside from the rice and beans, which are generously served. The meat is bland. I still love their beans, but I wouldn't come here for much else other than the service. So sad, I was really hoping to be more of a regular. Pretty typical Mexican fare, but even greasier than your standard "greasy spoon" Mexican restaurant. Cheese blankets. Super greasy beans. No vegetarian options other than cheese (subbing veggies cost extra and the veggies would be onions and tomatoes). Salsa left our tongues tingling - seemed expired. Nice people and decent flavor. First time there and it wasn't overly busy. The service was slow and inattentive at first. The food was good though the chips tasted a little funky, greasy. After a while it's like the help woke from their 'siesta' and were absolutely great! I would go back and try some other items and hope the service was just bad timing or something.
